PERSONAL SERVICE - BETTER THAN THE POST OFFICE 12/19/2009

Max provides personalized service and treats every customer exactly the way you wish every store owner did .. but rarely do. At this MailBox Etc ... you will always be treated fairly and politely and with respect. His staff will do everything in their power to take care of whatever shipping problems you need to solve. I had a valuable and very old signed lithograph shipped from Los Angeles to the United Kingdom in it's original frame. It was framed using the older glass that was commonly used before they invented these UV protected, very strong types of glass and I was afraid it wouldn't survive the transatlantic trip. Max built a protective case out of styrofoam and it was like shipping it in a box within a box. It arrived in PERFECT SHAPE and quicker than I imagined. Your privacy will also be respected and guarded if you receive mail at this facility. Pros: Fast service done professionally - you are treated great. Cons: There are no cons - I have been a customer for 12 years more

Ok food and rude management 9/25/2009

My experience was way different from most of the rest. The food was ok, however, you can get japanese food, yes, even noodles, at other places that in my estimation are better and at competitive prices. I did like the fact that they had a kid's menu, however, their treatment of my child was not to my liking in the least. I have a 17 month old who has hearing problems, and as a result, he does not communicate in the same way that other children do. He cannot say many words and is a little louder because that is the only way that he can hear himself. During the meal, when my son started to make noises, ( he was not yelling or screaming or even crying for that matter, he was making happy noises) I was told by someone who I could only assume was a manager that I was going to have to keep him quiet!!! I was horrified!!! I have taken him to tons of places that weren't so acclaimed to be "kid-friendly" where he has acted in the exact same manner, and NO ONE has ever had a problem with him. This same gentleman was also rude to me and the group of people i was with earlier when we came in. Maybe he was having a bad day? Who knows, but I will never set foot inside there again!!! Pros: price, fast Cons: just ok food, rude, parking more

A go-to place for cheap, tasty noodles and Japanese food besides sushi. 9/30/2008

Mishima is a good place to go if you're in the mood for a healthy salad, some cold soba noodles, a big bowl of udon, tempura, or a nice hot cup of green tea. There are heavier items on the menu as well as bento boxes, but you can make it light if you look. I generally go on my own and take a good book for a quick bite in a nice environment. It's a good place if you're looking for cheap, non-sushi Japanese food. Pros: Cheap, good quality Japanese food served in fun dishes. Cons: The parking lot is poorly organized. more

Great Japanese Restaurant 7/14/2008

Mishima has great food with reasonable prices. My favorite dish there is the tofu salad. They use their own salad dressing (I think it was Miso dressing) and it tastes awesome. If you are a vegetarian, this is great to order. They also have a lot of combos so, you can get noodles with rolls, or rice entree with noodles. The combos are smaller than ordering the dishes individually, but they are still filling. It's great to get if you can't choose what to order. There are also kids' meals. The rolls are all very great as well. During busy times, it is a bit hard to get a hold of the server. The parking is the worst. It is sometimes hard to find parking or enter into the plaza. Pros: Reasonably priced, kids-friendly, clean and simple atmosphere Cons: Parking is hard to find, hard to get into the plaza. more

kid friendly (read below) and reasonably priced ($15 per person) 12/11/2006

My wife, 2 year old, and I went here Saturday night. We followed other reviewers' advice and parked at the Beverly Center, which was a great tip (thank you). After eating, go back into the Beverly Center to check out the pet store for some free kiddie entertainment. Anyways, we did have to wait a while (15 minutes at least) to get a table, which can be a challenge with children. However, Mishima keeps a stock of Japanese nursery tale children's books in the waiting area, which kept us happily occupied. When we were seated, we got a table along the back wall, which was nice, because there was a long booth-style bench rather than solely chairs. This is always better for children because they can kind of move and climb around (the trick is to box them in between you and a wall). There are some complete kid meals that come in these cute concentric containers, which children might find fun/adventurous. The food was decent and reasonably priced, especially considering the neighborhood. As an added bonus of sorts, we sat next to a well-known actress and her hubby and two children. Overall, I could definitely see this place becoming part of our regular dinner rotation. My only gripe/concern was having to wait (which I hate). Hopefully, by getting there a little earlier (I think we dined at 7:30pm), we'll beat the crowd next time. Pros: kid friendly, reasonably priced Cons: crowded more

Good Food, Good Price 9/20/2006

Pretty much everything on the menu is good. I usually order the Ten Don Combination w/Cold Soda Noodles. You must add the tanuki tempura to add crunch to it. The Ahi Tuna salad is also great but watch out because the dressing has a bite to it. Pros: food, price Cons: Parking is ridiculous to find. more

The Best Japanese Noodles for Miles 5/17/2006

If your experience with Japanese noodles is instant ramen or standard sushi shop udon, you're in for an eye-opening treat at Mishima. Fresh, chewy udon (thick white wheat noodles) and soba (thin buckwheat noodles) are served in steaming hot, savory, flavor-rich broth. If you like it cold, get it with a cup of refreshing cold broth/sauce with wasabi and scallions on side for dipping. The sesame miso dressing on the tofu and house salads are so good, be sure to buy a bottle to take home with you. The daily bento box deals are always a treat -- lots of tastes to try, all presented in humble style. Save room for dessert -- the green tea mousse is a light, delightful finish to an unpretentious and delicious meal. Pros: great food, friendly service, good value Cons: parking can be tight more

good traditional japanese fare 8/14/2005

their noodle dishes and soups are really delicious. it's a bit of a long wait to get seated, though. the place is really clean and the food is extremely reasonably priced. it's a nice change of pace from sushi or a steak dinner. more

nabeyaki udon 7/21/2005

I just keep coming back for that dish, it's soooo delicious. The albacore salad and the shiitake appetizer are also yummy. Excellent service, very clean and a friendly place. more

Noodles 3/10/2005

Great udon and katsu, and the combinations are a great value. Although the atmosphere is nothing special, that's not really why people come here. They come to Mishima for good noodles at good prices. Plus its the only decent Asian restaurant in the area. Pros: Udon, Katsu, Price more

OK for quick bite 4/5/2003

Food is just ok, there is no ambiance to the place located in a strip mall. Udon noodles are good (although not as good as Noodle World), but traditional Japanese food of better quality can be found elsewhere. Bottom line: relatively inexpensive, quick food in the Beverly Center area. more

You can always count on Mishima! 10/28/2002

Yum! Yum! You can always count on Mishima. My friend Jersey and I go there all the time....once a week for a while there! Can't go wrong with teh soups and the special is usually pretty good too! Pros: good soups, good prices Cons: parking can be tough, SPICY tuna roll, sometimes a wait more

Make a meal of the noodle dishes, offered hot, cold, thick, thin and curried. Nabeyaki udon's fish broth overflows with spinach, shiitake mushrooms, chicken, egg, fishcake and shrimp tempura, while zaru thin noodles are served cold with dipping sauce.
