Editorial review from Citysearch 2/12/2014

The school is good for teaching you drinks & mixing methods. The people who teach the classes know their stuff & most of them are cool. I took the class for two reasons; one being to learn bartending & the other, because of their ""Job Placement"". Both being equally important to me. \r \r With that being said, I was satisfied with learning the skill, but their job placement is horrible and misrepresented. I was told in my initial interview that the ""Job Placement Director"" was ""dedicated"" in finding each student the job that was right for them. He said that 90 something percent (I can't remember exactly which, but it was over 90%) of the time, the placement director found the job that the student wanted. \r \r This was complete false advertisement. After you finish the class, you meet with the ""Job Placement Director"" (Randy). You let him know what kind of job you want and he has to see your resume. Then he gives you the privilege of adding him as reference. He also gives you a username/password in order to gain access to their ""exclusive"" bartending jobs. \r \r Their ""exclusive"" jobs are a joke. Not to mention, they're not exclusive at all. You can find the same jobs with a simple google search. \r \r In conclusion, take the class if you want to learn the basics of bartending, but don't be sold (like me) in their representation that they will help you find a great job. They need to change the title of their ""Job Placement Director"", because doesn't fulfill that role. He simply lists jobs on their site that he snags from other public search engines and tells you to go apply. That's it. That's certainly not what I call ""job placement"". more

Worth The Money 2/29/2012

I paid $600 to take the course, I loved it and learned a lot. I got a phone call from placement about 3 weeks after I graduated to work one weekend, I stayed at that job for 5 months. I moved on to a better place and now make as much as $30 an hour on the weekends...worth the time & money! more

Skeptical at First - Very Impressed and Happy In the End! 9/21/2011

At first I was skeptical simply because I did not want to pay hard earned money on a program that I wasn't positive would develop useful/marketable skills. However, after taking the leap and enrolling I soon realized that the class sizes were not over crowded, the bar area for practice was very much like a real bar in an employment setting, the instructors were very knowledgeable, and the coursework was legit! I say this because I actually was a bartender during my college days (roughly 9 years ago) and I still learned new skill in this course, which corrected methods that I was incorrectly taught back in the day. The school even allows current and past alumni to come in between 2pm-6pm Monday thru Friday to practice their skills learned. As one of the posters stated, the school is very up front that taking the course doesn't guarantee employment - in fact it can't because state law forbids it; however, they do offer good job placement resources but it also takes one's own initiative to land a job. more

WORTH EVERY PENNY! 3/12/2010

Very few bars are going to hire someone right off the street with zero experience. You'll be lucky to find a spot as a barback without some kind of bar experience on your resum?. This is where the bartending school comes in. The school is highly respected here in town, and most bar/club managers in Nashville consider a bartending school diploma equivalent to ""on the job experience"" and will hire you. Now of course they do have to like you. You've gotta have personality, professionalism, etc. No one is going to just hand you a job simply because you attended the school. You still have to go through the interview process just like anybody else. Pros: JOB PLACEMENT, EXPERIENCE Cons: THEY DON'T HAVE ONE OF THESE IN EVERY CITY more

waste of time and money 4/5/2009

Their idea of job placement is giving you a list of places that have want ads on craigslist or in the paper. They dont place you anywhere, you just go out on your own and fill out applications and say you went to a bartending school and hope you land a job. the other review was probably written by a recruiter or owner. waste your money here and youll regret it. Pros: you WILL learn how to make drinks Cons: $600 and NO JOB PLACEMENT more

Awesome Opportunities! 8/30/2004

I went to PBS when I first moved to Nashville. I graduated and job placement helped me get a job almost immediately. From the experience I got there, I went on to bartend at one of the high end steakhouses in town and made fabulous money, great friends and even better contacts. I have since moved from Nashville and have to admit I miss bartending in that wonderful little city. PBS made that happen for me. more
