I took advantage of the Travelzoo deal to get their spa mani/pedi for $35 when it came out a few months ago, which is supposed to normally cost $80. First off, had I known that they did not have real spa pedicure chairs, I never would have bought the deal. They had things made so that the old fashioned foot tubs could be placed in them. Secondly, the people who do the mani/pedis are hair stylists who don't happen to have a hair client at that time so they are not very good at polishing or massaging or details. I could have paid less than $35 to get better service/quality at my regular place. I don't know who would ever pay $30 for a mani or $50 for a pedi at this place. I hated having to tip off the original cost because the quality of the work was so bad, but I am not normally a bad tipper. So for $50 total, it was just a waste of money. more

Pret-a-Porte is refreshingly talented for hair and skin services. Hard to find in San Diego county. Zip code or not, this gem should be sought out by all in La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe and Fairbanks, there is no better. As a Los Angeles native, where the stars are....it is great to have Pret-A Porte- Dan and Roz Oserin.The newest Green Science facials and plant peels are splendid and Theresa a jewel, try it. Pros: Roz and Theresa for me, the products also. Cons: Parking slots, a challenge , but worth it more

This is an outstanding salon. Everyone is friendly, the stylists know their craft well, it is family friendly, the location is convenient, and they deal exclusively in Aveda products. I highly recommend it! -Val more

Two amazing experiences so far 7/29/2008

I've had a full color + cut and a facial at Pret-a-Porter and both were among the best services that I have received, EVER. I am very happy with my hair (a unique, dark red color & layered cut) thanks to my stylist, Mandy. The facial that I had today with Theresa was a fabulous & relaxing experience (My skin feels sooo good right now). The products & people & services are great - I highly recommend this salon & spa. more

Most relaxing spa ever. 7/22/2008

I love Pret a Porter, partly because of its beautiful, relaxing ambiance, but mostly because of the friendly atmosphere and high quality services provided for reasonable prices. I've been a customer since its doors opened and am likely to be going there until I'm too old to care about how I look and feel. Does that ever happen? I don't think so! Pros: Ambiance, skill level, friendliness. Cons: Parking a ittle tough. more

Wonderful, personal attention and professional expertise 7/21/2008

I've continually been getting complimented on my hair since Dan started cutting and coloring it about a year ago; and I especially enjoy the complimentary hand and arm messages. From the time I walk in and Sheri offers me water or tea to the time I leave with my next appointment I feel like I've been on a mini-vacation. more

After searching for a hair salon in San Diego, I am so glad I went with Pret-a-Porter Salon. Upon entering the salon I was warmly greeted and offered a beverage. The overall atmosphere was very friendly and the salon was decorated beautifully. I immediately felt comfortable. Mandi was my stylist and she was super sweet and very talented. I got an all over color, highlights, haircut, and style. The price was very reasonable and the quality was extraordinary. My hair has never felt better and I can't wait to return for my next appointment! Pros: Everything! Cons: None more

This is the best salon I've ever used. I've been coming here for over 5 years. Roz is the best color expert in San Diego County. All of the staff is warm and friendly and I actually enjoy getting my hair colored. I never thought I'd enjoy spending time in a salon, its a mini vacation every 5 weeks. Thanks more

Great service and prices, relaxing and easy-going atmosphere, 7/13/2008

I found Pret-a-Porter seven years ago when I moved back to the San Diego area and I was looking for a place to buy Aveda products without driving from La Mesa to Fashion Valley for conditioner or lipstick. I met Roz, the co-owner, and talked with her about needing to get my highlights redone. She was so friendly and knowledgeable that I made an appointment and have been going back every six to eight weeks ever since. She's always done a great job with my color -- whatever it may have been at the time -- and has never given me a bad haircut. She even knows how to tame my very curly hair! She's always hired talented and friendly staff, from the other hair stylists to the facial and massage personnel. The salon has very high standards for quality as well as customer service. I recommended Roz and Pret-a-Porter to my mother and a friend who also has early hair and both have become loyal customers as well. Pros: Service, atmosphere, price, parking more

I've lived in the SF Bay Area and New Orleans and this salon has the most knowledgable,creative, and friendly staff . They are expertly trained in haircoloring. The massage therapists are highly skilled and knowlegable in physiology to give the safest and most effective service. Those who do facials and waxings work for and achieve perfection. Best Salon in La Mesa 7/29/2007

I just started going to Pret a Porter Salon in June as a hair model. I found their ad in the Reader for hair cut/color models. Shauna cut my hair the 1st time and Briana did my high lites and color. Both Shauna & Briana did a wonderful job. I used to let my hair go since I did not trust anyone with my hair. Not anymore, now I go every 6 weeks. Now I do not have to worry about what my hair will look like when they finish. I can't wait to have Rosemary give my daughter & I our pedicures. Pros: They have saturday and late afternoon appointments. more

Great Salon, where everyone is knowlegable and friendly. 7/29/2007

Roz knows what looks the best for your skin tones and doesn't let you get away with looking "just OK". My hair color always gets compliments and my cut is always the best. I've been going to Roz for over 10 years, and I always look forward to my haircut and color days, because it's like a mini-meditation day for me. The whole atmosphere of the salon is relaxing and invigorating at the same time. Roz is absolutely the BEST colorist in San Diego county! Everyone is friendly and helpful, but not pushy. This is my second visit for a pedicure and I couldn't recommend a better place. Rosemary was awesome and I am now a permanent client. Great Salon Experience 7/17/2007

I absolutely love this Salon. I have been getting my hair done by the owner, Roz Oserin, for over 10 years. She gives great cuts and THE BEST color anywhere. I also highly reccomend their spa services. The massage room is great with it's own private shower shower. And if you go, you MUST get a facial from Teresa - the most relaxing and best feeling facial I have ever had. She actually puts me to sleep. Check out this salon, you won't regret it. Pros: Entire experience Cons: Parking. Only a few spaces out front, but I always find a spot on the other side of the street. more

I have been a customer at the salon for almost 9 years and must say it's a comfor to know I can consistently get a great cut and excellent color every time. The addition of spa services several years ago enhanced the experience, allowing for a day of total relaxation. I highly recommend taking advantage of all of the services offered. Great haircut - they took me as a walk in late Saturday. 4/1/2007

Because I have such a demanding schedule at work, I never make hair appointments. I usually walk in to one of the local salons on the weekend. When I got to Pret-a-Porter Salon it was about 5 p.m. on Saturday. The owner and a couple others were still there and said he would be glad to take me. It's one of the best haircuts I've had in a long time. The salon was clean and the price was right too. I will definitely call for an appointment the next time I need a haircut and see if they can take me on the spur of the moment. What a jewel in downtown La Mesa. It's a high end salon and spa that specialized in hair color. 3/30/2007

I went to get my hair hilited and cut and I really love it. Everyone in the salon was friendly and because it is an AVEDA concept salon, I got a scalp massage complimentary with my haircut, and was able to purchase all of the AVEDA products that I used to get at Fashion Valley.
