I do not typically post on these forums, but practically jumped out of my chair in fear when seeing this business/teacher. I was injured during Carrie's prenatal class. Long story...

Seriously amazing instructor. You can totally tell that she loves what she does! She knows everybody's name (due date, did they have a boy or a girl, how many kids etc.). She's super nice, the exercises are great and she tailors the class to the level for each person. She always explains the exercise and corrects you (in a friendly way) if you are doing it wrong. I've taken Carrie's Pre-natal and post natal Pilates classes, and I leave feeling one inch taller each time. A must for pre and post natal even if you've never lifted a finger in your life - also if you are a Pilates go-er from way back. more

I've been taking the pre-natal class with Carrie and it's amazing. I've taken pre-natal classes elsewhere but they do not come close to Positively Pilates. Carrie understands and explains the pregnant body and creates such a warm and supportive environment in class. This class has made me feel so much stronger that I am actually excited to give birth! Carrie's classes effectively address pregnancy aches and pains, have improved my sleep and I regularly use some of the moves at home on a daily basis. Carrie remembers everyone's name and personal situation and shares her own childbirth and parenting experiences. I don't understand any negative reviews on here. As a teacher myself I can honestly say that Carrie is a model to all of us for creating a positive atmosphere. She is more than happy to talk to you individually after class and recommend moves you can do at home. Your belly will thank you for taking this class! more

I can't say enough good things about Carrie and her prenatal classes -- throughout the second half of my pregnancy, I looked forward to this class every week and always walked out feeling great. The stretching and core-strengthening exercises really helped with my back and hip pain, and also helped me to feel more confident going into labor. I was in labor for 23 hours but walked out 2 days later practically pain-free, which I'm sure was largely thanks to me being in good shape from these pilates classes (and lots of walking!). Carrie does a great job of pacing the class so it's appropriate for all stages of pregnancy, and she has a wonderfully warm and supportive teaching style. I highly recommend Positively Pilates to all mamas-to-be, and can't wait to try Carrie's post-natal classes in a couple of weeks! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/6/2012

I started doing Pilates with Carrie twice a week in my 23rd week and was doing it until the last week of my pregnancy. The excercises had many positive benefits for my body: helped eliminate back pain, overall tiredness and improved posture and relaxation. I looked forward to every class. Pace and selection of excercises were great. There are some core excercises (Keagal) we did every class but Carrie always added some variatey so that the classes are more interesting and challenging and at the same time adapted for a growing belly. Carrie's very personal and welcoming from the beginning and takes time to explain excercises and what effects to expect. She is passionate about what she does and about her ""bellies"". Overall, i had a great expercience with Positively Pilates and woudld highly recommend it to anyone and don't belive the negative reviews are true. more

Carrie is wonderful and I highly recommend her! She gives great support to her mamas to be and is very compassionate and caring. I always looked forward to attending her classes and felt so much better after every class. She challenged me physically which I loved and gave me excellent stretches and Pilate moves that helped during labor. Each class made all the pregnancy kinks I had feel so much better! I cannot wait to go back to Carrie's classes, postnatal and mommy and me, and have Carrie get me back into shape. She really is the best!!! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/5/2012

I'm somewhat skeptical about the review below because I've been going to Carrie for almost a year now and there is not a rude or belittling bone in her body. She is an absolute joy to have as a teacher and actual makes an effort to tell people what they are doing WELL, and if any adjustments need to be made in form, she doesn't call her students out but walks over and very gently corrects them. I tried many pilates studios in the area before deciding to call Positively Pilates my home, and it's mostly because other studios have an air of arrogance and don't provide the kind of one on one attention that Carrie does. She is always smiling and always chipper. I've in fact wondered how a person can be so genuinely happy and nice all the time! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/18/2012

I went to the prenatal pilates class after reading some of the reviews here. I had a horrible experience in the class. First, the delivery was entirely off. I honestly kept expecting Carrie the instructor to put me on a time-out if I didn't do the exercise correctly, lol! Next, I approached the instructor after class, to ask her a question, and she was incredibly rude. I am extremely skeptical of the reviews written below. more

I can't say enough great things about 6/5/2012

I can't say enough great things about Carrie! She is very caring, genuine, warm and compassionate. I immediately felt a connection. She knows her stuff and is a wonderful instructor. I appreciate how she is constantly reminding us of the proper form and always explains each move. There is no pressure to do every move and she is aware of individuals' needs and special circumstances. I started with her when I was 12 weeks pregnant with my third and I look forward to continuing my journey with her through my postpartum workouts. more

Fantastic Pilates Instructor! 2/7/2012

I first reached out to Carrie when my second child was almost 5 months old. My body was not coming back together as it had after my first baby, and I knew that I needed someone who truly understood pregnancy and motherhood to help me. I was also exhausted and learning how to juggle the demands of more than one child. Carrie was the perfect instructor. She came to my house for a series of private sessions that were unbelievably effective and helpful. Within a couple of weeks of working with Carrie (of only meeting once per week) I was receiving compliments from people on how I looked. More importantly, I was feeling so much better and energized. I have also enjoyed Carrie's post-natal group class. It's amazing. She's amazing. Carrie really understands how to teach pilates. She is safe, innovative, motivated and motivating. My only regret is not learning about Carrie sooner and not being able, as a mom who works full-time, to see her more often. more

Looked forward to class every week 10/26/2011

I started attending Carrie's prenatal class at 30 weeks, and my only regret is that I didn't hear about the class sooner. I attended class up until my due date, and so looked forward to class each week. The stretches were such a relief to my sore muscles and joints; I did many of them throughout the week at home. Carrie gave such a personal touch to class - remembering everyone's names and due dates, and providing pointers and gentle assistance to deepen stretches. My delivery was as pleasant as it could have been - I only had to push for 15 minutes, thanks in part (I'm sure) to a strong core and pelvic floor... thanks to pilates! I'm very much looking forward to starting the postnatal class in a few weeks! more

Must do for prenatal relief!! 10/10/2011

I've always been a big fan of yoga and pilates, and when I became pregnant, I knew prenatal pilates would be the way to go. I came across Carrie's class and took it from weeks 18 to 39 and it was the best decision I could have made! Carrie is an excellent instructor and takes the time to make sure you're doing the poses properly and getting the relief you need. She even stayed with me several times after class to work out target areas that were bothering me. I can honestly say that the class made me more aware of how to stretch properly without hurting yourself and constantly doing your kegels, which came in extremely handy during labor!! I'm now 3 weeks post partum and feel great, and I can't wait to start the postnatal classes in another 3 weeks. more

Best Pilates in Hoboken!!!!! 10/10/2011

I have been taking Pilates from Carrie for over 10 years. She got me in amazing shape for my wedding, kept me moving while I was pregnant and got me back into shape postpartum. Through all the years and different stages of my physique, I always finish her class feeling stronger and more aligned. Pilates can seem intimidating while pregnant but Carrie more

LOVE THIS CLASS!!! 9/30/2011

I am now 27 weeks pregnant and I have been working with Carrie since I was 15 weeks pregnant. She is always so friendly and positive! Every time I work with, I am filled with positive energy. She is also a mom herself and she shares mommy wisdom with us which is always so helpful. I find Carrie's class to be fun yet challenging. She knows how to push each person and I get a great workout! She is an awesome instructor and I recommend Carrie's class to anyone who is looking for a great pre-natal workout! I love that she now has post-natal pilates. I look forward to working with her for many months to come! more

Please avoid! 9/8/2011

I do not typically post on these forums, but practically jumped out of my chair in fear when seeing this business/teacher. I was injured during Carrie's prenatal class. Long story to sum-up. My OB/GYN recommended an amazing instructor in Hoboken. When she left on maternity leave Carrie took over. Carrie took the set-up of this woman's class and added a twist that was too fast paced and contradicted some prenatal exercise modifications recommended by the previous instructor. Immediately after leaving Carrie's class I had a lot of pain in my pubic bone. This pain was so bad that for the remainder of the pregnancy I could not exercise (Doctor's recommendation). I am now 8 weeks postpartum and STILL experiencing the pain in my pubic bone. My intention in writing this is not to be mean spirited BUT to provide warning to other mommies to be. more

In-home privates are a pregnant woman's dream... 8/17/2011

I've been doing pilates with Carrie for over two years now, the first of which was spent building strength to recover from a back injury and the second of which she saw me through thick and thin - nine months of pregnancy and beyond. She is always careful to modify exercises that may cause me pain or those that become unsafe during pregnancy - all the while keeping me focused and challenged and ultimately stronger and healthier. I couldn't dream up a better way to workout during a long winter of pregnancy than Carrie's in-home privates which are both convenient and forgiving - on more than one occasion she held my 3 year-old son in her arms while I rolled like a ball (with a ball) with two boston terriers looking on eager to jump into the mix. Needless to say we have had some really great laughs through it all. I can't recommend her services highly enough. more

Great all around teacher! 7/27/2011

I am a student of Carrie's at Power Pilates in Chelsea, and I agree with the other reviews; she is an amazing prenatal Pilates instructor. All around, Carrie is a clear, concise and thorough Pilates teacher. She balances the importance of form while really challenging the body through the method. I have not been pregnant, but if I ever am, she will be the first teacher I will continue my practice with. She seems to see pregnancy (or an injury, etc.) as an opportunity to strengthen in a different way, rather than as a disability. She has a true understanding of the body and you will learn something about yourself when you take her class. Enjoy! more

Wonderful Pre-Natal Pilates 7/21/2011

I started going to Carrie's class beginning at 8 weeks of pregnancy and have found it to be the best pre-natal class in town. It's challenging enough that you get a great work out but also relaxing as the same time. I've suffered with low back pain ever since my first pregnancy and it's just gotten worse with one and I always feel so much better after leaving class. Carrie is always super positive and has a great teaching style making sure you have proper form to get maximum results. You will not be disappointed if you sign up! more

Simply Amazing Pre-Natal Pilates 7/20/2011

I have been going to Carrie's class since early in my pregnancy, and I can't say enough good things about it! After trying several other Pre-Natal classes, I finally found the perfect class, the perfect fit! Carrie is an amazing instructor and person- with extensive knowledge and training in Pilates, this has allowed her to translate it seamlessly into a pre-natal class. You walk away feeling like you really got a workout. She is extremely motivating and takes the time to encourage each student and make any necessary adjustments so you learn how to properly do each exercise. This class has kept my energy level up throughout my pregnancy and I was thrilled when she added a second class during the week, as one never felt like enough. I would 100% recommend her class to any mom-to-be, no matter what your level of experience, its the best! more

BEST PRENATAL CLASS AROUND 7/19/2011

There couldn't be a better pre-natal fitness class than Carrie's prenatal pilates...She is truly an amazing teacher and having experienced pregnancy she really understands what a pregnant woman is going through and the areas that need strengthening, stretching, and TLC! I would recommend this class to all pregnant women, no matter what your experience level with pilates is. You will feel AMAZING!!! more
