My dogs home away from home 2/27/2008

We have been taking our dog to the Pooch Palace for eight years. We bring him to daycare at least once a week. Driving within several blocks of the Pooch Palace, he will cry and bark because he is so excited to get there. As a matter of fact, on days when I do not bring him there, I have to choose an alternate route when in the area. Otherwise he gets very excited. We recently went on vacation and as always he stayed at ""The Palace"". I always go away knowing that he will be well taken care of. Over the years he has been on extended stays multiple times. I always return to find him healthy, happy, well groomed and best of all, tired when he gets home. He loves the staff there and over the years has made many friends (dog and human). At one point he had to have surgery and could not play for six months. The Pooch Palace called our home several times to check on him and sent a card signed by the entire staff. In response to the negative comments I have seen. People need to think. Yes, sometimes when I drop off my beloved pet, it is busy. Someone meets me in the entry and they whisk my dog away to play. The transaction takes seconds. That is because it is a successful business that has the serious responsibility of taking care of dozens of our pets who we love dearly. It is not all about us (the pet owner). And that is the way it should be. That being said, there are also times when the staff spends time with me having a friendly chat and telling me about my dogs day . As far as the interview process, I look at it this way. Your first concern should not be the cost or how many times your pet has to return before being accepted as a boarder. I know I appreciate the fact that the interview process is thorough. It ensures a happy, safe environment for the dogs we love. For those who did not appreciate the interview process, no worries. From what I understand there is usually a waiting list. Someone will gladly take your place. Pros: It is all about the dog. He loves to go there and is well taken care of. more

Hack Job--Not sure if the person is actually a real trained groomer. 12/24/2007

""oh my god, what happened to your dog""....this basically sums up the grooming job that my dog received there. Everyone who sees him, asks the same question. Cons: bad haircut, rushed, ?groomer understood english, Trained personnel? more

Great Place-Dog enjoys it and we feel he is very safe 10/12/2007

I am very surprised at the negative feedback. We have been boarding our dog whenever we travel since September 2000. The staff love him and treat him very well and he seems to have a good time. He is a jumper, able to jump a 4 1/2 foot fence without a running start. He is a Bichon Frise/Cocker Spaniel mix and is a trained therapy dog and visits nursing home with my wife as part of a volunteer group. He still is a little hesitant when being dropped off and some times he needs to be coaxed but that is because he knows we are going away. more

Best Boarding Around! 9/4/2007

I have brought my dog here for almost 12 years. This place is awesome! I don't know what the other guy was talking about. The woman behind the desk is very nice, and professional. Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!!!!!! 5/29/2007

I took my dog here 2 times. first time everything seemed ok, the lady was very quick, didnt seem too friendly, i just assumed they were busy. No big deal. They groomed him and everything, and I got him back and he seemed a little too excited to see me. I just assumed he was very happy. The second time I brought him, he DID NOT want to go in that place, he saw the person and would not stop barking and shaking. She was very quick again. She grabbed the leash and dragged him down the stairs as hes trying to run back to me. I said mabe you should pick him up and she just kept going, DOWN STAIRS! not into the other room, dragging down stairs. He was very very scared to be their again. Once again she was very quick and told me to come back in like 4 hours and shuffled me outside really quick. Why I left him their I dont know i guess im an idiot. I didnt even get a chance to say by to him or anything, and this time I went in the morning and I was the first one their so I know she want busy. Shes is just a quick impatient B*TCH! I picked him up and he jumped in my arms and dug his claws into me like he never wanted to let go. EVER SINCE THEN HE IS AFRAID OF EVERYONE!!!!! He get nervous around people and barks at them, he doesnt want anyone to touch him anymore except me, I cant even take him for a walk because he barks at everyone like hes telling them to ""BACK OFF!"" I dont know what they did to him but I would seriously recommend NOT BRINGING YOUR DOG/CAT/BIRD/WHATEVER TO THIS PLACE!! DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE!! I have no ""proof"" that they did anything so i cant do anything about this, but when your dog is fine one day and scared of everyone the next, you know something traumatic happend to him. This was a while ago when this happend too, I just never wrote about it until now. Hes still a scared little doggy. :( DO NOT BRING YOU ANIMAL TO THIS PLACE!!!!! Pros: ABSOLUTELY NO PROS!!! Cons: EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE IS BAD. DIRTY, NOT FRIENDLY...TOO MUCH TO LIST more

Great Place! 8/28/2006

Hi, Pros: Fun and loving place to leave your dog Cons: Hard to find on your first visit. There is a lot of traffic getting to the Pooch Palace. more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! 4/19/2006

You do not want to deal with people like this. We called were told that there was an interview process that included a ""sleep over"" as a trial run. Good news you would think. A man calls a few days later to set up the interview. He explains that not only will there be a $45 /night charge for boarding, but they EXPECT the dog to return for day care and routine boarding. WHAT??!!! Iif we wanted to board our dog there, we would have to bring him back regularly ""so they can get to know that dog better."" Give me a break!! We then called back to be polite and say that we were no longer interested and the guy said to us, ""you'll never need our services again anyway because we won't take your dog after memorial day"" and hung up. Nice huh? Your pet deserves better. more
