Eat your veggies! 11/28/2006

Pioneer Organics is a great company and they deliver a great product. With today's busy schedules it is hard to eat the way we all know we should. Even as a vegetarian, I would find myself serving the same veggies and buying the same fruit week after week. This service brings a big box of fruits and veggies right to my door every 2 weeks. The best part is being able to modify the delivery to fit both my tastes as well as my menu plan for the week. They send an email before your delivery and you have a few days to modify it. You can also add groceries and other items to your delivery for a reasonable cost. The fruits and veggies are very fresh and as many as possible come from local growers. Best of all, you know you are doing something healthy for you and your loved ones. One thing to note is that some of the items tend to spoil faster than what you'd buy at the grocery store, given that they don't have any preservatives and come right from the grower. This is especially true with the citrus fruit. But if anything ever arrives in less-than-perfect condition, the customer service team is quick to make amends. One you have this service, you'll be hooked. more

Pioneer Organics Organic Produce 6/28/2006

I started getting Pioneer Organics bi-weekly delivery about 3 months ago. Although they have some non-local produce, it is all organic. The big thing for me is the ability to choose what is in your box. When you first sign up, you select items that you do not want to ever receive. For your delivery, PO auto-selects items for you, but you receive an "order-up!" email and have about 5 days to change/add any items. You can also have recurring items if you want something particular in every delivery. The bi-weekly small box has been good for my husband and me...just when we run out, a new delivery arrives! The produce always tastes great, and the convenience is fantastic. more

pioneer organics delivers 6/3/2006

pioneer organics delivers but we were pretty disappointed with them. they always delivered on time and as expected, but they usually had at least one bad piece of produce in the bunch, and it was a pretty boring mix of stuff. too much of it went to waste in our house so we stopped using them. more

Community oriented local business 4/18/2006

As someone who has worked with volunteer groups getting donations from Pioneer, I have to say that I'm very impressed with their community spirit. We have almost always gotten a huge amount of produce from them. I received one box as a freebie for purchasing green power from City Light, and was quite impressed with the amount and variety of produce included. I have noticed, as others have, that much of their organic produce is not local; indeed, much of it is imported even from out of the country. If local and organic is very important to you, you might want to try another delivery company - but I think the value relative to the quality of the items is good at Pioneer. more

Pioneer Organics 3/18/2006

This organic home delivery company makes shopping easy. They carry a variety of in season produce, breads, herbs, pasta, personal care items, etc. Everything is organic. It's fun having a box of goodies at your doorstep, be it weekly or biweeky. They send out weekly emails containing the next week's box contents. The prices are reasonable and the produce is always the freshest and locally grown. more

Be healthy with help from Pioneer Organics 2/22/2006

Making the decision to get produce delivered from Pioneer Organics was easy. They are local and have been in business much longer than other produce delivery places. They seem to have it all figured out. Each order is comprised of items that are in season that they suggest for you based on your stated preferences, but you can change the order as much as you want. The website couldn't be more user-friendly. It's not that expensive. Delivery is free. The produce itself is super fresh and tastes great. Their customer service is prompt and very friendly. You can have produce delivered once a week or once every two weeks. Going with the $41 plan and a once every two weeks delivery schedule has been perfect for cooking dinner for two (sometimes three) about five nights a week. I've had to supplement some with items from the grocery store, but I think that's to be expected. Having a ton of produce around has made it SO much easier to cook frequently and to eat healthy. I thought I would have a lot of stuff go bad like I usually do when I binge-shop at the grocery store, but the few items that were still in the crisper last night looked great. I don't know how I ever got along without Pioneer Organics. Oh, yeah, I either ate out every night or I ate frozen burritos and cereal. Just kidding. Well, not really. more

Keeps me away from the grocery store... 11/29/2005

I have received a grocery delivery for over 2 years and I am very happy with the service. P.O. saves me time by eliminating trips to the grocery store. I have only had 1 or 2 problems with the quality of food and each time they provided a refund, no questions asked. The vegetable box also arrives with handy recipes which come in handy for unfamiliar food items. The best part, for all of you tech junkies, is that P.O. uses NetSuite. This enables the company to have a fully functioning online store and allows users to modify the delivery and omit unwanted food. The one downside, the price used to be fixed at $30/box for a small delivery. When the new online system was implemented it enabled detailed inventory tracking and the price now is generally $1-3 over $30. I guess it was a smart way to increase revenue for P.O. more

Great service, wish there was more personal control 10/18/2005

I loved Pioneer Organics when I first signed up. We had a box of produce delivered every other week and the quality was always great. The delivery driver was also really helpful and friendly. I had to call a couple times because produce was delivered damaged and they always made it up to me in the next delivery. The produce is preselected by Pioneer Organics and you are allowed to make up to 3 changes and pick alternatives from a list. The only things I didn't like is that they try too hard to offer variety that I would get all these new and interesting vegetables that I had to be creative with and often wouldn't get the vegetables that I love and my family consistently eats. That either meant going out and buying additional produce and watching some of what was delivered go bad or going without our favorites and knowing that meant we were eating less veggies. I ended up canceling the service because I felt that I wasn't getting my monies worth if I was still going out to buy the veggies that we liked the most to supplement our delivery. I would go back if I was allowed greater control over the selections. more

Great produce and good selection 8/26/2005

I just started using this service, but I have had friends use it in the past. It is definitely not the most "organic" company in Seattle, and they get a lot of stuff from out of state, but if you are like me (an amateur cook), its definitely a great place to start. You can get it weekly or bi-monthly, and you can pick what kind of mix you want (ie more fruit than veggies, herbs, or whatever you want). Also, if there is something you always want while in season, you can make it a recurring item. I have been happy with it so far, but would love to hear what others have to say. Their website is http://www.pioneerorganics.com more

Easy Home Delivery! 8/16/2005

Finally a company that makes getting all-organic groceries easy to do. Just go to www.pioneerorganics.com to sign up and you can let the company choose the produce mix for you or you can customize your box each week. The prices are sort of comparable to what you would pay for at PCC or Whole Foods, plus it is delivered. The best part is that if you ever get a piece of produce or grocery that is damaged or not of good quality, you can let them know and they will credit you back for the item, no questions asked! more

Beautiful Organic Produce Delivered to your Door 7/15/2005

Being a pregnant mother with a toddler it is important that we eat organic. I was tired of going to 5 different grocery stores to find the produce limp and expensive. I was excited to receive my first box of produce. It was packaged so nicely and looked beautiful! The prices vary from average to $1.50 for an ear of corn. Yikes! The nice thing is you can pick and choose what you want to purchase. I still go to the farmers market for cheaper organic cherries, etc. more

Organic fruits and veggies delivered to your HOME. 4/29/2005

The food is great, it tastes like you just pick it out of your own garden. And I didn't have to go to 3 or more stores to find my produce. more

Best Grocery Boost 4/27/2005

In our house, we have a rule. Only fruits and vegetables in the hour or two before dinner. Trouble is, Mom's a last-minute-Charlie and doesn't always have a fruit or veggie handy. Luckily, every two weeks we get a box of produce delivered to keep the health systems in this household from grinding to a halt. It's something I do for my family without actually having to *do* anything. The reason I started it was that I quit work for a while to have a couple of kids, but had never cooked before, much less planned menus 7 days a week, 365 freaking days a year. PLUS there are all those horrible things I read about chemicals in food. How could I feed my family nutritious organic food on only one income AND actually continue to enjoy the concept of food? Pioneerorganics.com, that's how. They have a variety of configurations for what/how often. They have a natural foods grocery store online, from which you can choose additional things to add to your delivery--and soon you'll be able to schedule regular delivery of many of those items. Ingenious recycled storage boxes. Cooking-oil-fueled delivery vans. Eat your greens! Keep a pretty fruit bowl! Get Pioneer Organics! more

Great organic produce delivery 3/9/2005

We've been using Pioneer Organics for about two years now -- a mixed box of organic fruits and vegetables delivered to our door once a week. They are very service oriented, they will make good any sketchy items, and we've eaten much healthier since signing up -- we just wouldn't grab all this stuff at the grocery, but when it is in the house, we eat it. The only complaint we have at all is -- too many apples! more
