Craving a good chowder--- this is THE place to go! Take all our guests here. Selection is great, prices are moderate, and the crowded atmosphere just adds to the fun!

Best Chowder 2/19/2009

This is the best chowder in town. They've won so many awards locally and nationally. I personally love their Seafood Bisque or the Original. Always a hard choice when I go because I want to get the most of it and also all of the kind. They give you bread for free and those sour dough are great too. It's a small place so be ready to wait. During the summer, they have patio seating so enjoy some sun and chowder at the same time. This is a must place to take your friends who are visiting town too! more

It's so good, you can have it in 90 deg. weather! 7/17/2008

It's simply the best chowders out there. Their Seafood Bisque is my favorite. Tried making it at home but it just doesn't come close. If you're near Pike Place Market, you have to go have a bowl! or two. or three :) more

Best chowder in the nation! 4/14/2006

Really, their chowder was voted best in the nation in a blind taste test that was held on the east coast somewhere. It's a well deserved honor. The chowder is fabulous and so in the dungeness crab sandwich - and really anything else on the menu! The Pike's Place market location is tiny and located in the charming Post Alley. Go on a nice day and grab a table outside. There are literally only 3 tables inside. more

High-quality delicious chowder! 3/23/2006

This is a great place to swing by for lunch when you're at the Market. Although there are tons of places to eat at Pike Place, this is one of my favorites. The warm sourdough bread is a perfect accompaniment to the yummy chowder. I always get the classic chowder because, well, I'm a traditionalist. It's great though! more

Scallop Soup Please! 8/26/2005

Oh man! This place is crazy delish. The scallop chowder is wonderful. It always seems to be crowded there, and for good reason. Seems like tons of people ordered an open-faced crab sammy. I got a chowder sampler, and loved it all! The service is quick and effcient. You can get a sampler of soup for a great price! more

The best clam chowder there is 8/9/2005

My only wish is that they had more restaurants! Located in Post Alley across from the main arcade at Pike Place Market, Pike Place Chowder has earned its reputation as having the best clam chowder, period. They serve their piping hot chowder in bread bowls, and no matter how filling it is, I can never get enough. The spices blend so well, and the stock is neither too thick nor too thin, there is just the right amount of chunkiness to it, and it's perfectly seasoned. I never have to add anything to it. I can only comment on the clam chowder as I've never wanted to order anything else on the menu knowing how much I love the new england style clam chowder. I've heard the other chowders are equally delicious; perhaps someday I'll be adventurous enough to order something new! more
