Three solid stars for the food, five + stars for the service. We came here on a Friday early evening and sat outside on the deck area; it was a rather balmy Seattle day and it was perfect deck weather. We were greeted and seated quickly and efficiently, and everyone in the place (seriously) made sure to say hello as we made our way to an outside table. Once seated, we perused the good-sized menu, then went to the drink menu, then back to the main menu trying to decide how best to order. We ended up doing a wine flight each, and my friend went with the pork special while I tried the Lasagna alla Bolognese (Classic lasagna, layers of pasta with bechamel and our homemade meat sauce). We split a salad to start, the Spinaci della Casa (Our famous house salad; spinach, pancetta, onion, tomatoes, in balsamic vinegar dressing). The wine flights arrived in cute little carriers and we enjoyed each one throughout our meals, not a bad grape in the bunch. The spinach salad was nicely dressed but the dressing was just a touch on the bland side - it could have had less oil and more vinegar to my taste but that is a completely subjective thing. Next up, our entrees! My friend declared the pork special ""good!"" and I enjoyed the lasagna. The flavors were nicely melded and the ingredients tasted fresh. It had a good amount of sauce - not swimming in it but not dry, either. During our meal, we not only got to know our terrific servers but the chef/owners as well - as I mentioned previously, the service was absolutely wonderful. Everyone there truly made you feel as though you were coming over for a family meal, it was like being enveloped in a nice big hug. In talking with one of the owners, we ended up going with two desserts and splitting them both. We tried both the tiramisu and a chocolate lasagna with mascarpone and raspberry sauce. The tiramisu was good (again, in the three-star range) but the chocolate lasagna was other-worldly. The different textures (crisp of the lasagna, creamy of the mascarpone) and flavors (mellow of the mascarpone against the fresh, cheerful bite of freshly-pureed raspberries) really lit a fire under my tastebuds. It's a great location for a nice summer evening and the service can't be beat. more

Great place for birthday celebration! 8/22/2011

My adult children and I had a splendid time at Perche No celebrating my 61st birthday. I had the tomato ravioli with portabella mushroom filling and argula salad. My daughter and I are both vegetarians and appreciated how many great choices there were on the menu for non-meaters. Lilly was genuinely hospitable, the service great, and the little birthday greeting and mousse a real treat. more

Wonderful birthday celebration!! 1/24/2011

We held my boyfriend's 50th birthday party at Perche No, as he has always loved their authentic Italian cuisine. I'd been there once before (at their newer Stone Way location), but wasn't sure what to expect from a dinner for nearly 20 people. Lily, who owns Perche No with her husband, David, could not possibly have been more accommodating and helpful as we planned this event. She was very easy to reach by phone and email, and accommodated changes very easily. She emailed me a suggested menu, and it was perfect, just as it was! (I've listed it below) She arranged for us to use the large downstairs room, as we were planning around 20 people. When I arrived about half an hour before our party was to start, Lily had gone all out....linen tablecloth on the large, long table (several tables pushed together), fresh roses in the center, and two birthday signs, one personalized with my boyfriend's name and his 50th birthday. What a beautiful presentation!! Ivo, our waiter, was incredibly attentive and helpful. As the plates were served family style, he made efforts to serve my boyfriend's parents first, and before he took what looked like empty serving dishes away, he made sure that every bit of food was served, so we didn't miss anything. The food just kept coming, and it was all just beyond delicious. At the end, David, the Head Chef and co-owner, came out and gave my boyfriend a glass of 1927 sherry (from the year David was born, supposedly, although I don't believe it!), which he enjoyed enormously. I can't recommend Perche No highly enough, whether it's for an intimate dinner for two or a party of 20! Lily and David and their staff do so much to make everyone feel at home - as if such wonderful food could come out of our kitchens!! Thank you so much for a wonderful time!! Great service...wonderfully different cuisine!! 1/19/2011

Our 31st anniversary dinner here was very memorable. We wanted to try a new restaurant with creative dishes.... not your typical Italian which is o'k for us former New Yorkers. Appetizer Risotto with python, hot salad with pine nuts and cheese, main dishes Ostrich and lamb and a "chocolate lasagna" desert..No pasta but layered crispy wafer with whipped cream and chocolate sauce..amazingly light but satisfying.. It was all sooo good!!!!! There were many other typical choices but I'm glad we went for the wild side...these are on the specials you can request. more

You "wow'ed us Lily!! 12/13/2010

This was quite a surprise to all of us. The food, service, and personal flair is hard to come by these days in such a big restuarant. Lily wanted us to try family style and "trust her" choices. ?Guess what....we were wow'ed by the food! Everytime we said we were full, the plate was always empty. Homemade pasta, authentic Italian food, wine from her friends in Italy.....just to name a few. I am ready to bring my friends to the cooking classes offered and back to dinner. Thank you Lily and gang! more

Autentico e delizioso 11/7/2010

What a hidden gem! Don't let the size of this restaurant fool you, this is not another mass-produced italian-american eating farm (think Olive Garden or Spaghetti Factory.) This is an authentic, romantic and very genuine restaurant where the owners know your name and you can order in Italian. My boyfriend and I stopped by last night to get some quick food, Lily, the owner showed us to the Honeymoon table (in a little nook on the second floor, I recommend this spot!) We ordered Montepulciano de Abruzzo, a wine I loved while visiting Abruzzo, Italy, hand-made pomodori ravioli and futtuccini with shrimp. It was excellent food, true italian portions (next time we will also order a salad) and excellent prices. Lastly for desert we had a delicious poached apple with gelato. Lily even took our photo on her camera and sent it to us that evening! This will certainly become our new favorite neighborhood restaurant!!! Thanks Lily! more

great Italian restaurant hiding in plain sight 10/7/2010

We had a special event(rehearsal dinner) to plan for 9/24/10 involving 30 people. I was fortunate enough to get a pointer from a Leson column towards this fine establishment. I am sure I have driven right past it without seeing it since it is exactly behing a Kidd Valley at the south end of Green Lake on a very well-traveled street. After going to sample the food suggested for the party and actually holding the dinner, I can safely say we could not have had better food. more

After going to sample the food suggested for the party and actually holding the dinner, I can safely say we could not have had better food. The pomodoro, mushroom risotto, antipasti plates, and several desserts had people hurting themselves in enjoyment. I know of guests that have made plans to go back for a more intimate dinner for two, not to mention us. The wait staff was highly efficient and obliging but not intrusive. At the end, we were treated like the owner's family. If you know and like first class italian food, you had better put this on your 'to try' list. more

Best Italian Food on West Coast 9/12/2010

WOW! We were visiting our friend, Sam, in Seattle last month, and he told us we were going to the best Italian restaurant on the West Coast. ...and the owners are Chinese. That's a big claim from a guy that comes from a big Italian family with relatives still in Italy. We didn't order from the menu, we just let Lily bring us whatever she thought we'd like, and every dish was fantastic. It was the best Italian food experience I've had since our neighbor, Mrs. Anguilli, fresh from Italy, brought my family a gigantic bowl of spaghetti and meatballs when I was about six years old. I wish we could entice David and Lily to open a place here in Las Vegas. more
