Penguin Windows is by far the best window out there 9/23/2007

I can not praise this company enough. I was hesitant about buying windows because I did not know what to buy and did not want to get screwed over. Patrick Moore came to our appointment with a smile and was very courteous. He answered all of our questions and many more. We are not getting a 40% energy savings like he discussed. We are seeing 56%!!! This product is incredible and anybody who is serious about investing into their home should buy windows from Penguin. And if you want to have a very wonderful experience, make sure to have Patrick Moore from the Tacoma office come assist you. He is knowledgeable and will get the job done the exact way you want it. All of my friends have now purchased windows from him and he comes to visit us to make sure everything is still okay. This was an A+ and superior window replacement experience. more

Get a Sales Coach Penguin...rude ....rude ....rude 9/21/2007

Had some salesman and his "trainee" come to my house today It was like white noise....he would not listen to us at all.....Made my wife wait and would not discuss anything or even look at the windows until I got home....we felt like we were being invaded. After I told him numerous times of what I needed, he just continued to ramble on and on and on. He then used my bathroom 2x..... you just can't make this stuff up follks he was upset that I would not allow him to continue his "sales pitch." Pile of Bozos that need sales coaching ....plus you dont need 3 pane glass unless you live in Alaska. Good Luck Penguin... more

Our New Windows 7/10/2007

I am writing this email to let you know how happy we are with the sales team, installation team, inspector & customer service we received with the installation of our Penguin Windows. From the start we were impressed with the sales team of Celeste Vandal & Dave Ceccarelli. They were both extremely knowledgeable about the product & could answer any & all questions. They explained everything about the windows & did a demonstration that was truly an incite into how well the windows withstand heat. Then we had another new eye opening experience of just how warm our old windows had been. Aaron, the inspector came out & double checked the measurements of the windows to be put in & answered any questions that we had. Then came the installation team of Erik, Chris W. & Chad & they did their job with ease it seemed. They worked very well together & got the job done & worked very hard. Celeste Vandal even came to see that things were going well also. After all the installation was completed Aaron came out again to make sure that we were happy with the results. Since that we have had calls from Dave Ceccarelli making sure that everything was completed correctly & that we were happy with the windows & the job. We have only had the windows for a week but we have already noticed the difference in keeping the house cooler. Just in time for some truly hot weather here. You know it's really wonderful to have such great Customer Service in this day & age where there seems to be none. Thank you for your great product, sales, installation & service. We couldn't be happier. Sincerely, Eleanor & Karen Kirkland, WA more

I just kicked the sales weasle out of my house 6/20/2007

Some 25 yr old sarcastic, rude kid tried to sell me windows. I wouldn't by ice in a desert from him. Thanks for ruining an otherwise happy day, Penguin. more

Great service, Great product. 5/28/2007

I am a contractor for custom homes, and have had a lot of experience with an array of windows. The windows that penguin offer are superior to any other I have worked with. I have had penguin windows in my home for 3 years now and could not be more pleased with my investment. My energy bill has not decreased by 40% though. It decreased by more than 50%!!!!! I thought the sales guys were great and very knowledgeable, but the product sales it self as far as I'm concerned. They dont tell you about the tax write-offs you get with there window either, I get roughly 300 credit every year. Thank you Penguin!!!! more

Thank you to Paul of Penguin/Statewide windows! 4/27/2007

"We wanted to take a few minutes to sincerely thank Penguin/Statewide for the wonderful serivce they have provided installing our new windows. The sales representative, Paul Rogers, was so curteous and helpful when he came to do the demonstration in our home. We had no intention of purchasing windows at this time, we simply wanted to see what was available and make plans for future home improvements. When setting up our appointment, we mentioned that we were not going to purchase windows at this time and we were told this was no problem at all. Due to uncontrollable circumstances we had to reschedule the appointment 3 times, and Paul was more than happy to accomodate us. When Paul arrived he was very friendly, professional, and never pushy in any way. We told him again that we were not purchasing windows at this time, but making plans for a later date. He again said that this was no problem. Paul next went about educating us about windows so that we would have a basis for making an informed decision. Paul answered all of our questions, including many we didn't even know to ask because this was our first major home improvement project. After the demonstration and explanations, Paul showed us dollar figures for our different options and allowed us to make our own decisions abotu what would be best for us. He never tried to hide any costs from us or confuse us in any way. He showed us pricing for every option from the lest to the most expensive without telling us what we HAD to do, or SHOULD do. After Paul gave us time to discuss the project in private, we decided to move forward with the top of the line windows. We decided that if we were going to invest this much money for new windows, we might as well do it properly and get the best. Our installation went PERFECTLY. The lead installer, Earl, was friendly, polite and professional. Earl would stop at any moment to answer any questions, turning to look us in the eye rather than shouting over the noise of power-tools. Several times he invited questions, or answered questions we hadn't yet thought to ask. Earl checked and re-checked to be sure everything was done properly, cleaned up after every step, and made sure that the project was completed on time. Paul called a few days after the installation to be sure that we were enjoying our new windows and see if we had any questions, concerns, and to see how we like the windows. We are so happy with our new windows; I wish we had done this before we even moved into the house. The house already feels so much more energy effecient; I have noticed that the heater is almost never running now because the heat stays where it is supposed to rather than going, literally, out the window! We have invited all of our friends and family members over to see the new windows, as well as suggesting Penguin Windows to our neighbors who also need to replace theirs. When we do buy a new home, Penguin Windows will be our first call and we hope Paul and Earl are available to help us again." -Addam & Shannon, Lacey WA more

We are glad we chose Statewide! 4/27/2007

"My husband and I really love our new windows from Statewide. Not only were we satisfied with the windows, we also felt really good about the customer service we received, they were very friendly and personable from the start. I would recommend Statewide windows to my friends and family members. We were very satisfied with the service and the windows. It was all done in a timely manner. They even returned to our house to check it all out. It has been a positive experience for my family. We were glas we chose Statewide." -Edgar & Angie, Tacoma WA more

Very Impressed 4/27/2007

"From the first visit by one of Statewide's representatives, I was impressed with the way in which the company communicated with its customers and with its own employees. The consultants and installers were in frequent contact with the managers at all stages of the process, from the initial visit by Shannon, the subsequent visit by Paul & Dean, and the installation by Aaron, Andy and Chris. I was impressed with the way they all educated me about the windows, taking a great deal of time to teach me about window construction, energy effeciency and value. I was also impressed with Statewide as a company, the way the company stands behind their product with their warranty, the fact that Statewide does no advertising, preferring to meet people one-on-one and through referrals, the fact that Statewide gives back to the community in various ways, and that it utilizes all its own employees with no subcontracting. I value the fact that the money that would be spent on advertising goes into the product itself, the employees, and the community. I value the fact that Statewide gives back to the community with it's various charitable donations. I especially value that all Statewide's installers are factory-trained in the factory where Uniframe windows are manufactured and that all the people I dealt with are Statewide employees with a vested interest in the company itself and in doing a good job for the customer. During the installation process, everyone with whom I was in contact at Statewide were curteous, arrived when they said they would, and were very respectful of my home and personal property. Everyone was careful not to damage my home, and the crew cleaned up after themselves very well. One of the windows arrived without the internal grid and there was absolutely no question that it would be reordered properly and replaced at a later date. All of this is impressive enough, but when some problems developed regarding the trim work around the windows and the window sills which I had made myslef, the way in which Statewide handled them was amazing. The installers contacted the installation manager at the Tacoma office and he offered to come out personally the next day to talk with me. Then a sales manager defused the situation entirely on the phone by promising to fix all the details that I was upset about. When the installation manager arrived, he confirmed everything that was said to me over the phone. Then we went to Home Depot together where he purchased trim and sill material for me so that I could re-make the parts that didn't look right. Now that I have lived with my new windows for several months, I am even more aware of their value. My heating bills are lower, the heat doesn't come on nearly as often as it used to, the temperature gradient detween the upstairs and downstairs is gone, and there is a feeling of quiet and comfort that definitely wasn't there before. I am so delighted with my new windows! Thank you, Statewide, for the wonderful improvement to my home and life. I would not hesitate to recommend you to others. My feeling about home repairs after this experience is that one is well served by choosing the company thar you want to deal with first. In the end, that makes all the difference." -Joan T, Gig Harbor WA more

Professional & Polite 4/27/2007

" I had several window salesmen stop by to show me their product and give me a typical sales routine. Some were invited and some were not. Many of them I found to be annoying and full of predictable and somewhat insulting lines. One even pretended to offer a discount paid by the government. Then I met Paul Rogers from Statewide Windows. Paul had a different technique all together. He showed me samples of the windows and performed strength and heat tests. He also showed me how the contrscution is better than other brands with a cut piece of the frame. Paul allowed the product to speak for itself and never pressured me to buy like the others. Also, knowing that I was on a budget, Paul recommended a starter program in which I could buy some windows to begin with and add more as other bills were paid off. I found Paul Rogers to be a professional and poilte salesman. When I bought windows it was because I liked the product and appreciated the way it was presented to me. My appreciation for Paul is not just words, but it can be backed up with the fact that I called him just a few months later and orderd the rest of my windows. I would recommend Paul to a friend." - Timothy B, Spanaway WA more

Highly Recommend 4/27/2007

"I had my windows installed in Nov. 2005. Before then, I had windows that I could not sit by because I could feel the cold come through, but not now with the new windows - I really like them. The poeple that installed them were real nice. Thank you for the Statewide windows. I recommend you to everybody." ~Annie, Tacoma WA more

"We absolutely LOVE our new windows!" 4/26/2007

"To whom it may concern: We just want to say 'Thank you, we absolutely LOVE our new windows!' A big show of appreciation to Ross and his crew who did the installation. They were extremely knowledgeable and courteous, and I felt totally at ease with them doing the work. We'd also like to pass along our gratitude to the sales people who worked with us and the time they spent ironing out details and for coming by during the installation to see how things were going. The crew did a fabulous job working around the challenges of our 1910 home. Ross explained everything really well and his suggestions were invaluable. We couldn't be more happy and really appreciate the professionalism of your employees. We have already recommened your company to several people." -Ritch & Toni, Everett WA more

Statewide Windows, Penguin Windows 4/19/2007

We needed 9 windows and a sliding glass door replaced. Had a number of bids for our project. I can't believe how many cheap windows and companies there are out there !.Almost decided on a local company that said they make there own windows in Spokane,WA and have there own installers. Did some research and this proved to be VERY false.. Had a bid from Statewide / Penguin windows and showed a incredible difference what a window can really do for our house. There certified installers were very neat and clean, did a awesome job. Honestly I was shocked that everything the there consultant said came to fruit , This is very rare in my past dealings with contractors and sub contractors.. I would highly recomend Statewide / Penguin windows to do your window project.. My Representive was Katie McKillop, She was professional and the companies follow thru was GREAT more

Stay Away.... Run run run 4/10/2007

Rude pushie sales man, They came to you house offering a gas card and a free energy analysis that will not last longer than 1hr.. yeah right. Next day they show up and will not leave your house without a signed contract or unless you kicked them out. They will go on and on about how great their windows are, do heat test, step on the windows and trash the competition claiming that they are the best window company out there. After a 3 hr window presentation they will start with their sale push about how much windows cost and how much energy saving you will have.. they start like around 26K and after a much of mimics that include calling the manager from your phone, offering to buy you old windows, having you write a letter of recommendation for them and let them put a sign up there they give you a price for the whole job (no individual price per window with this guys) claiming that is good for that day only of about 15k for 11 windows.. You have been warned they will stay in your house for about 6 hrs, they are pushie, rude and persistent, NO is not an acceptable anwser and maybe according to them it is not either. Watch out for the clauses in th back of the contract and the 3 years warranty on the instalation not lifetime warranty as they claim. They do not make these windows and recently changed their name to Penguin windows. more

Terrible windows and service 3/21/2007

Our house has Statewide windows and all of them had to be serviced for leakage. A year later, they're leaking again. We had to fight with the company to come out and service the windows and the first "repair" person simply globbed caulk along the panes where caulk doesn't belong. Finally, after many heated calls, they sent out a crew to pull out all the windows and reapply the double sided tape which decomposed over time. It's decomposing again after a year. BAD COMPANY more

Statewide...RUN! 3/20/2007

I used to work for statewide and I agree that it's a S***ty company. Not only are the people high pressure but the atmosphere in the office is high pressure. If you didn't get a certain number of people scheduling appointments each week they would first verbally warn you, then write you up the next week and then they would fire your a** for being "incompetent" if you didn't meet the quota of appointments three weeks in a row. I worked for the Vancouver division for a few months and I will never do that again. Apparently they have been in the same territory for up to five years in some places, which is just stupid for the marketing tactics that they use. I would warn you to stay clear of these people. The next time you see someone in a baby blue shirt with a clipboard heading your way do the smart thing and turn tail and RUN! Dealing with this company is not worth the hassle. Cheers! more

No Way on Statewide 3/10/2007

Horrible company!!!! Pushy, rude and exploit uninformed people. I had Statewide come out and yes I had to force them out of my house. Quoted me a price of 25,000 on 9 windows. I did not buy from Statewide and spent just under 5,000 and yes I am very happy with my new windows. I mentioned to my installers that I had really received an education on windows and without mentioning a name, he said oh you talked to Statewide! He also said let me guess, about 25,000 for your windows. I could not believe it!!! One other note on Statewide when they called again and said they were going to send out a commercial division person to give us another bid at a considerable discount the salesman showed up at the house reeking of cigarettes and alcohol. Needless to say it was a quick meeting when she told me that now the price would be 19,000. Statewide has now changed their name to Penquin, so beware of this company also. I have nothing to gain from writing this review, but I feel it is very important to get the word out on this horrible company. more

Statewide Windows 1/22/2007

Statewide Windows is a company located in Beverly Massachusetts MA that thrives on uneducated consumers. They promise a free estimate and show up as a team so one can do the measuring and the other the presentation. A normal presentation should last no longer than 30-60 min. These guys were in my home with my husband for 6 hours. They're aggressive, assertive and persuasive. They push a signature for three contracts: one for the sale, one to install the windows without an appointment, and another which states that manufacturing of the windows takes place the next morning at 7:00am which already consumes hundreds of dollars, for which they will leave the room for 10 minutes for the consumer to think about it. They state they are recommended by consumer reports, which is a lie. They swear their prices are competitive with other brand names in the market. Claiming they must get a signature because consumer's forget the presentation and they would have to come back twice, offer many discounts for allowing a sign outside for their company, etc. Claiming that locking in now would guarantee the discounted price for later installation of all windows on the house. After signing 2 of the 3 contracts, and 6 hours of demonstration, window samples, stories, heat tests, window inspections and filling out order forms they finally left. It was later discovered that they are not even mentioned by consumer reports, that they have 36 complaints filed at the Better Business Bureau - 11 for sales related issues, and the prices were inflated by at least 3x's the fair market value. In fact as Newsday.com publishes a great reference article which states vinyl windows should be between $200-$300. Statewide Windows quoted us a price of $1500.00 per double hung window. That's right, 5x's higher than the average vinyl window. It's a beautiful "premium" window for sure, but worth $3000 for a picture window? I doubt it. Also, they take about 1 1/2 hours to install so should never be more than $150-$200 for installation. All said and done, we signed the contract on a Saturday, left a voice mail for Lou Chalifour the sales rep to cancel the contract on a Sunday (which was supposed to be the day when hundreds of dollars of work had already begun), he was not in the office on Monday, finally spoke with him Monday afternoon to confirm cancellation and assured him that I would mail the rescinded contract to their Washington corporate office within 3 business days. He assured me that I would not be charged for any work done, that the hundreds of dollars was a cost to them. On Tuesday, I got messages from the office attempting to set up an appointment for measuring. I again left a message at the office stating the contract was cancelled, there would be no measuring or windows. Nine days later, after mailing the rescinded contract, canceling the agreement on a Sunday (before even the first business day), somehow - still received calls from the office regarding measurements, and our credit card was charged $1500 dollars. I told the sales rep that I had no idea what a window costs - whether it was $10 or $1000 and that it wouldn't be wise for me to rely on a sales persons information, but again he assured me that this was a good price for a premium window. In all actuality, a premium window would be wood clad and even the most expensive companies that are designed for historical and oceanside homes go for about $700. Bay and Bow vinyl windows can be bought for about $1500. These guys were charging $3000 for a picture window. We've been had. Don't let it happen to you. By the way, this company isn't governed by the Better Business Bureau in Boston, the reports have to be filed in Washington. more

STATEWIDE 1/17/2007

I'll consider the source Amy. We found Statewide's appointment to be longer than expected, however, re-doing our entire home's windows should take time. It's our investment! The pricing was pretty much in the middle to middle-high but with the investment grade windows and 40% energy savings; we found them to be cheaper for our monthly budget. Don't even get me started on their warranties. Everybody's warranty had exclusions for normal wear and tear, natural weathering, etc.. If I break one of my windows, for whatever reason, free replacement, for life, and it's transferable. I could go on about the BBB but just call like my wife and I did. 15,000 installs in 3 years with 34 complaints. What's the percentage on that for a home-improvement company? more

confirmers 12/19/2006

They have absolutly terrible confirmers. they are rude and it's like they want you to cancel or move the date a week later. I did end up canceling and I really wanted windows! more
