Very impressive 5/23/2006

I dined at the Park Cafe' on May 20th. It was my first time there. They seated us very quickly. Our server was very pleasant and quick. The food was spectacular. The wine list is more than adequate. It was a great experience all around, and I would recommend it to anyone. Pros: Food, Wine, Atmosphere more

Very bad place for the price. 4/10/2006

I would not recommend Park Cafe, our experience was awful. The service was poor and they messed up our bill three times and never did get it straight. The whole process took 45 minutes to get straight and still they over charged us and we had to call them the next day. The server told us, things sometimes just messed up and made no offer to dismiss the gratuity. IMOP, over priced for the service you get. Cons: Awful Service, Too expensive, Large Groups more

One of the Best in Nashville 2/2/2006

There aren't many places in Nashville that are this quaint and charming... one of the first places I reccommend to people looking to have an anjoyable meal. Pros: Menu, Romantic, Wine Selection Cons: crowded/long wait, must valet more

Owners / Managers that really care 1/30/2006

From the moment they took our reservation (party of six) to our arrival, the managers were very caring and accomodating. My wife and I arrived early and had a great drink at the bar. Most of our meals were good, some better than others. (Althought chefs in this town like to add too many ingredients to dishes) On a negative note, our server, although friendly, disappeared after the entrees were dropped. With a little more attentiveness, she could have replaced the two entrees, which sat uneaten at our table. Also, the wine list, although interesting, is probably not the best in town. A good list, but not great. Now you may ask, why would you go back? Again, the hospitaltiy and warmth of the room and managers, is good enough for another try. However, if on the next visit the food and service falter, it would be our last visit. Pros: Management, Bar, Most of the Food Cons: Lapse in Service, Some of the Food, Tables in the Back more

overly perky, loud waiters 11/19/2005

Every restaurant I try in Nashville has a down side; Park Cafe is no exception. The food was fine, the environment lovely, but the loudest person in the room was our overly chipper waitress. I sure do miss truely professional service that most big cities have; I've rarely found it in Nashville. more

Great service for the price 11/18/2005

This was the first time I had been to park cafe. Except for the extremely long wait, even though we had reservations for an hour earlier, once we were seated the service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgable. He was extremely informative about the wines. The portions were very filling and satisfying to the pallate. Pros: Service, Quality of food, Knowledgable staff Cons: Could be a long wait more

My personal Fave 10/19/2005

The scallop dish w/ coconut rice is to die for. In 03' I dined with a new date and we shared the most amazing seasonal dessert. In 04' I requested that dessert on the night I proposed to her. It was not on the menu and Chef Willie made 2 pieces specifically for us. In 05' she became my wife and we do our best to eat at one of nashville's best 4 or 5 times a year. A few of the dining rooms are a bit cramped, but an earlier dine time & request with the reservation can fix that. Pros: good god the food! more

A little disappointed 10/5/2005

I have only visited Park Cafe once, and must say I was a bit disappointed. The atmosphere is great, and the wine selection is superb but the entrees were lacking. I was initially excited about the meal when I saw the wine list and tasted the appetizers, but was soon disappointed when both of our entrees arrived bland and overcooked. The filet was overcooked and virtually flavorless and I can say the same for the scallops: bland and rubbery. The dessert was nearly good enough to make up for the dinner, but not quite. What's more, when the bill arrived: Buyers remorse. Pros: Atmosphere, Wine List, Desserts Cons: Bland Entrees, Overcooked Meats, Pass the salt more

A Nashville Must! 9/11/2005

Our appetizer, the calamari, was enough to feed a table of 4. The chicken tortilla soup was not overwhelmed with melted cheese like you might find at other restaurants, and it was very spicy. The port fig salad was my favorite. All the ingredients blended so nicely together. My husband got the duck with poached pears, sauteed arugula, and a sweet potato risotto. He was in heaven! The duck was tender and the sweet potato risotto was a delightful surprise. I got the scallops with potato gnocchi and aspargus. The scallops were huge and the gnocchi was done perfectly. Unfortunately, we were too stuffed for dessert. We did chuckle about the music selection as noted by other reviewers. U2, John Mayer, Jamie Collum (Lightning 100 stuff). Our bill with 3 glasses of wine, tax, and tip was $110. Pros: Food, Service, Wine List Cons: Music, Ambience, Must Valet more

User review by nashvillec 5/3/2005

First of all, their calamari is the best in town, the standard to which we hold all other squid. The food has been good the 2 times we've eaten there. My only problem with the place is the atmosphere / decor. i don't like the tiny, individual rooms. you can easily hear other people's conversations (especially if they are a party of 5 and you are only 2 people!), thus making you focus on having extremely hushed conversation, and trying to ignore some music execs who are trying in vain to remember who sang ""Sweet Talkin Woman."" (for the record, gentlemen, it was ELO!). Also I really hate the art work. But, luckily for them the service and food balanced these other complaints. next time, we'll just choose bar seating. Pros: service, prices, calamari Cons: decor, layout more

Always great 3/31/2005

Skip whatever new restaurant is the flavor-of-the-month and go to Park Cafe. The service is always very friendly, food accessible and consistent, and a very warm atmosphere. Best restaurant in Nashville. more

Park Cafe 11/24/2003

15 of us ate at the Park Cafe on Saturday night. We had reservations and were seated immediately. The staff were helpful and accommodating. The food was superb and the service excellent! Our server was unobtrusive, but managed to meet our every need, sometimes even before we asked. They also got all the dinners on the table, piping hot, almost simultaneously. No mean feat. I highly recommend this restaurant. The wine list is also impressive. more

An all around dining sensation 7/19/2003

For those of you nashvillians who really appreciate great service, wonderful food for the buck and a pleasant atmosphere, Park is the place. This is one of the only consistently good dining experiences I have had in Nashville. They don't act ""too cool for school"" like Mambu, and they actually treat you like you are a customer, and not an uncultured inconvenience (unlike Mambu). Hey, I think I may have figured it out...good management skills? Long live park. more

Shame on you for a bad rating 3/24/2003

One word, and it's not even a word: mmmmmmm. After reading previous and recent poor ratings, we were timid about going back to Park, but are incredibly pleased that we did. The experience was complete from food to service to atmosphere, although I must say the music selections were not what I would expect to accompany everthing else. John Mayer, anyone? So, don't heed the angry reviewers warning. Three educated palates gave the Park six thumbs up! Pros: good wine selection, great food, unintrusive waitstaff Cons: pop music soundtrack more

valentines day 2/9/2003

Im obsessed with there macoroni. And there intierior decorating skills are amazing! FOOD IS A DREAM SEQUENCE!! It takes you to another place! A MUST FOR VDAY more

Awesome Grubb 1/31/2003

This is one of the best places for the not-so-blah meal. Terrific service, wine and the dishes are FANTASTIC. If you're tired of the meat and three, same ole - same ole and like to have your palate tantalized, this is the place for you. The dishes are so unique, you'll swear you weren't in Nashville. Pros: great menu choices, pleasant decor, great service Cons: loud, tables close more

AWESOME!!! 1/2/2003

I have had dinner at Park Cafe many times, and it has always been wonderful. I do not work there but have known the Chef/Owner (Willie Thomas) for several years and worked along side him for a few also. I can personally say that he takes great pride in doing everything to the best of his ability. His kitchen staff is the best of the best, and his wait staff is on top of it. If I was to recomend a restaurant it would be the first on my list. A A+ for Food, Service, & Cleanliness. more

Hidden Gem of Nashville 12/8/2002

We travel from Kentucky to Nashville frequently in search of a gem of a restaurant amidst the expanse of mediocrity. Serendipity has always led us to paths of romantic interludes, so long that our hearts and souls welcomed it. So it was when we happened upon Park Cafe...each intimate vignette a display of beautiful art tempting the eyes as delightful morsels dance past the tables to their final destination where their delectable tastes nurture the recipient's soul. The wonderfully accommodating chef even kindly manipulated his masterful creation (at the chef's request) to allow my sweet husband to enjoy one of his specialties of the evening (my husband does not consume any cheeses, thus, it was omitted). I could not have been more pleasantly awed. Pros: chef's creativity, very romantic, wonderful staff more

Dare I say it BEST IN TOWN! 11/14/2002

All of the food on the menu is unbelievably great, and the staff couldnt be better, especially the bartender JJ, make sure and say hi. Dont need reservations if you eat at the bar. If you travel to Nashville on business, there is no better spot to unwind and feel comfortable after a grueling day of meetings. Pros: Tasty food, great seafood Cons: spendy more

Different 10/8/2002

The menu is unique and everything I've eaten is great. A nice change from mundane faire. You can actually dine just on appetizers, soups and salads if you wish. It's cozy but a bit crowded. We made reservations way ahead but still got ""punished"" with a cramped table. Pros: menu, food quality Cons: price, cramped more
