One of my favorite Thai places. The have a big menu, and everything is good. This is the place that used to have Thai Elvis. Musical performances sometimes come off a bit strange here, but are charming. more

Palm Thai 9/1/2011

I've never actually been in the restaurant. But we're close enough to the location ( hollywood ) that we are able to order delivery. And do we order! We probably have thai food from this place once a week. It's so friggin good! I always get the silver noodle stir fry, and my boyfriend gets the pad thai. Their egg rolls are fantastic too! The price is very reasonable as well. It's usually about 20$ for everything. If you're in the mood for thai food- this is the place to go! more

Thai Elvis, Good Food & Cheap Prices 3/5/2010

So after weeks of hyping up the man, the myth, the legend known as THAI ELVIS, my friends and I decided to finally check out Palms Thai. We went on a Friday night, and it was definitely a 2 1/2 hour commitment. Elvis had not yet entered the building yet, but it was obvious that the sprawling restaurant ran a tight ship, given the headset-enabled, walkie-talkie ready servers and host. When we were finally seated, my friends and I opted to order 5 dishes and eat family style. After those dishes and a cocktail a piece, the bill for four people was a stunningly low $45 after taxes. The kitsch of Thai Elvis is enough to make you go, ""...Is this really happening while we slurp Pad See Ew?"" But more than anything, it's just good food at a great price. Make sure you opt out of the MSG, because really, who needs that stuff? more

Great food, lousy service every time 4/24/2009

Have you ever been sitting in a restaurant and could not get anyone to wait on you? Have you ever had to take out your cell phone, dial the restaurant, and ask them to send someone to your table as every member of the wait staff acted as if they could not see you? Pros: Great food Cons: Terrible, terrible service more

Would go back again! 4/4/2009

I really like the food -- can't wait to order the hot chili paste clams again! Service was good, except for a little mix up: server/ cook ended up making our spicy curry mild, and the mild silver noodle salad spicy. Nevertheless, the flavor was still great, so we didn't bother saying anything! The dessert was a little pricey, $5 for a couple pieces fried banana but they were AMAZING with coconut ice cream (which we ordered separately for $3). My friend spoke Thai so maybe that made a difference with the service in comparison to some of the negative reviews below. I can't say since I've only been there once, but that will definitely change soon! Pros: Good Food Cons: Zero Ambiance more

Three Trick Pony 2/20/2009

Every time i go to Palms I order only the Pad Thai noodles, Garlic beef and Fried rice. How can you screw that up? Really it's no big deal. If your looking for a quick asian food fix that's in-expensive, this place is for you. The service is absolutely, positvely, with out a doubt, undisputedly, hands down.....TERRIBLE! The waitresses and buss boys are rude and impersonal! I almost did not leave a tip! If you happen to stumble to this place make sure you let them know you want your food brought out all in the same time. If you want dessert make sure you tell them in advanced because there so anxious for you to leave they bring your bill right away. In all honesty don't go! This place does not live up to the hype and I don't think I will ever go back after my last, terrible experience. Pros: Thai Iced tea and concluding your visit Cons: Terrible Service, Learn how to speak thai before you go more

I don't get it 1/25/2009

I don't understand why so many people rave about this place. I've been here a few times, thinking I maybe just had ordered the wrong things. Time and time again, though, I have been completely disappointed. Take my word for it...go somewhere else for good Thai. Cons: bad food, service not so great either more

Tasty Food 11/18/2008

I have been to palms thai many times. I like the food there especially chicken dishes. I like chicken stickers. Food is not spicy though. If you like spicy food you need to mix chilli paste. They have a live music. But always crowded and noisy Pros: Quality of Food. Cons: Always crowded and noisy. more

Not impressed. Use low quality cheap rice 8/10/2008

Thai food is one of my favorite, and I have had been to many thai restaurant. I have to admit I'm a bit picky when it comes to food. I ordered the Coconut soup with chicken, and the Paneng curry with beef. Those are my favorite thai dish and I always order those everytime i try a new thai restaurant. My bf ordered a pineapple fried rice. The biggest problem is the rice... both the steam rice and the pineapple fried rice, they used some very cheap quality rice that has very odd texture... almost powdery, with no substance. It might has to do with the recent rapid increase in rice price. The cashew and the chicken in the pinapple fried rice also had a very odd texture to it. Taste was ok. But everything just felt off in your mouth. And for the Penang curry. It was too sweet. I ordered medium spicy, but it wasn't really spicy, just sweet. And doesn't have the proper penang curry taste. The coconut soup was the only one that wasn't disappointing. A little bit on the sour side, but still acceptable. Thai ice tea was good though. Their price was cheap at least. Pros: cheap, can accomodate big group due to table set up Cons: food, not a romantic place more

Don't be fooled by those SCAM reviews!! (probably written by the competitor) 6/19/2008

I got to say that honestly i am not related to this restaurant at all, I'm only just a big fan of this awesome restaurant and the incredible Thai Elvis. I am a full blooded Chinese girl and what i love the most is Thai Food. I've been going to Palm's ever since they were in the old place. I kinda like the old place better which now turned in to ""Patio Thai"". more

We were robbed, REALLY! Too bad we can't give a 0-star rating... 6/6/2008

Food is ok, but not worth being held up! Pros: ABSOLUTELY NONE Cons: EVERYTHING, from the rude wait staff to the incompetant security system to the blah food more

weird, but interesting. 5/24/2008

ok, so the elvis impersonator is a bit weird (we hadn't read about it in advance) at the atmosphere is too, but the food is very good. papaya salad was flavorful - dried crab was interesting. meat and curry dishes were delicious. wild things are really wild (i have to assume these foods are not even remotely environmentally sustainable, particularly at such low prices) Pros: inexpensive, good food more

Bad And Repulsive Food 5/7/2008

I ordered 2 orders of Pad Thai Noodles with Chicken, bbq pork and Chow Mein. The order arrived within 40 minutes - I live maybe 5 minutes away from the restaurant. The order was wrong. They sent 2 chicken satay orders instead of the pad thai. We called and the man was rude and said we ordered the satay. Well after five minutes he said he'd send the pad thai - but we had to return the satay so he could RESELL IT!!!!!!!!! OMG! Isn't that against some law? They delivered the pad thai 40 minutes later - after my friends had finished their food. They demanded the satay and when I said that most restaurants would be happy to let us keep the wrong order the man said he wouldn't give us the pad thai unless we returned it. I was only testing him and I said it was wrong to resell it. He shrugged his shoulders. I ate the pad thai and I seriously think the chicken was not chicken - it tasted greasy and was not much more than cartillage (sp?). I was hungry and ate about half the order. After I finished it I had a terrible sensation in my mouth, throat and lips - and as I'm writing his 2 hours later - I still feel the sensation - kind of like battery acid when you change your car battery - I'm not lying. Anyway, I'm sitting here with the feeling that I'm going to get sick and I'm wondering if something was bad in the food. I won't call them because they were rude to me, but now I'm concered about their cleanliness. I have a friend who once got hepatitis from eating at a thai restaurant and I'm worried because seriously this was the worst food I've ever had. Even the Chinese Food and Donuts place on Cahuenga and Yucca in Hollywood was better - and you get 3 items and rice and noodles for $4.00 - but its pretty gross. DON'T ORDER FROM HERE! $7.50 for bad tasting and gross Pad Thai isn't such a deal. Plus they charged like $5.00 to deliver. I'll repost if I get sick. Stay tuned! Pros: none for take out/delivery Cons: disgusting - why do these people think they can sell awful food to Americans? Seriously. more
