BEST MASSAGE I'VE EVER HAD 5/21/2008

Best massages I've ever had - let alone in San Francisco. The people that work here are exceptional human beings and make customer service a key reason why so many people keep coming back. They gave my company a great corporate discount and I was instantly hooked - I've also referred numerous people and even handed out their business cards. The practitioners are very educated and they are great listeners - with their ears and their hands! Don't miss out on such a wonderful place! I highly recommend seeing Rodney - he's incredible at what he does! Tim also comes highly recommended by coworkers and friends. Enjoy! Pros: Service, Quality of Massage, Instant Results / Healing from Massage, Well-Educated Practitions, Parking Cons: None more

This place is the best!!! 1/19/2008

I love this place! The staff know how to fix every ache and pain. I often go here after I have tweaked something at acrobat class and any pain magically goes away! The staff is all wonderful and very comfortable to work with. Pros: Awesome, knowledgeable staff Cons: none! more

Psoas is the Best!! 5/21/2007

Psoas gives the best massage I have ever had anywhere and I've had quick a few. The owners of Psoas are professional, highly skilled and passionate about their work. They are also very friendly. I have been going to Psaos 3 -4 times a month for almost a year. Jenny was able to loosen my frozen shoulder and give me pain free movement for the first time in 15 years. I highly recommend Psoas every chance I get. They are the best - hands down!! Pros: Always on time, professional, great atmosphere (not a day spa, but a serious bodywork facilitiy), friendly, best massage anywhere Cons: None more

Best massage for musicians or any serious movers 5/2/2007

Scott and Tim are both musicians, so they "get it." I recently started working with Tim, who is unraveling some decades-old injuries. As a result, I'm more fit to play every day. Nina Jo Smith, GuitarGrrrl Pros: Knowledge, skill, results Cons: NA more

athletes , this is the best massage for sports persons in the bay area. 4/30/2007

I went to see both Scott and Jenny and either way received massages that changed my week. I used to be a strong athlete but have suffered at the hands of injuries and at 29 found myself in a lot of pain daily. Jenny and Scott did wonders for that and actually loosened up muscles around an old back injury that made a huge difference. I have neglected injuries for years and as a result have some irreversible damage but they have removed a large chunk of the pain from daily life for me. I was most impressed though when one day while working on my legs , Scott told me to go and see a doctor immediately and refused to work on me further. He said that my calfs were pooling. I went to the doctor and right enough I had a heart arrhythmia. I ended up having minor surgery and I am now able to resume treatment. Believe me when I say , these are the most knowledgeable massage therapists / physios that I have worked with and that includes professional sports. Pros: knowledgeable, interested staff, parking more

Great for Injury Prevention! 3/17/2007

Nora is a miracle worker. I first went to see her because I had a hip injury and wasn't able to continue my training for a marathon. Nora had me back on my feet in no time! She worked out the pain in my hip (which no one else was able to do). That was a year ago and I have continued to see her on a regular basis. I love to run but I do not do any cross training, don't take yoga, etc., but I do visit Nora. I continue to run injury free and I owe it to her! Pros: Easy to get to and free parking! more

Massage that heals 1/2/2007

Brian is amazing. I have been battling a running injury for over a year and a half, and he has taken me from having to use the scooter cart at Safeway to walking 12 blocks to the farmer's market and back. As other reviewers have said, this is not a spa -- It has all the comforts of one, but without the froof. Psoas is about comprehensive healing. Brian has used at least four different types of massage during my two months of treatment with him, and, more importantly, has helped to guide me through the process, letting me know what obstacles might come up and how to deal with them. Brian is a HEALER, and more than just physically. Brian is helping me tackle the larger issues that have prolonged my injury -- his bodywork is improving my life in so many ways. Best of all, he is incredibly flexible and works my schedule -- now he's even offering treatments on Sundays! Pros: Validated parking, accessible hours, highly skilled staff more

Best Ever 6/15/2006

Scott is fantastic. After as few as three sessions I felt more pain relief for my chronic back problems than I had in years of physical therapy and chiropractic care combined. I can't tell you what a profound difference this has made for me, the relief is something I had all but given up on. Scott is a very talented individual, a healer and just a very nice guy. more

highly Recommended 5/7/2006

Jenny is phenomenal. I pulled my hamstring two years ago and she is the only person who has been able to provide some relief - including physical therapists, massage therapists, and acupuncturists. In addition to being incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive, Jenny is diligent about learning new techniques and applying them when appropriate. She is also clearly dedicated to her clients. Someone like Jenny is a rare find and I feel lucky to have found her! Pros: knowledgeable, experienced, dedicated Cons: credit cards not acce more

Can't ask for more 4/14/2006

I've been to many different massage therapists and body workers, in different states and even countries and Psoas is among the very best. Scott has been my therapist and he is amazing. He has tremendous knowledge of muscle, joint and bone groups and their interactions. While most massages are simply relaxing and a form of stress relief, psoas goes beyond: they can improve your physical health, recover from injuries, deal with chronic ailments and reach fitness goals. Without exeggeration, they can change yoiur life. Pros: expertise, customized, skilled more

great pregnancy massage for the athletic 2/8/2006

I recently got a massage from Nora at Psoas Massage and Bodywork and it was GREAT!!!! I also sent my friend there that was also pregnant and she loved it as well....very accurate work. We are also both very athletic and had a hard time finding someone that knew the muscles and how to get into them appropriately. Must Try! more

It is more than just a massage! 2/7/2006

Massage at PSOAS is completely personalized. I had several massage sessions with Scott. Each time he first examines my body, my posture to get a sense of how I have been using my body; then he asks me about how I feel, most recent physical habits. He works on my body and each time I get a different combination of deep tissue, strecthing and relaxation techniques - tailored to precisely what I need on that day. After each massage, I walk away feeling great. In addition to the massage, Scott pointed out how by adjusting my posture slightly I can avoid some of the chronic back pain I have. And it works... Since taking up on his advice, my back feels so much better!!! This is not a spa! So no incenses, no lush colors, no new age music... But it IS all about your body. You have to go! more

Best place to heal in injury 2/1/2006

Scott is amazing - he really understands the anatomy, the different ways a problem can manifest itself and he knows lots of treatment modalities. He is helping me regain my range of motion in my shoulder -- 30 sessions of PT didn't help as much as a few sessions with Scott! He is very professional, and committed to helping you heal. Pros: free parking Cons: none more

scott for president 1/31/2006

Selfishly I almost don't want to tell everyone how talented Scott Schwartz is. But I can't help it. I tell everybody. I started seeing Scott last summer while training for my first ultramarathon. I went into the session with legs that felt heavy and spent. When I left, my legs felt lighter and more energized than they had in months. It's as if Scott has a secret map to my body's deep (and budding) trouble spots. His knowledge of physiology is truly insane and his intuition is incredible--he's as much mind reader as muscle reader. He's also genuine, thoughtful, and hilarious. And just immensely talented. If there were some sort of international contest for muscle/tendon geniuses, he'd be my pick for top prize. Having trained for so many races without the gift of Psoas, I can say I'll never train again without it. I'm now running better than ever. Pros: great atmosphere, relaxing, professional more

PSOAS is wonderful 1/31/2006

I went to PSOAS for chronic hip pain. Jenny's careful work has significantly reduced the amount of pain and the frequency of its reccurrence. She has also treated a painful arm injury, and I am now pain free back to my regular yoga practice. Her knowledge of and skill with different massage and bodywork techniques give me confidence in her ability to treat the body in a way that will help it safely heal. Highly, highly recommended. more

Pain free life 1/30/2006

Each time I complained to my friend about my shoulder and back pain, she recommended for me to go see Scott. I had so many excuses, but when I finally went, I knew I shouldn't have waited!! Scott has improved my quality of life. He is incredibly knowledgeable about anatomy/physiology, tailors each session to work on particular ailments, and is also just a pleasure to be around. Furthermore, every time I've had an issue, he has helped me, even when it's over the phone. I am so lucky to have his services!! more

Nora is fantastic! 1/28/2006

I am so psyched to have found Nora at PSOAS. I am on the constant search for a therapist who can go deep and focus on my specific areas of tightness. Finally, I have found someone who can loosen up my lower back and keep me in the game. I am a cyclist and a swimmer, and Nora goes straight to my tension. Her experienced hands, pleasant personality, and the perfect location of the PSOAS studio have got me hooked. I am a permanent client. Pros: experience, knowledge, location more

PSOAS Recommendation_Jenny 1/20/2006

I have been diagnosed with scoliosis many years ago and have had chronic neck and back pain ever since. I have tried many different types of massage but nothing seemed to help. Then a friend recommended Jenny at PSOAS. After only one session I could feel the difference. Jenny was able to locate where the tension in my body was coming from and focused on these problem areas. The massages have helped so much with the tightness in my neck and back and they even have a lasting effect, too. I highly recommend Jenny! more

Amazing Experience 1/15/2006

Jenny is truly gifted and solved my shoulder issues with one session. I wholeheartedly recommend her and am now a regular. Pros: Professional, Results, Highly Experienced more
