""I said, Let's Talk Thai"" 7/11/2002

Ok, ok already.Ill admit, I used to travel to Kendall to Thai Orchid restaurant for years, that is until I discovered Thai House II on the beach..ahhhhhh.what a relief! No more long trips (unless Im in the area). Thai House is by far the absolute best Thai restaurant Ive ever been to in South Florida. The Pad Thai is amazing, the shrimp are large and the sauce is perfectly balanced (not too heavy), you can tell that they make it for you on the spot. The Thom Ga Kai soup is light and refreshing, not too much chicken and perfectly seasoned, so you can savor the ingredients individually, you know the coconut milk, the lemon grass, and oh its just absolutely fabulous. The decor is impeccable, talk about some serious Phen Shuey energy flowing here. You feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. Its magnificent. Youll go home happy. more

overrated 6/30/2002

Trusting excellent reviews on Quickbook.com, I booked six nights at the Chesterfield this June. The stay was extremely disappointing. A ""continental breakfast"" consisted of a loaf of white bread, a bowl of apples, a pitcher of orange juice, and a jar of frosted flakes for the entire hotel. When this was depleted, no refills were given. The ""sundeck"" was an asphalt rooftop equipped with three sogging wet matresses. The $18 per day valet parking took 20-30 minutes to bring the car each time. After my return home, my credit card statement bears charges for the minibar, which we never used. A call to the South Beach Group accounting office was met with a voice mail, which has yet to be returned. I'd advise against a stay. Pros: nightlife nearby Cons: no sundeck, unwarranted charges, terrible breakfast more

3 stars!?...it's not. 6/21/2002

The hotel lobby appeared nice and cozy however the room was tiny and dirty. We had three people staying in the room and it was impossible to move around with the suitcases lying around. Since there are no closets, the suitcases had to be left out on the floor. Also, there is no mirror anywhere in the room which was very frustrating at times. The room was never thoroughly cleaned. We had towels with holes. Most of the people at the concierge desk were amicable except for one girl who acted like she was doing us a favor when addressing us or answering our questions. The only great thing about this hotel is its great location. It's very close to the beach and in the center of all little boutiques. However, if I had to go again I would stay in a different hotel. more
