Out of the Blue......Out of this World! 5/22/2006

In a word - exceptional! I went out with five of my female friends on Saturday night and we had a great evening. The decor is simple and stylish, with just the right amount of ambience. The staff are extremely polite, attentive and friendly without being pushy or overbearing. Most importantly, the food is excellent and (in my opinion) better than Audrey Claire. Go and see for yourself. Pros: Varied menu, Value for money, Excellent service more

Terrible! 5/13/2006

We made a reservation for my birthday, but we were forced to order from a prix-fixe menu because of a party there. The entrees they offered were the cheapest available - beef cheeks (SERIOUSLY-WHO EVER HEARD OF THIS?!), sausage, and trout. We didnt like the options, but we decided to give a good faith try, a huge mistake. When the servers ask if we liked the meals and we gave them our honest response of no, they were not really pleased. When we decided we just wanted to leave before even having desert, owner told us he would only charge us for one meal, as if he was doing us a huge favor. In reality we ended up being charged $40, only eating 2 appetizers. It was a rip-off, and terrible at that. Please do yourself a favor, stay away from this restaurant, and let it FADE into the blue... Cons: service, food choices, food itself more

Welcome addition to the neighborhood. 5/8/2006

This great new BYOB has quickly become one of my favorites in the neighborhood. Everything I've tried here was delicious and certain first courses especially stand out, such as the grilled raddichio salad and the vegetarian plate. Service has become quite polished and smooth now that they've been open for a while, so do give them a try. It's a cool, quiet alternative to the noisy, overpacked Audrey Claire just down the street. Pros: food, service, value more

Favorite new place in philly 3/6/2006

INCREDIBLE food for low prices. One of my all time favorite places! I went to Out of the Blue during my first visit to philly and i went back twice during my stay. The menu has a great variety, but my absolute favorite is the monkfish and don't get me started on desert. The service was excellent all three times i was there, the staff is very attentive but not annoying. I even met the chef who wanted to check up on our party. Great ambiance for a couple (get the booth) or a family. love the decor: simple & chic! Pros: excellent food, inexpensive, great staff more

Cozy Sophisticated 3/5/2006

Out of the Blue is the best new BYOB in Philly! As I strolled down 20th Street, I couldn't help but look through the marvellous picture window, at the welcoming fireplace. I walked into the restaurant, and left all of the winter cold behind me, as a server warmly welcomed me, and led me to a table. I thoroughly enjoyed each item from appetizer through dessert. The mildly tangy Grilled Marinated Octopus appetizer tantalized my taste buds, while the entree of Cornish Game Hen with figs, dates and pistachios satisfied the other spectrum of my flavor palette. The Cheese Plate, a third course not found at most restaurants, was a perfect ending. I have already become a faithful regular at Out of the Blue. You can visit this sleekly decorated-- not too noisy, but not quiet as a church-- setting, on any and every occassion. You will not be disappointed! Pros: inviting decor, delectable cuisine, superior service more
