Best

GGood place to relax over wine and smashing plates.

Worst

What a boar... The food was about as exciting as the food at Denny's... and as greasy. ... Over all I am disappointed, the flavors where bland and the Crispy Chicken was any thing...

PIzza was fabulous! 5/2/2011

We stopped in for a quick bite on a Tuesday (which is half price wine night so we enjoyed a lovely Dunham with our meal). We had the Rocket Man salad - which is arugula (Rocket is Italian for Arugula) and it was fresh and simple and wonderful. I had the Morel cream pizza with pancetta, goat cheese and fennel and it was FANTASTIC! The crust with thin and crusty with just the right amount of blackening from the fire. My husband had the Feste pizza and it was also great (although the crust was a big soggy from the moisture in the tomatoes) but the flavors were wonderful. I recommend this great Edmonds spot! more

A GREAT Neighborhood Restaurant!! 1/19/2011

We've been to Olives Cafe and Wine Bar 4 times: twice for happy hour and the food was so good we stayed for dinner; once for dinner only and once for tapas and wine in the bar. Each time the food and wine were delicious and interesting and the service was terrific. Prices are much lower than in downtown Seattle. We would eat here 3 times a week if we could. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the ambiance is comfortable, warm and sophisticated. The parking is free and easy. What's not to like? more

Come on... Thats it??? 9/27/2008

What a boar... The food was about as exciting as the food at Denny's... and as greasy. ... Over all I am disappointed, the flavors where bland and the Crispy Chicken was any thing but, a better word is soggy or plain. If this place calls it self a authentic Meditriean Tapas Resturant they should have food that is full of flavor and wow's you. I was not... just board. more

lets get real for a moment 9/27/2008

OK I have heard so much about this place we had to try it, What a let down the only thing great was the Mac and cheese with truffle oil. The pork loin picatta was more like pork rendings, and the Gnocchi was a rip off to the Italian cusine, it was like instant mash potatoes with raw flour, so my meal was all about greece and doughy cut out nuggets saturated in salty capers of abundance, the Duck comfit app was no great experience either/ You could go to your local grocer and get better/ I will never go back. Cons: found parking easy more

AMAZING FOOD, GREAT ADMOSPHERE 7/25/2008

This restaurant has consistently delivered amazing food. If I could, I would eat there every day. The lunch is a little more casual, whereas dinner feels more elegant. If you wanted to dress up and go to a restaurant with a European feel, you would not feel out of place at all. \r There is much more room now as well, since they recently just renovated. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable and the chef/owner comes out of the kitchen and talks to each guest and introduces himself. \r All in all, it is one of the best places I have had dinner at. The food is excellent!!! more

Great, personable service. What a wine bar should be! 4/25/2008

My fiance and I had been wanting to try this place for a while (mostly I had, because I wanted to try the truffled mac n cheese). It was better than we expected. Our server was so nice and friendly and knowledgeable about wine. We asked his opinion about the 2 glass pours each that they offer of Cab and Pinot and instead of just giving us his opinion (which he did), he also gave of tastes of each. When does that ever happen anymore? I don't know if this will happen every time we go in, but it made an impression on us. The interesting thing was that it was 7pm on a Tuesday and there were quite a few people in there. He still took the time to chat with everyone and make them feel comfortable.\r \r We also really liked the food (mac n cheese was good, not super different, but what's not to love about truffled mac n cheese). My fiances duck meatballs were really good too. Great spices and flavor. They also offer a cheese menu, which is fun. We had the ""bermuda triangle goat cheese""!\r \r Now, I must add that this place was perfect for us on that night. I think the idea is that it's a ""tapas"" place and you order a few things and share. We were fine with just each ordering a tapa and not overindulging ourselves and it was really reasonable. This way we could splurge on a glass of wine that we might not have tried otherwise.\r \r Tuesday nights they have 1/2 price bottles of really pricey wines (Like Leonetti) so if you are a foursome, it would be a great night to try it out!\r \r more

Perfect Secret Bistro 11/3/2007

One of my favorite resturants tucked away in downtown Edmonds. The wine bar is extensive. They offer great wine flights to try with your small plates. The staff is knowledgeble and friendly. Large plates also offered. This place is like a small bistro you would find in France. Only about 8 tables, plus the bar. \r I have visted several times and have always had a great meal. The truffled mac & cheese is fantastic. My husband always orders the mushroom soup. Salads are simple and tasty, try the beets with blue cheese, walnuts and greens, or the iceberg wedge. \r \r This place stacks up to any Seattle resturant, but you don't have to make the trip downtwon. We live close by and would go more often, but the prices are a little steep for a weekly dining experience. For a little spluge, a great romantic spot, it's worth the trip and the price. \r Pros: Initmate, great food, excellent wine selection Cons: often full, no reservations taken, can usually get a spot at the bar more

Great Little Cafe 11/18/2006

We had crepes stuffed with shredded beef and carmalized onions, split pea soup, mixed greens salad with candied pecans & apples, and wonderful sandwich for lunch. Recommend for lunch, wonderful. Wine deal was amazing. They have a ""special"" wine section with some fantastic prices. Worth the visit. more

Best Wine Bar in the North End!! 7/20/2006

My fiancee and I visited Olives about a month ago and had the most delightful experience!! Everything not only met but also EXCEEDED our expectations!! The staff was friendly and knowledgable. We enjoyed a crab fondu and it was heavenly!! We also shared a delicious apple dessert and a bottle of wine. The atmosphere is simple and rustic. Not fussy or trendy like so many wine bars. Olives really deserves more information on CitySearch to get it's name out. I encourage everyone to give it a try...I am sure you will be hooked!!! Check out there website as well!! They have SO very much to offer!! more

Why go to Seattle? 4/7/2006

I'm a bit surprised at the two new negative reviews as this place still knocks my socks off. It is where I go if I am not working in my own restaurant. Fortunately the food and service are still coherent, as opposed to the rambling negative reviews. Sounds like someone has a personal axe to grind...\r This place has it all, great and inventive food, good service, and you do not have to drive into the city. Where else can you get over 60 wines by the glass, a truffled macaroni and cheese that will knock your socks off, and servers who want to make you happy? Pros: inventive, great food & service, well priced Cons: fills up fast more

It saves a long drive 2/16/2006

Now I don't have to drive to Seattle for a good meal. This place has great food that is like nothing else within miles. I would definately recommend it anyone who loves great food and wine. more

I am quite surprised to see only a seven rating on this restaurant. Three of us dined there last evening and found the place thoroughly delightful!! We ordered a selection of about eight different small plates including a delightful cauliflower gratin, super medallions of beef in a wine reduction and breast of duck that finished out or entree orders perfectly. A definite dont miss. This is a nine plus restaurant. Mark Levy more
