Yes, the place is authentic, has a great selection of dim sum, and looks nice. On the other hand, I just can't get past the rude service and mediocre food. It's better than a l...

Shrimp ""n service out of this world 11/8/2002

I have been going to Ocean Seafood for 9 years now. It is my favorite chinese food place hands down. Authentic chinese and mandarin food, with very attentive staff and management. Every friend I've ever taken here get's hooked on the Honey Walnut Shrimp, one of their specialties. I also like the Deep Fried Shrimp with Spicy salt and the Sizzling Oyster with Green Onions. It's gorgeous inside like an emperors palace. You can even see the fireworks from Dodger Stadium in the upstairs room on certain nights. I took my family here for a birthday and 6 or 7 people ate like royalty including the Live Lobster and succulent Duck for around $100. This is a place I would recommend to anyone. If you've only ever had Chin Chin, the dining experience here takes you into a whole new realm. more

It's all about the dim sum 8/22/2002

The best dim sum in the city and fish so fresh it's still flapping. It makes up for the fresh waitresses with fresh seafood. Pros: The food Cons: The scary bathrooms more

good dim sum! 6/9/2002

A disclaimer first: I'm not an expert on the subtle nuances of dim sum. I also realize that one visit to a restaurant isn't enough to properly pass judgement on it--either good or bad. I visited Ocean Seafood yesterday for dim sum, and initial impressions are quite positive--I'll be back for a second helping soon! Our table got lots of attention from the carts, so there was never a wait for more dishes. Tea was silently replenished several times during the meal. Ocean Seafood also takes reservations, so if you make plans during the week, you can escape the usual morning rush. If you don't make reservations, go early; this restaurant fills up quickly. more

The Best Chinese Food In Town! 5/21/2002

Amazing! Chinese food is one of my favorite cuisine. I've been to practically every place in town for Chinese food. Ocean Seafood, definitely earns a ""10"" in my book. We had their famous steam shrimp with this special chili soy sauce. One word, ""awesome!"" The meat was soooo sweet and tender. You knew, it was definitely fresh. Later, we order this special fried chicken dish, as suggested by our waiter. It was the best fried chicken I ever had. I'm hoping one of these days, to come to Ocean Seafood for their famous dim sum brunch. I'm really anxious to try their popular chicken feet and their BBQ Pork Steam Buns. Trust me, Ocean Seafood in Chinatown puts authentic back into Chinese cuisine. Pros: Shrimp, Size, Service more
