I like this shop because it's like someone chose only the best and most interesting items. It makes shopping for your home simple. It's also the best place to buy a gift. The upholstered pieces are top quality and the one of kind antiques blend beautifully with the clean line contemporary items. This should be on everyone's list of places to check out. Not Impressive 9/16/2003

I went to this store because of all the great reviews on this site. Although I can usually trust Citysearch, this particular store was not at all as described. There is a very small selection, especially when it comes to furniture. The person at the counter did not even acknowledge my presence at the store. They do have some cute gift-type things, but nothing you couldn't find elsewhere. All in all, not worth it!! more

Favorite Shop 9/11/2002

Oblio is simply one of the best shops in the Boston area. You can buy an uphlostered sofa or a unique accessory and be assured that what you purchased is of excellent quality. I have purchased both home furnishing and gifts from Oblio. Diane, the owner, has amazing taste and an eye for detail. This is definitely not a cookie cutter store, nor is it in the ranks with Home Depot, Target or Pier 1. I have shopped all of those stores. Oblio has amazing lamps, old kinds, new kinds, sexy kinds, i found one that changed my dining room and makes the whole room seem like i have a fire in my fire place, and i don't even havea fire place. more

Fortunately this is NOT Home Depot, NOT Crate and Barrel or Stop and SHOP - although those have their place. OBLIO instead is a place that gives an array of choices that are NOT Mainstream - in fact so unusual sometimes as to be one of a kind. more

A hidden gem! 9/6/2002

What a wonderful unique mix of old and new! Its nice to find a shop that isnt just a ""cookie cutter"" of the one across town. I love the mix of products, some contemporary, some antique, some for luxury, some for necessity.........I just really like this store. I would highly recommend this spot to any friends that are re-decorating, or even just to buy a wedding gift. I give it A+ Pros: friendly staff, fair pricing, no pressure selling more

Upon entering Oblio, I was greatly impressed by the sensual aura that enveloped me. The earth tone colors, the luxurious textures, the soft lighting, and the pleasing music encouraged me to linger. I found that the owner's interaction was a fine mix of information and genuine concern for my decorative needs. I shall return. more

I love Oblio's aesthetic. When I'm there I feel like I'm in a beautifully designed house, from the furniture down to the smallest accessories. They've worked hard to find stuff that's just a little bit quirky, with great presence. A wonderful collection, and reasonable too. Warm & Fuzzy Neighborhood Store 8/30/2002

Oblio has been a welcome addition to the Cambridge neighborhood. From the minute you walk in the store you are greeted warmly and professionally. The staff is helpful not only with antiques but all the wonderfully beautiful modern pieces. They can put together small affordable gifts for everyone in your office to extravagant wedding presents. Not to mention the perfect slipper chair for your living room and side table for your bedside. It will remain a 'must' on my shopping trips. more

oblio is a special kind of store-unlike pier one which is great for mass produced items- oblio has truly unique items that you won't see in everyone else's house-the poor rating related to wine bags seems nutty to me- I've always received excellent service and really helpful suggecstion for gifts, furniture etc the owner seems to have a good eye in picking out single items that are really stunning- I recommend oblio highly- Pros: selection, service, location more

Classy, eclectic, treasure trove 8/30/2002

Oblio is my new favorite place to shop. I discovered it early in the summer and have since brought in many of my friends to share the goodies. The mix of contemporary and antique furnishings, decorative items, and indugences for bed and bath is spectacular! The scented candles are the best I've found anywhere, and I especially love the artful serving pieces I spotted there last week. Diane, Oblio's owner, is warm and gracious. OBLIO has truly unusual stuff but always pleasing. If you want to do something serious for your home - start here. If you are in search of a lark - start here. Excellent mix of antique and modern - Diane has a fine sense of aesthetic. Oblio is like a sanctuary. Regardless of what you are looking for - just going in to the store is a relief. If you need a treat there are all kinds. If you need to change something or a feeling in your home, Cramphin listens and always has perfect suggestions - if it isn't readily exposed - she's got a stash of goodies in the cellar. and GIFTS ! this is a perfect place to buy gifts for intimates OR people you've never even met.
