Best

Very nice place for a date, for parties or just a place to take your family. Has an amazing view of the Texas sunset.

Worst

Although the food and service were less than impressive, the view of Lake Travis is well worth a visit. A friend and I went just before sunset and it was unbelievable. Pros: ...

Giving this shop five out of five stars for quality and affordability of the items they sell. I would recommend it to everyone. Thank you so much. more

nasty food 5/11/2010

Absolutely the worst fajitas I have EVER had. No joking. The WORST EVER. dont go there Pros: never go this place more

Worst Food Ever--Seriously 5/9/2010

Absolutely the worst fajitas I have EVER had. No joking. The WORST EVER. I just thought the reviews were full of people who were exaggerating. We went, sat down at an amazing view, and then had some great drinks. At this point I was like, ""Yep the other people were full of it, this place rocks"" And then the food came...wow. Just WOW. I have never in my life had fajitas that bad. I had a friend who got drunk one time and boiled the fajita meat instead of grilling it--these were worse. DO NOT GO HERE TO EAT. However, go eat somwhere else and think of this place as a really cool bar and you will be in good shape. Seriously, don't ruin your good time by eating food at this place. Pros: View / Drinks Cons: Everything else more

nice sunset but thats it 3/17/2010

Ok drinks, but not my favorite place on lake travis. Seriously dirt parking lots, and 45 minutes for food? i try not to bad mouth places but they need some help. Pros: Cool decks Cons: parking mess, no boat access, average service on a good day more

Great view 1/20/2010

The view is amazing. A great place to go and have a drink and maybe some appetizers. For dinner, however, head somewhere else, as their food is mediocre at best. more

Improved Service and Improved Food 12/9/2009

I have been an Austinite for nearly 25 years and recently relocted to north Austin. A few weeks ago, in need of a margarita and a relaxing evening I was advised by a friend to revisit the Oasis(since I hadn't in about 6 years). I was amazed at the job they did rebuilding after the fire and the size of the new building. Not only that, but the girls at the front desk were beaming and eager to tell me all about the new bulding and the owner's future plans for a shopping center on the property. My waitress(I believe her name was Clair) was prompt and friendly and very knowledgable about the menu. Her suggestions turned out to be big crowd pleasers. The food was much better than I remembered! The queso, mango tilapia, and beef fajitas were a big hit. Overall, I was greatly impressed with the service, the food, and of course the view...from start to finish! Pros: Exellent Queso, Sweet Staff, and Amazing View! Cons: Not much spice to the ""spicy"" dishes more

YUCK! 9/6/2009

We drove out for brunch today. They list a Hatch Chiles omelet> I have never seen a smaller ombet. Could it have been a 1 egg omlet? Also, where were the hatch chiles? It was easy to try and find them with such a small omelet. We found 1 very small, piit would of diced hatch, we think. That one little peice could have fit on top of a pencil eraser. Pros: see how low the lake is Cons: terrible food - it doesnt deserve one star, needs -* more

Total waste of time and money 5/18/2009

Other than the view there is nothing to be had here. Its like you pay for the view and that's it! So we paid $32 for 2 people to sit for 1 1/2 hr waiting for our bland cold food to see a setting sun. Yeah that sums up our trip to Oasis. Pros: View Cons: Bad, food, service more

FOOD,SERVICE,MUSIC 4/11/2009

VIEW IS THE BEST Owner needs to revamp music with JAZZ on sunday like they used to do with KJAZZ/ Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes who have been playing at the speakeasy down. Pros: great views and drinks Cons: terrible service, food, price, music(NO JAZZ ) like before. more

Go for the sunset!!!! 3/23/2009

The Osis is the place you want to be if you are looking for a magnificent sunset! At sunset the bell rings and the crowd cheers. It is a very unique and impressive atmoshere on lake travis! Overlooking the lake and the many boaters, great for kids too! Drinks are good food ok, but worth every bit of the travel to lake travis. If you go no where else go here! Pros: Awesome Sunset, Great Ambience! Cons: OK Food more

Oasis does not care 3/10/2009

Never even made it out there. I tried to reserve a space to propose to my girlfriend and the hostess told me that they wouldn't even consider it. Said if I wanted a spot I should arrive extra early. Really put off by this, after reading the reveiws about the food I am looking for a new spot. Too bad, the sunset would have been ideal, but they don't own it. more

Oasis 2/16/2009

been to the oasis 3 times every experience was worst than the last. After the 3rd time ill never go back to the oasis. Fajitas were horrible got the fajitas for 2 with only 4 tortillas. Waitress never came around. The view is amazing but it does not make up for the terrible service and mediocre food. more

you pay for location/view 2/16/2009

This place is incredible when walking in. The view is AMAZING. Overlooks lake Travis from atop a 400-something foot cliff. Pros: VIEW Cons: food more

Perfect Wedding Venue 12/23/2008

Two months before our scheduled cruise ship wedding we had to change our plans because of Hurricane Ike. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon The Oasis and even more fortunate to discover they had one room left on my date! Jill Moore and Scott Tell were amazing. Jill was very patient with the many changes I made to everything. She was helpful in offering suggestions from the best place for the sweetheart table to tips on how to save money on linens. And then there is Scott - our actual day-of coordinator. Scott made my vision come to life. Everything was perfect. He was always right there when we needed him. He even escorted us to a perfect out of the way spot to take pictures with the full moon in the background. The entire staff was friendly and helpful and always there when needed but never obtrusive. And the food was incredible as well - we had many guests that had expressed dismay in the reputation of the cuisine but I can assure you the food was delicious! Everyone was impressed that we had such an elegant and expensive seeming wedding - but everything was very affordable (for a wedding). The only regret we had? That we hadn't planned a longer reception! Everyone was having so much fun it was hard to leave when the time came. Pros: Attentive staff, gorgeous views, fabulous food, perfect wedding/party venue more

Not for me - Never again 11/30/2008

Outrageous prices for mediocre food. A baked potato is not available for a $25 steak. You want fries with that? Pros: View Cons: Prices, Food more

Ruined my birthday party! 11/4/2008

The view is beautiful but that is where it ends. A group of friends met me there to celebrate my birthday. The waiter was completely rude and inattentive. Plus he forgot to submit my order so I didn't get dinner. When we asked him to remedy the situation he acted like he was doing us a favor by even waiting on us badly. We had 7 people in our party and it seemed like he didn't care because gratuity was included already. The manager didn't do anything when we complained. My friends shared what they ordered with me. The food was not good or near worth the price. I will never go back there again! Pros: the view Cons: food, bad service more

Icing on the Cake! 10/21/2008

Me and boyfriend drove into Austin from Houston...this place was recommended for dinner at sunset. We got there at 7 on sunday night and got a table right away. We got a picture with the sunsetting, it came out so beautiful. It was nice looking at all the scenery and the drive there was nice from our hotel on 5th St. We order chips, queso, mixed fajitas, he got a margarita and i ordered the daydreamer...delish! No complaints from us...the valet guys were nice...they noticed we just washed our car so they parked it right in the front on the pavement instead of out in the gravel. We dont have a chance to get such a beautiful view in Houston like this so we were made the most of a great dinner. Pros: View of course...Valet guys....Daydreamer...it can be family place plus its romantic. Cons: Nothing I can think of. more
