Gross Again 12/29/2009

Wow, I came here to comment about the bugs around the bar and found another poster with the same complaint. After the 2nd bug on my glass and the guy 5 seats away saying one was IN his beer we left. The bartender brushed it off saying the crack on the edge of the bar attracted them and told me to move to another seat. I told her I'd rather leave. Disgusting!! Oh, and they don't have frozen beer glasses - the beer was warm!! Pros: I'm speechless Cons: Uh, bugs? more

nice place to hang out! 11/16/2009

We had guys night out there on my birthday and had a great time! We drank lots of beer and met some new ladies there. The staff and some of the regulars made us feel right at home. I will definitely go again..thanks!!! Pros: Live music, comfortable setting, inexpensive & pretty women Cons: N/A more

The "Cheers" of Brandon 10/28/2009

I have been a loyal customer at this location for over 5 years, many changes have taken place but somethings will always remain the same- THEY KNOW ME! THEY KNOW WHAT I DRINK! THEY KNOW MY NAME! and best of all, I don't have to WAIT for a drink, EVER! I love the feel of this bar, it's so friendly, the bartenders and servers are cool, the owners will always stop by to say hello! I recomend this place to everyone I know - Forget the competion, no Green Iguana for me, too many people, its a meat market. O"BRIEN'S Tops them all. By the way, the Fish and Chips is the best I have ever tasted ! Also try the Steak Special on Friday Nights, AMAZING! Pros: Traditional Irish Pub Cons: None that I can think of more

GROSS!!! 8/11/2009

This bar is the most unclean and disgusting place I've ever seen! Cocroaches!! I can't understand why anybody would eat here. The insects are ruling the bar. The staff doesn't even seem surprised when one scurries past! So disgusting! Pros: The cocroaches think the food tastes great... Cons: Do I need to say cocroaches again? more

Unsafe place for families 8/3/2009

I recently brought my wife and 2 children to this establishment with the hope that I would be able to experience an authentic Irish pub atmosphere and good cuisine. What I witnessed was one of the most shameful and disgusting acts of senseless violence I have ever see. I found out from our server that one of the men involved actually owned the place! Apparently a dispute over a customers bill escalated into an altercation that left a man beaten and his wife/ girlfriend carried out and thrown on the sidewalk. The owner was the assaulter of the poor man and he kept yelling obscenities and had his gorilla bouncer drag the wife outside. I immediately asked for my check, paid my tab, and left. While the service was good and the one male bartender I spoke with was friendly, the violent atmosphere was obviously a drawback. I will never set foot in this establishment again. Pros: A few friendly employees Cons: Violence, lack of professionalism more

Wonderful place to have your wife abused 8/2/2009

As a former employee of this brandon area bar i've seen how the three rubes that own this place take advantage of their position to sexually harrass any female that walks through their doors. Apparently "irish hospitality" means they are free to manhandle your wife or girlfriend and then have you escorted off the property if you object. This collection of irish mob-wannabes hide behind their meager charitable works to cover their blatant criminal activities. Ask about their views on overtime and how they refuse to follow government mandated tax laws. Thankfully the Green Iguana franchise has moved into town to provide a safe and fun atmosphere for singles and families alike. We in this area are also really looking forward to the opening of the Brandon Tilted Kilt coming soon on Adamo drive. If you just have to have an irish bar to drink at, the Four Greens establishment or Fox and the Hound are also viable options. Stay away from o'briens. Let's hope that this bar closes and the morons that own it run out of town. Pros: Great place to reenforce irish stereotypes Cons: Irish "hospitality" as in, thanks for letting me grope you more

Good local pub 4/6/2009

Good place for great wings and cold beer the only down side is that it is a steelers bar. I dont mind that it is a steelers bar but show the local Bucs game on one side of the bar and the steelers on the other. Good mixed crowd most times but you do get your occasional young knuckleheads who want ruin a good time. I can undertsand the bouncer stories for those guys who have to take it overboard and get rowdy. Other than that i would recommend it for 25-30 crowd not for familys though. Ilike this bar and have been going there for years of and on Sean rice knows how to run a local pub, and always gives back to the community. Pros: Great Wings, Service and chicken parmesean Cons: Steelers Bar more

worst kitchen experience ever 1/11/2009

I worked in the kitchen of the O'briens of Plant City. While working there I saw people pick food up off the ground and set it on plates. Recook 4 hour old food and serve it. One guy even spat in a customers soup. hands down the worst kitchen i've been in in years. Pros: waitresses Cons: kitchen more

bouncers are horrible 9/2/2008

to whoever posted about the bouncers, i agree 100%. i was there for a friends birthday, and the bouncer apparently didnt like where we were standing (even though the bartender, who was a friend of someone in our party, indicated to us to wait there for our tab). He then decided to shove me in the back, spilling beer all over a lady sitting at the bar. The bouncers proceeded to yell at us and again i was shoved, at which point i decided it was best to just leave. as i was walking to the exit, a very large bald african-american gentleman in plain clothes proceeded to shove me in the back multiple times, despite the fact that i was walking to an exit trying to leave, i told him that, and i was in no way being aggressive. once in the parking lot, the bouncers continued to taunt us and push people in the group, one guy even shoved a girl that was with us. one guy that was walking with the bouncers indirectly threatened that someone would get shot if we didnt leave asap. i was there about two months later and as i was leaving, i glanced back at the bouncer checking IDs (one of the guys from the first incident) and he yelled after me "you got a problem?". the bouncers are definitely a bunch of meatheads that think that they have license to do whatever they want and from my experience do more to escalate situations than prevent or end them. that being said, i have never had a problem with the service, and i do think they have pretty good food. and, being a die-hard steelers fan, i love watching football there on sundays with the rest of the black and gold faithful. so check it out, but you better make sure you steer clear of any problems with the staff.... Pros: good food, good service, steelers bar Cons: you might have your life threatened by some roided out bouncer more

Best wings, atmosphere, and safe hang out in Brandon 4/8/2008

My Husband and I have been long time patrons of O'briens it is one of the few places in Brandon that are alot of fun an actually safe. I am no sure what a previous reviewer was saying about the bouncer problem...sounds like a situation someone antagonized or you would have heard about it on the news after the police arrived??? The have the BEST wings in Brandon and the staff from the managers, bartenders, wait staff and bouncers are superb. They treat their customers like family! We recently attended St Pup's Day and brought our dog for an awesome afternoon with children and other familes. SO if you are in Brandon looking for a fun Happy Hour or Dinner spot give them a try and be sure to try the gravy fries!!! Pros: wings, drink specials, events Cons: PARKING more

Be very careful. 4/8/2008

My friends and I always enjoyed O'Briens, but over time we noticed things were a little out of control. O'Briens has a serious bouncer issue, as in, O'Briens does not hire pros, just gorillas who understand their job description as "I get to beat people up for a living." And they take thier jobs seriously. On more than one occasion, I've seen the bouncers chase people into the parking lot and beat them up. FOR NO REASON. One of my friends went to OB's the other night, and now I'm feeding him pudding because he was chased through the parking lot and beaten until almost every bone in his face was cracked and he almost died. My friend weighs 140lbs. 3 weeks out of work, a bottle of morphine pills and the inability to eat, all for a few beers at his favorite bar. Sound like fun? Pros: It's close to home. Cons: Maybe ending up in the hospital. more

Brandon's Best Bar 5/7/2007

O'briens is the only bar in Brandon where you know you'll have a great time no matter what day of the week. Friday and Saturday are always really crowded, but I prefer the off-nights. Drink prices are a little lower than most bars in the area but about average. Service is awesome every night, a little slower on Friday and Saturday but there are a ton of people waiting for drinks. The food is average, nothing I've ever had there has wowed me. Tuesday nights at 730 they have trivia where you can when up to $300. Every night they have great live music. You won't be disappointed. Pros: Good drink prices, friendly bar staff, outdoor patios with bar, real dart boards more

Good drink specials... crowded nightlife... great music! 11/10/2006

O'Briens has long been a local favorite... very crowded on the weekends at night... mixed crowd, young and old. Great live music. Service could be better when you have the luck of finding a table... but it could have been the fact that it was standing room only. more

Favorite place to hang out 9/17/2006

We got a group of friends together and went there this past Friday and had a blast. The band was great. It was crowded as usual, but the outside bar staff was super quick for the amount of people who were out there. The dart boards are true boards, not the plastic tip stuff you see in alot of other places. more

I will be back there myself..... Pros: great ppl, great food, table outside for smokers Cons: not enough parking, service can be alittle better more

Love it...you should go! 1/10/2006
