Tried it once, never again 3/3/2011

It took six weeks and three calls from my doctor to get the appointment with a gyn. I waited in the waiting room for almost two hours. I was told this was because my appointment was a different time then I had been told. I dislike being misinformend. Even if the time was the second appointment time, I was still seen almost and hour later. To give my history in a hallway next to a copier. Then in the room for another nice wait. When I finally saw the doctor he spent less then 15 minutes with me and did not even pretend to be interested in me or my problem. The feeling that I was an annoyance rather then a patient to this man was reinforced when he interrupted what I was saying to dictate his notes on me (yep that was part of the 15 minutes or less he was in the room). They might be technically competent but given the lack of actual concern I am never going back. They might mistake me for the copier. more

NFWC is Unprofessional 1/18/2011

This clinic operates like a factory. In my experience, the staff is unhelpful and unprofessional, the doctors are in and out quickly, and there is little concern for patient comfort and privacy. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau for their lack of patient concern and general lack of professionalism. I was made to give health history information in a hallway, had the exam room door opened while I was being examined, was told to "take my time walking out of the office" rather than wait the 20 minutes to see if I had an allergic reaction to Gardasil, and have had multiple problems involving the discount card for my birth control medication. I was made to pay full price this weekend after the card (which they failed to give me the first time) "expired" two months after I activated it, and was told by a nurse that she would call in the number for me to the pharmacy, but if that didnt work "I was going to have to figure it out myself". I made the mistake of continuing to deal with this clinic after my terrible initial appointment, but will be transferring to a different clinic asap. more

The Wal-Mart of OB-GYN 7/2/2010

This place did not live up to my wife's and my standards. They are far too large to give any kind of personal care. You walk in as a number, that's all. There is very little continuity among their large staff of MD's. My wife had some problems and the on-call MD from NFWC didn't even bother to read her medical history and profile. What's worse, when I began to realize he knew nothing about my wife's medical history or current condition (despite the fact that she had been a patient with their office for over two years, and was 18 weeks pregnant with a fetus that was likely to not live) and I asked whether particular RELEVANT information was in her medical file, he said "no." Ten minutes later, a staff MD from TMH came in our room - she had read my wife's file going back 10 years and knew more about her history (including what I quizzed the NFWC MD on) than the NFWC MD. So the NFWC MD not only didn't do his homework, he lied to us. How can you trust such a person, MD or otherwise? If you want to be treated like you have a bar code slapped across your forehead, go to NFWC. If you care about your health and the health of your baby, find an OB-GYN that doesn't have a Wal-Mart/Sam's Club world view! more

Dr. David Dixon 6/6/2007

Words cannot convey our appreciation for all Dr. Dixon did for us during the time preceding the birth of our daughter. We appreciated the time he took with us in each and every appointment. He always made us feel important, like we were the only couple expecting a child in Tallahassee. When we scheduled an inversion with Dr. McKinnie, he made the effort to be in attendance. This made us feel so much more comfortable and at ease. When the inversion was unsuccessful, he checked back to see how we were doing mentally. Thank you. He could have simply gone on his way. We appreciated the effort to make us feel at ease with the idea of a C-section delivery. He helped us to know we were in good hands. We felt confident that we were in good hands with him during the entire process. We know it is important to have a knowledgeable and skilled doctor. However, we found it invaluable to have a doctor with such a caring bedside manner and kind heart. Dr. Dixon is both. It makes all the difference! We are just now beginning to think about a baby number two. That has led us to many conversations about our experiences with Dr. Dixon and NFLWC. We moved to Dallas, Texas several months ago and are looking for a new doctor. We have said many times, “How can we get Dr. Dixon to deliver for us here?” and “We’ll never find another Dr. Dixon.” He has spoiled us. Our next doctor will have big shoes to fill. We highly recommend Dr. Dixon and NFLWC to our friends in Tallahassee with a little envy knowing that they will be working with the best in town. We wish we had that opportunity again ourselves! Thank you for taking such good care of our little “Peanut” and us. more

He Knew 10/23/2005

I've had some female problems for years now. I saw one GYN.. no help. Finally we visited with Dr. Clements and he hit the nail on the head. He did some tests and sure enough, he was right! I just couldn't believe it! My husband was so happy that I finally found a doctor that wasn't gonna listen to my self diagnosis, but to be a real doctor and find the real diagnosis. more

A wonderful place for women of all ages and stages of life 8/20/2005

North Florida Women's Care, located at the top of Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, is a wonderful place for OB and GYN care for women in all stages of life. The OB and GYM areas are separate, which is a nice touch. The doctors are courteous and professional, with an exception or two (Dr. Clements is a great MD but his bedside manner is not all that good). Many patients are seen on a daily basis, so the waiting rooms are frequently packed, but they are clean and stocked with the latest magazines. The staff is very friendly and they try to get patients in and out as soon as possible. There are ultrasound techs there, and the new 4D ultrasound machine is available (for an additional fee, unless it is medically necessary) for parents to see their babies in a more realistic picture. The GYN section is just as nice, and the staff is just as helpful and courteous. It is no wonder why the place is packed. The OB section is convenient, since the women's pavillion and labor and delivery rooms are just a few floors down on the other side of the hospital. Parking can be tricky, as the office is at the hospital, so if you have a later appointment, you will need to come at least 15 minutes early so you can scout out a parking space. All in all, this is the best place for women to go in Tallahassee, in my opinion! more
