Norm's is Top Dog 6/9/2007

Norm's Eatery & Alehouse is a great place to eat because: 1. The food is consistently good--burgers, apps and the daily doggie bowl are great. 2. The staff are friendly and customer focused. 3. The owners care about their business and the food they serve. 4. It's a great place to have a beer sit back and take in the Fremont atmosphere. more

Homemade chips! 11/28/2006

I've been here a few times, each time was a pleasant experience. A big group of us went and ordered a variety of appetizers. My personal favorites were the pita and hummus tray, very nicely presented with fresh tasting cucumbers as a garnish. We also had a veggie tempura bowl, the batter they use is delicious and cooked perfectly! By far the best though was the home made chips, nice and salty and HOT! Cooked to perfection. We ordered a number of drinks, nothing stood out as too impressive, but it was nice having a cold beer and fresh chips. I have had breakfast here, the coffee is good, but I ordered their version of an egg mcmuffin and it was way too salty. This place is always busy and fun to hang out at. more

Cheers! It's Norm's. Or "Norm's is Cheers" 3/23/2006

Weekends in Fremont have begun to look a lot like Pioneer Square lately, but Norm's has made a conscious effort to stay friendly to neighborhood locals. Named for the owner's dog, Norm's offers a respectable selection of beers on tap (including local Hale's Ales). The fairly typical looking pub-grub menu is belied by the food itself, which is a cut above what you'd expect from a neighborhood pub thanks to Chef Mel, a veteran of the tony Queen Anne restaurant Sapphire. Norm's pub traditions include Wednesday's "40 in a Bag Night" and a highly popular Trivia Night. Hanging above the bar, a row of mugs engraved with regulars' names shows that Norm's really is a place where everybody knows your name. more

It's like your own personal kitchen! 3/7/2006

So, if you are looking for some good ol' home cooking, this is the place for you. Sorry to all you dieters and people who can't handle real, good, food.... While the meatloaf and mashed potatoes is my favorite I also greatly enjoy the burgers (cooked precisely as you ask for them) the pork chops, and the Funeral Fries - well, their name pretty much speaks for them and they are to die for. The sassy wait staff will always put a smile on your face and occasionly you will get to see Norm himself. No, he is not the owner... :) more

Norm's Eatery great place for casual food and beers 2/17/2006

Stopped by last night with a few friends for some late-evening food and drinks. The veggie mac 'n' cheese was good, and I'm told by a very reliable source that the chili, burgers, and pork chop are excellent. (But what's with the peanut butter in the chili anyway?) The on-tap beer selection is good (which means average for most bars in Seattle), and they have a reasonable selection of bottled beer. They're dog-friendly as well, so you may see a few four-legged furry friends cruising around. Oh, and you're able to order 40 oz. PBRs--in a paper bag, no less. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
To the uninitiated, the name may bring to mind a portly TV barfly, but this Fremont spot is, in fact, named after a dog, which is obvious enough upon entry--Norm and his canine...
