I was particularly impressed with the Medical Director Dr. Paul Ragan. The fact that he took the time to join the group for the fitness event showed his dedication to the patients. I am very interested to learn more on his approach and evidenced based practices to effectively treat opiate addiction.\r more

My life was not only unmanageable; it was unlivable prior to treatment. My last suicide attempt left me within minutes of death, and now I live a full and meaningful life. That's awesome and truly a miracle, a miracle that can happen for anyone who walks through those doors. more

Wow! Where do I start? I was what most people in the field considered a chronic alcoholic, a hard case. Years of counseling, physiologic help, medications, etc. and I was still in a suicidal state. Nothing had helped. After 12 rehabs, I found New Life Lodge. I am alive and sober today, living life instead of looking to die. New Life Lodge really was my lucky #13! more

I would like to say thank you again to everyone at NLL that helped save my life. Without your support I probably wouldn't be where I am to today. … I have held down a job for the longest time ever. I am living on my own and enjoying life with a clear mind. more

Clean & Sober for the first time in YEARS! 12/10/2011

Wow! Where do I start? I was what most people in the field considered a chronic alcoholic, a hard case. Years of counseling, physiologic help, medications, etc. and I was still in a suicidal state. Nothing had helped. After 12 rehabs, I found New Life Lodge. Any person with an addiction has a incurable disease that they are born with. Not all with the gene for addiction, become addicts. Environmental factors, circumstances, mental disorders, past trauma, etc. can all lead many to find relief in one form or another. AA started years ago to help alcoholics. Today, there are many groups to help people with ALL types addiction, not just alcohol. I felt I needed to explain a little about the other factors that feed the addiction process because it has a lot to do with my usage. I had a bunch of issues do to events that have happened in my life. I was in mental turmoil! And I used to feel better, block the past out. And it worked great for a while until, it bypassed feeling good and having a good time, and wound up being a daily need. An obsession and a physical need so great it took over my life. New Life Lodge not only addressed my addiction, they addressed the root cause, my disease and the reasons why I started in the first place. Don't get me wrong, the other rehabs realized what my problem was, it is a proven fact in the mental health field. New Life Lodge had the classes, groups, alternative therapy that worked with the mind and body, and some of the best techs & counselors I have EVER met. All that and the wonderful atmosphere, being able to be outside instead of inside 24/7, animal therapy, no cameras following your every move, great sleeping/living quarters, good food, & unconditional love helped to break down the wall I had up. I felt so much love and understanding there. When I return on Friday nights for the alumni meeting, the feeling is still there. My home away from home, my family. I am alive and sober today, living life instead of looking to die. It really was my lucky #13! more

hello? hellooooo? 8/5/2011

My husband is inpatient here and says he is being treated failrly well... I'm frustrated as Hell with them though. they go on and on about how crucial it is that the family communicate with the staff there and get treatment also and participate in their GREAT PROGRAM... but I have no idea how to get anyone to return a phone call!! He has been inpt 2 weeks now and it always takes at least 5 calls before someone returns a call. The only way I could get them to respond was to threaten that weren't goingt o get paid any more money. The day we admitted him I asked about the family program and they said ""Oh well we will contact you will ALL of the information and formally invite you!"" now it is 9 pm the night before the program and nobody has told me ANYTHING. I have no idea what the program is or what time I'm supposed to be there and between my inlaws and myself we have left probably 10 different voicemails on the last 5 days. I have two small children and no car and needed to plan ahead if I was going to participate in this ""crucial"" family help that they ""provide"". more

it's what you make of it 5/11/2011

there are plenty of bad reviews written about any treatment center, and there are some about new life. when i was there, there were a lot of court ordered fools just trying to ""do the time"" to satisfy the court who had no intention of getting help or trying to help others. you can bitch and moan about every little thing, OR, you can do what i did--- i got sober because i had too, for myself and for my child and for my family. NO, i didn't like it or enjoy it, NO, i did not like the most of staff, the food, the room, and most of the pitiful ignorants there wasting their life and others time, but i wasn't there for the atmosphere and camaraderie, i was there because i loved drugs more than i loved my child and i could not face living with the idea i would, not could, lose him because i was a total eff up and placing him in danger with my carelessness and disregard for his safety and well being. as my subject line reads: it's what YOU make of it, you can piss away the time being as stupid as you were when you came in and leave just as stupid, or you can use the time to detox and make plans for your and your child's life without drugs. NO treatment center will change you, you have to change you, and i hope and pray that is what i have done. more

New Life Lodge SUCKS!!!! 6/18/2010

I spent 15 days at New Life Lodge, and in my time there, I saw some things I never thought I would see. First of all, don't believe a word that they say about their facility on their website. The facility is a piece of $hit. If you are looking for quality rehabilitation, you won't find it at New Life. They only care about money. About 85% of the patients there are court ordered and don't want to be there. Some of them even smuggled drugs onto the campus! The nursing staff does not give you any medical attention beyond handing out meds. I have high blood pressure, and was told by the nurse to come back in an hour to have that checked. When I returned to the nurses station, I knocked on the door and the nurse yelled ""go away!!!"". I couldn't believe it. My final breaking point was how the staff can't handle the thugs they treat there. On my final day, one of the court ordered patients took his own feces and spread it all over the bathroom walls, sink, toilet, paper towel holder, and everything else. At that point, I signed myself out of that mad house and seeked help from a suboxone doctor. That is what I recommend everyone to do. I urge anyone who reads this to go anywhere other than New Life Lodge. It is absolutely a Hell hole. Cons: Plenty, just read the post.... more

scam 1/31/2010

im an adolescence at new life lodge threw dcs custody.. the 35 days ive been here i have only had 2 real na groups and they were at a free outside group called dafa house. they havent taught me anything.. i ask/beg all the time to get a more intensive treatment but all they do is lie or say you are in the wrong place hours ofthis is a behavior faciltity. your supposed to have atleast 4 group a day and 2 na meetings a week wich is on the contract. but you do about two 30 minute groups a day, and all it is is a feelings check and then people just talk and ignore the councelor. its bad and im here to help dcs and private payers to save the money and do not fall for the scam they feed you. its a total joke and the staff always talks about how bad it is and how we dont learn anything... dont let anyone tell you different, take it from someone who has been there 35 days and has 85 days left.the only reason a kid should go here is if he doesnt want to get help and just wants to look good for court Pros: nice staff Cons: no real groups or any structure. dont work a program more

BEST REHAB I HAVE BEEN TO! 1/10/2009

I WOULD RECOMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! THIS DOES NOT FEEL LIKE A COLD HOSPITAL LIKE ALL THE OTHERS I HAVE BEEN TO. IT FEELS LIKE HOME! AND EVERYONE MAKES YOU FEEL SO WELCOME AS SOON AS YOU GET THERE. I WENT TO CUMBERLAND HEIGHTS AND ONLY STAYED 8 HOURS. BUT NEW LIFE LODGE SAVED MY LIFE. THEY FEEL LIKE FAMILY. I ALWAYS WANT TO GO BACK TO VISIT. IT FEELS LIKE I GREW UP THERE. WELL, I GUESS I DID. LOL! I LOVED IT SO MUCH I WENT TWICE IN THE SAME YEAR (2007)! IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, GO TO NEW LIFE LODGE!!!!! THEY WILL LITERALLY GIVE YOU A NEW LIFE! Pros: NATURE ATMOSPHERE, GREAT ROOMS Cons: BAD FOOD more
