Neil Kelly did an excellent job remodeling my kitchen. Their work was completed on time and within my stated budget. The quality of the finish work is excellent, and the project manager and contractors were professional, talkendted, and respectful. I believe that Neil Kelly is a VERY good value. Their initial estimate was accurate, ad there were no ""surprises"" or additional expenses. The work they did included all plumbing, hardwood floors, electrical, counter and cabinets, and painting. The kitchen was, basically gutted, then rebuilt. The overall result is exactly what I wanted...a beautiful kitchen that functions just as I wanted it to. Neil Kelly did a highly professional job for a very good price. more

Janel was the Neil Kelly designer 5/12/2012

Janel was the Neil Kelly designer assigned to our kitchen remodel. From the very beginning we loved working with her. She is very professional, well organized and incredibly good at designing beautiful spaces no matter what the challenge. \r Our kitchen is fairly small. She helped us come up with a design that optimized the space and fit well into the overall design of our house. She was great at suggesting ideas and then building our feedback and needs into a final design. She also did an amazing job of setting expectations and helping us stay within our budget. I highly recommend her!â?? more

Neil Kelly did a complete remodel on 5/1/2012

Neil Kelly did a complete remodel on our bathroom. Everything was removed down to the studs and rebuilt. Our designer/consultant was Karen Richmond, and she was a professional in the proudest sense of the word: both very creative and highly organized (an unusual but very winning combination), she kept in constant communication with us. The project manager was Paul Lewis, and he was also just superb. He gave us a detailed work schedule which was followed to the letter and carefully monitored the many craftsmen who came and went in the course of the five-week project. Like Karen, his communication with us was wonderful, stopping by to follow the progress on the remodel every day. All of the many craftsmen were very good: some were truly outstanding. A married couple named Francois and Vicky did the tile work, and they are true artists who care deeply about doing the finest job possible. We couldn't be more pleased with the job Neil Kelly did for us. The project went so smoothly, and the work was neatly, expertly, and beautifully done. more

Neil Kelly turned our crowded, 4/26/2012

Neil Kelly turned our crowded, inefficient, and ugly Pullman kitchen into a spacious, practical, and beautiful kitchen we have loved since the project began. We will enjoy it for years and years. Therese DuBravac, our designer, and John Finn, our Project Manager, were right on top of things, keeping us informed every step of the way. They gave us the specific design features we asked for and gave us many practical ideas too. Definitely worth the time, effort, and cost, which, by the way, was made clear to us from the beginning and clearly communicated to us if changes had to be made to the original design. You won't go wrong with Neil Kelly more

I would caution people to be aware of 4/6/2012

I would caution people to be aware of what you are getting for your money. Neil Kelly takes a design fee and with this fee they create the design/plans and price the labor and materials for your work. The final price is supposed to be within your budget range and the range is stated on the design contract. This doesn't always happen, I know from personal experience. My final quoted price ended up being a lot more than my budget amount, and no amount of re-pricing could bring it in line. They kept cutting out things I wanted done to try and get the price down until the scope of the work was about half of what I initially wanted. Needless to say, no remodel for me, but I was out thousands of dollars for the design. I wish I would have declined to pay the fee up front or made sure it was refundable if they did not deliver within my budget. They are explicit this fee is non-refundable, so my bad in assuming they could deliver within my financial constraints. However, it seems to me they should have had the expertise to know that my budget was not enough to do the job. more

Neil Kelly Remodel 9/12/2011

We had a great experience with Neil Kelly. Our vacation house (one hour away) needed all three bathrooms remodeled. We also needed some updating of the kitchen (didn't have a dishwasher, for example). The windows were single pane and the only entry to the house was through sliding glass doors that were aluminum and leaky. My husband and I both have really busy jobs and don't have the time to coordinate any kind of construction project. Plus the house is really funky and we were concerned about ""surprises"". Neil Kelly costs a bit more, but it was one price. If they ran into ""surprises"" that had to be fixed, they would absorb the extra cost. \r Our designer was Therese DuBravac. Really warm personality, very accommodating (would meet us at night after work, for example), very flexible. Very patient with all our questions. She came up with some unbelievably creative solutions (like how to make a shower next to logs in the bathroom). During the remodel, we noticed some things that hadn't been evident up front (kitchen cabinet wasn't convenient, etc). Therese would immediately think of several options, make diagrams or mockup models, show us samples of finishings, etc. If we decided to incorporate the changes, then there would be an extra charge, but that's expected (""a/w/a -- addl work authorization""). She was respectful of our taste, even if she didn't think it was the best solution. Conversely, she was not shy about telling us when our ideas wouldn't work (like the space in front of the toilet has to be a certain number of inches to meet code, or the light couldn't be hung somewhere because the wiring wouldn't fit in the wall space). \r The project manager was John Finn. He and Therese managed all the bid process for subcontractors, scheduling, equipment, demolition, cleanup, everything! Completely painless for us. Very responsive team. I even called someone on Christmas Day because I couldn't find the new hidden key, and they were available! The crew was clean, respectful, friendly. I showed up unexpectedly on a number of occasions, and they were always hard at work. They cleaned the entire work space every night (even if we weren't scheduled to be back for days). They did great work and were good at improvising solutions in our odd house ( creating a step into the shower, rerouting the plumbing drain, making a new hinge on a trap door, etc). I really liked the fact that they treated the house like their own. I would get phone calls like ""John has been looking at the door frame, and do you think it would make more sense to have the door open from the left (was designed for the right) so you don't have to reach for the light switch?"". \r We had a few glitches along the way. A couple of times the workers set off the burglar alarm and I heard about it from the police, instead of from Neil Kelly. The project took longer than planned, but the weather was bad and the house was odd, so not unexpected. \r The only kind of odd thing about the company is that they assign you to a designer and project manager over the phone. You call the main desk and tell them what your request is, and someone plays ""matchmaker"" and then the designer calls you back. We won the lottery with Therese, but I wonder if we would have had a different experience if we'd been paired up with someone else. We were not given an opportunity to interview a different designer or change along the way (if we had been unhappy). \r We are thrilled with the results and would call them again in a heartbeat. more

Do not recommend Neil Kelly. 6/11/2011

Full Disclosure- We are quite aggrieved with Neil Kelly for taking a large chunk of our remodel budget and producing nothing but worthless plans Before the plans were ever created (and paid for) Neil Kelly should have provided a truthful feasibility study. They did not do the right thing in my opinion. more

Smoothest remodeling experience ever.... 5/24/2011

The team I had at Neil Kelly, including designer Therese DuBravac, Project Manager John Finn, and friendly, talented carpenters Wade and Jen did a wonderful job transforming my condo into a beautiful open, welcoming space. Questions were answered thoughtfully, problems were solved creatively, and all of the craftspeople and sub-contractors were professional, thoughtful, and cleaned up well. Small touches in design and construction really made the difference. And, they came in a week early on the schedule. more

Nice kitchen remodel 4/6/2011

Last year we decided to update our kitchen and were pleased to use designer Joel Fraley with the Neil Kelly Company. We wanted to retain some of the features and the basic footprint of the space, make some functional changes, but update materials and keep the remodel as green as possible. Joel had some excellent design options and suggested materials that fit our green ethic as well as our budget. The project proceeded on schedule and I felt the level of the subcontractors was generally very professional. Joel was accessible when questions or concerns arose. We're very happy with our updated kitchen, that retains traditional design elements yet has modern functionality. Joel is easy going yet has a great work ethic. You'll be happy! more

Great kitchen remodel 7/12/2009

We are so happy with the kitchen remodel that Neil Kelly did for us last year. We worked with Joel Fraley, designer extraordinaire. From the beginning, when we were just starting to think about what to do with our disaster of a kitchen, Joel was knowledgeable, patient and calm. He came up with some incredibly creative designs for our weirdly shaped kitchen, and worked with our ideas every step of the way. During the project, Joel was ALWAYS available, either by phone or in person. He dealt with the few problems that we had efficiently and graciously. I would highly recommend Neil Kelly, and especially Joel Fraley, to anyone who is thinking about a remodel, kitchen or otherwise. Our kitchen is beautiful and a joy to cook in, thanks to these guys Pros: Incredible designer, on time, on budget, on your side Cons: Project manager low on personality more
