I had the good fortune of stumbling upon Nana's a few years back. Since then it has become my favorite place for comfort food in the city. The baked potato soup is fabulous, an...

Top Notch 8/25/2006

I've been going here for over 5 years and Kevin at the front desk has done some amazing things for me. He's taken a dead car when they were full and taken care of it. We had a trouble car for a while and he just said bring it on in. We towed a car to his place and he took care of it. They've always done good service and gone way above just good service. They are AAA rated and have always delivered! more

So-So Soup Joint 4/3/2006

Nana's Soup House on 55th is a cozy, intimate cafe that wins atmosphere points but perhaps loses on prices. Though no Seinfeld-esque Soup Nazis reign here (the staff is very casual and friendly), the prices are a bit out there for a small bowl of soup. My lunch partner ordered a slightly larger bowl of soup than mine own (for a higher price) but to both our dismays, both soups arrived in the same bowls.... he was even tempted to go and ask for the lost difference! The wait can be a little long just for a bowl of soup (what else do you have to do but ladle it out?) and even longer if you order a sandwich/salad. Expect to see a lot of kids around also... the small space can get a tad noisy so I'd opt for a far-back booth if you can snag one. That said, the quality of the soup/salads/sandwiches etc is top-notch. The menu offers vegan, vegetarian, and meat soup sections that allows everyone to find something. Just good ol' soup. I'd suggest the the vegan lentil.... yummmmmmy! more

Soup for all occasions and a nice corner to write 3/13/2006

Nana's Soup House just north of U-Village is a cozy corner to stop at and eat something healthy. They have sandwiches, salads, and cookies to go along with their homemade soups. They usually have four "meat eater" soups -- my favorite is the hamburger cabbage because it has a peppery zing to the broth that goes nicely with the main ingredients. There are more vegetarian offerings but since I'm a minimal dairy eater I haven't sampled any yet. I also like their turkey sandwich that they make plain and boring for my taste on grilled focaccia bread. Very yummy. more

Perfect lunchtime spot for rainy days 3/8/2006

Nana's Soup House is the ideal Seattle restaurant-- the food is great, the service is friendly, and their soups are exactly what we all crave on the 360 days that it rains in our fair city. I especially like the potato soup; they serve it with a hearty piece of delicious bread. Also appreciated are the cut lemons for ice water and the private booths. more

Welp it's soup... 10/21/2005

I ate there the other day because a friend reccomended it. I'll have to say, it was ok, I enjoyed my sandwich more than the soup I had. The soup was cold and tasted like it had been sitting out all day. While the soup was not that great, the sandwich was good and the setting was nice. It is a small restaurant and is great for a one person, quick sit down/take out restaurant. more

Soup and Sandwiches 8/25/2005

If you are in the mood for soup, you might want to try out this small, rustic soup house in the Ravenna/View Ridge neighborhood. Nana's offers about half a dozen different soups each day. If your unsure which to choose, ask for a sample. Actually, I haven't particularly cared for the soup I've tried. However, I had an excellent grilled veggie sandwich there. There are probably about half a dozen wooden tables for eating on-premises. more

  • It may be coincidental that ""Nana"" is a friendly name given to grandmothers around the globe, but this Fremont soup shop looks--and, more importantly, tastes--like Grandma's house. The dining...
