Best Hibachi & Sushi in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

I've been to Nakama's dozens of times - sometimes with my boyfriend, sometimes friends, sometimes family - and every time I try something new (and I have yet to be disappointed). Whenever I make a reservation, we are seated a few minutes after arriving. The ambiance is unlike any other. I've worked in the restaurant industry for five years and I've seen both good and bad waitstaff -- and Nakama's has a wonderful waitstaff. The food has always exceeded my expectations. They have an excellent selection of wines & cocktails. But the chef makes the experience! Pros: Sushi, Ambiance, Amazing Entrees Cons: some chefs aren't quite as spectacular as others more

Best Sushi, Great Atmosphere, Friendly Bartenders 9/17/2006

Nakama is by far my most favorite place to go to eat.\r I've had sushi at other restaraunts such as Sushi Two, Yokoso, and Fish Market and they do not compare to Nakama. I met a guy at Nakama once who said that he travels all over the world, including Japan and he stated that Nakama has better sushi than anywhere!!! \r The bartenders are very friendly too.\r The VIP program that Nakama offers is very beneficial. I've already received a $10, free appetizer, $25 & $50 gift certificates. I cannot wait to get my $100 gift certificate.\r LOVE THIS PLACE!\r I eat there at least once or twice a week. \r My only complaint is that they need to expand the restaurant....... we need more NAKAMA! Best birthday date spot! 9/17/2006

I just moved to the city about a year ago. I always heard great things about Nakama and always talked about wanting to go so my boyfriend took me there on my birthday. The sushi was amazing! The sake and Japanese beer was fantastic! The service was and atmosphere was great! Sitting at the sushi bar and watching the chefs prepare our food was so much fun! Loved it! more

Awesome food 9/17/2006

LOVED the food and the atmosphere. The wait staff were friendly and polite. The food -- just WOW. The portions are huge and if you leave there hungry, it's your own fault. I can not wait to go there again! This is my new favorite place. Pros: AMAZING food and huge portions Cons: Need a private setting for a table for 2 -- that would be an awesome date night event more

Best Sushi in Town 9/17/2006

My husband and I love Nakama - it's not the ""tacky"" atmosphere my mind conjures up when I think of a Japanese Steakhouse. I love coming here with friends - it's a great place to cut loose and have a fun time - not stuffy. \r \r This weekend my husband and I came alone for the first time and sat at the sushi bar. It was warm and intimate. We had a fabulous time - feels like a New York scene - not the typical Pittsburgh.\r \r Love IT - thanks Nakama\r \r P.S. - Try thier new wine Menage Red! It was awesome! Pros: Sit at the Sushi Bar! Cons: I just don't like bathroom attendants - oh, well - thiers is at least VERY nice. more

Fun place to eat 9/17/2006

We have been to Nakama on a number of occasions and have always had a great time! It is a great place to go with a group of people. The service is excellent! They have a very friendly wait staff and great chefs! Plus, after dinner you can hang out at the bar. I will definitely be back. Pros: waitstaff more

Great Service at Nakama! 9/17/2006

Nakama was one of my first sushi experiences and it really turned me into a sushi lover. I have yet to try their hibachi, but the sushi is delicious. On my first visit to the sushi bar, I didn't know much about sushi and wasn't sure how and what to order. The sushi chef was very helpful and actually enjoyed explaining everything to be. It was very educational and tasty! more

I've dined at Nakama several times and had great experiences there EVERY TIME!!! The chefs are very personable and professional and the entire wait staff is very attentive to your needs. I recently went there for my 21st birthday in August and chose the surf and turf...AMAZING as always and they made it a very memorable birthday dinner!!!! Simply Stated : Surprisingly Delicious ! Worth the price! The atmosphere is busy and fun..definitely have to make reservations -even on a Monday!! That tells you something right there! Best Place To Eat and Meet People 9/17/2006

I have eaten at Nakoma a number of times and have hung at the bar area with my friends. The food in unbelievable and it is also fairly reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. The bar area is a nice place to hang out with your friends and drink an assortment of delicious martinis. The atmosphere is great to relax after a hard day at work. Overall I think Nakoma is a great addition to Southside and one of the best places to eat and drink in Pittsburgh. more

Best Japanese food in the city. 9/17/2006

My daughter adores Japanese food, so I took her and her husband to Nakama for her 34th birthday.......we were VERY pleasantly surprised.\r The food was delicious, especially the soup as it was made from REAL beef stock, not colored chicken broth. The gentleman preparing our food was personable and competent.\r We had a little wait at the end of the meal waiting for our waitress to bring us change, but as soon as a manager saw we were waiting, he had us taken care of in minutes.\r I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and intend to go back many, many, times in the future.\r Thank you for listening. I have eaten at Nakama numerous times and it is a great restuarant. Actually, one of the best in Pittsburgh. The Sushi is phenominal and the Hibachi style cooking is fun and taste great. Everyone should try it!!! more

Can't beat the sushi! 9/17/2006

Sushi can be a tough thing to order, especially if you don't know what you are ordering. Nakama Japanese Steakhouse has the best sushi in the region, served with one thing you may not get anywhere else... KNOWLEDGE! You'll never get a bad recommendation from their staff. I never had a bad meal there. And the service is both speedy and friendly. I'm going back many times! more

Best service ever!!! 9/17/2006

We had never been to Nakama and I made reservations online for my husbands birthday. We arrived 45 minutes early and were seated right away. After our salad, the chef came over to cook and the grill was not ready to cook our table's order. The waiter took it upon himself to talk to the manager and we were given a discount on our bill for only waiting an extra 10 minutes. We then in turn gave the waiter our discount for the excellent service we had recieved. I can't wait to return and take our kids. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
