After watching one of those scary Dateline specials, I decided to forgo manicures and pedicures completely, unless a close friend could verify that it was a good place. And I could see for myself.
Nail Pro in the Polaris Fashion Center met all the requirements I could think to lay down. A good friend and her family have been going there regularly for more than a year with good results, so I decided to go along and check it out. The salon is clean and orderly, there are health code requirements posted at various places throughout, the professionals wear gloves for pedi's and clean the foot soak tubs, and everyone has their license w/ photo and qualifications on their desks. Being big on sterilization/ anti-bac & germ-free, I looked for evidence, and definitely found it throughout the salon.
So, I tried it out. It was relaxing, quick, but not too quick (it's got to feel like a splurge), and not a bad price either. It was also one of the best foot massages of my life... if you go, ask for Phi. They are very polite, and make you feel comfortable. They were also really nice about explaining things to a newbie who asks a lot of questions.
Manicures in a large variety of colors run $15 and pedis, $30, while a combo is $42. They also offered acrylic, and I believe that was $30 for a full set. It's been more than a week now, and the pedicure is in perfect condition. Looks like I'll be going back to splurge on a manicure a little sooner than a pedicure. They're open 6 days a week from 10am-9pm, and Sunday 12-6
