Actually good pizza 2/20/2010

We went to Mystic for the day. Little did we know, not much goes on in Mystic during the winter. Regardless, we wanted to eat at Mystic Pizza so that we could say we ate there the next time we watched the movie. Surprisingly (or maybe not), the pizza was pretty good. We got the house special (no mushrooms) and were very satisfied. I'd actually recommend it if anyone was going to be in the area. A couple of final notes: if you're going to visit here and expect it to look like the movie, you'll be disappointed. Apparently they did a big remodel recently. They had a couple TVs inside playing the movie on repeat, but no one decided to pay any attention to correcting the aspect ratio on the TVs, so it looked lame. Someone should fix that for them. Pros: Pizza Cons: Doesn't look like the movie more

Great pizza (like the movie) 10/6/2009

My family and I ate at Mystic Pizza while on a trip to the East Coast. The pizza was great and the atmosphere very quaint. I don't recall the service being poor at all -- and the pizza was excellent! Pros: Yummy pizza & homey atmosphere Cons: None I recall more

Don't Listen to the bad reviews! 3/30/2008

My wife and I are NOT affiliated with the restaurant at all, we live in New Hampshire and whenever we are in the area we eat there. The pizza has a wonderful crust and the cheese and toppings are fresh with a wonderful flavor. We always eat one, and have one half-baked that we can cook at home later. No problem parking, park behind the Bank of America if you are just staying for lunch and then leaving. Ask the pizza to be cooked well done and you'll never go wrong. These people who wrote these other reviews should have their heads checked.......GO THERE!...LOVE IT!!!!!!! more

Loved the movie & the pizza 1/31/2008

I, who avoids flying (only flown twice) flew from Texas just to each this pizza. I now can't wait to go back. This was nothing like Texas pizza. The feel was like a hometown pizza parlor, not fast food pizza like Dominos or Papa Johns. The service was great, the place was clean, the pizza was amazing and it was alot of fun looking at the photos from the movie. The gift shop area was crowded but the people were really nice and I would say the whole experience was worth the wait (about 30 minutes). Winning a trip and being able to choose anywhere in the US to go, I think I made the right choice! Just try it. . . you might like it. Pros: All of it Cons: Too far from Texas more

Mystic Pizza 1/6/2008

I live in Rhode Island and have been wanting to go to Mystic Pizza ever since I saw the movie. I finally went after taking my kids to the Mystic Aquarium, and the pizza was disappointing. The service was good, the restaurant was big and nicely decorated with photos of movie stars on the walls. They even had a gift shop to buy overpriced hats and T shirts. In a nutshell, the pizza had way too much cheese, too little sauce (which was flavorless) and the dough was thick and soggy. The worst part of the pizza was that it was greasy. My husband sad it was ""fat people pizza"" I did not take the leftovers home, so that should say something. The pizza is pretty bad, plain and simple. If you're in Mystic, go to the restaurant and walk around inside if you're curious, but don't eat there. It's a quaint downtown area to walk around if you can find a parking spot. The other reviewers nailed it on the head. I am sure the one positive review was from someone connected to the restaurant. Next time I go, I might just go to a seafood restaurant, maybe they'll get that right. Pros: Nice Atmosphere Cons: Bad Pizza more

Just plain bad pizza 9/2/2007

This was a very bland and almost completely flavorless pie. The crust was doughy and seemed undercooked, kind of like wet wonder bread. The only taste involved in the pizza was a generous slathering of grease. I was driving through the area and stopped here based on name and reputation alone. Bad idea. They seem to be resting on their laurels, if it ever was good. Dominoes of Pizza Hut is better. Pros: bad pizza Cons: makes everything else seem better more

Mystic Pizza......................blah!!!! 8/27/2007

My boyfriend and I went to Mystic Pizza. It was the most horrible pizza I had ever had. The pizza I have eaten in school was better than this pizza. I had to choke down what I did have the cheese was burnt, no sauce, dough too thick. The girls who worked there was rude and seemed not interested in what they were suppose to be doing which is making a customer happy. All I can say to end this is I am glad I live in NY. Where we know good pizza. And Mystic Pizza was not good by far. more

Not really worth it. 4/13/2007

Mystic Pizza has revamped their interior since I was a kid (and since the movie brought in a huge boost in sales), which is nicer but it has lost the a little of the charm. Although the ambiance is nice the pizza still leaves a lot to be desired. The sauce tastes like cheap ketchup. I would stick to the salads or sandwiches. Pros: nice ambiance Cons: pizza sauce tastes like cheap katchup more

Avoid 7/15/2006

It's totally phony...I think most of the filming was done in Stonington Borough. Regardless, the pizza hasn't changed in years...it's thick, greasy, and not with the times. We get a chuckle out of people having their pictures taken in front of the establishment, thinking this is where all the ""action"" was filmed. The place is riding on the name, not on the good food. We lived in Mystic for many years, and avoided this place, like the plague. more

Overrated - TERRIBLE Management 5/29/2005

The food is average to below average. I love pizza, and this certainly isn't the best. Almost identical to their FROZEN pizza's found in supermarkets. As for the management, well, let's just say they are not the greatest. I tried (twice) to book a party there because of the location, and both times got screwed. Kept asking for more money for the deposit because ""they are so busy."" Felt like I was being taken advantage of. Seems to me that they are still riding high on that movie. Give it up, that was 1988. Bottom line - good if you are hungry and walking in downtown Mystic. Otherwise, don't go out of your way. Pros: Location Cons: Management, Average Food more

All Time Worst Pizzas 1/26/2004

Anyone who has a even slightest idea of what a real pizza tastes like should not go to this restaurant. The pizza should not even be called pizza. Especially since Mystic is only an hour's drive from the pizza mecca of New Haven. The crust was doughy, too sweet and too thick. The cheese did not seem to be all mozzarella and there was hardly any sauce. The little sauce that existed tasted like it was doused in garlic powder. I do not recommend this place to anyone. The service was horrible and slow as well. Cons: Bad Service, Terrible Pizza, Tourist Trap more

FAV PIZZA PLACE - ANYWHERE! 7/13/2002

When my girlfriend pulled off the I-95 exit and headed to this little place I was skeptical of what the pizza was going to be like. Even moreso after she mentioned there was a movie made about this place. Usually places that are immortalized in movies or TV shows (see, Cheers) are all hype and overpriced, and tend to go downhill in quality, very fast. That was not the case w/ Mystic Pizza though. This pizzeria had the most wonderful and heavenly pizza known to man. We ordered two and they were scrumptious & served w/ a smile. Very insanely excellent combined with every positive flavor word is the concept we're trying to get across here. Pros: Best pizza on planet! more
