...BEST.... 3/29/2011

This place is the best!!!!! Not only is the food wonderful and reasonably priced, but the staff is absolutely lovely...... ..and as a previous reviewer wrote, I love the cabbage - especially in their better than anywhere won ton soup.... If you go there once or twice, they will know you and treat you as a prince or as a princess...... I'm new to this neighborhood, and now I'm a regular...they hooked me with their great food, good ambiance, and, most especially - their kindness..... MichaelW.......... more

My Thai Favorite! 5/29/2009

The best Thai food in Center City. The pad thai is amazing! And the my thai soup! WOW! Love the ambience, a cozy eclectic environment. Devoted to My Thai. Pros: Food and service. Cons: Parking. more

GREAT FOOD and friendly service 6/25/2007

I have to agree with the no taste phad thai because my friend got the veggie phad thai. i think its because it is vegetarian. all vegetarian meals have no taste and thats sad for those who got it. Guys, dont get the vegetarian phad thai unless you like vegetables. the regular phad thai, however, was amazing. at first it was a little weird but after a few more bites, it was absolutely DELICIOUS. also i tried the MY THAI DUCK, that was amazing too especially the crab meat on top. The atmosphere is very comfortable, very romantic with the brick wall...but the tables are a little too tiny for my liking. The service was actually pretty good so i dont know what you guys are talking about with the dismissive stuff because the waiters and waitresses were quite respectly. Maybe the one i got was nice. I also went in on a friday and it was packed. i stayed there for about three hours with friends and after 9pm there were less people so i suggest people going after 9pm. Pros: Thai food Cons: Parking more

Delicious Food 6/23/2007

The food, service, and atmosphere was exceptional. The staff was very friendly and the food, absolutely delicious! I must say the cost of the food is more epensive than your average Chinese or Italian but it was worth it. Of course people are inlined to their own opinions but i think that My Thai has a one of a kind look with authenticThai designs. The bad point is that kids do not fit into the resturant but compared to all the Thai cuisines I have tasted, My Thai's food is the cream of the crop. Pros: Food, service Cons: parking more

Terrible Pad Thai, overpriced, really a disappointment 6/3/2007

I completely agree with the last reviewer. The Pad Thai has Zero Taste. And is missing a few key ingredients, unbelievably. TINY portions, at a price that is far higher than the normal price at most restaurants for Pad Thai. I was completely surprised at how lousy this place is. When wait staff was informed of the tiny serivings and the lack of taste, their response was dismissive and condescending. I'd stay away from this place. This was a Friday night, and there were only a few patrons, so I think word has gotten around that it's not what it once was. Completely disappointed, and a little peeved at having paid so much for what may be the worst Pad Thai ever! Pros: Nothing. Cons: Dismissive staff. AWFUL Pad Thai, that is about twice the price of other Thai restaurants,at tiny servings, with zero taste. more

Pad thai was not delicious at all! 6/6/2006

I was really looking forward to eating at My Thai based on the great reviews I had read on this website. I got the medium spicy pad thai with tofu and was very disappointed. The food had absolutely no flavor and the tofu was uncooked. I've eaten a lot of Thai food (especially pad thai) and I think that this was the worst pad thai I've ever had. To be fair, this was the first time I'd eaten there and the only dish I've had there, so maybe the other dishes are better. Also, the meal cost $12 - more expensive than I thought it would be and more than it should have been considering how bad the meal was. more

Delicious thai food at a homely environment 3/5/2006

I was in the town for a business trip and found this place about a mile away from the hotel. The walk was surely worth it. The ambience makes you feel as if you are in your friend's house. The candles, the sitting in this restaurant is cosy and something that will draw you close. The food seems authentic Thai. If you like spicy food, go for their spicy dishes - you will not repent. The service was cordial and overall it's been a nice experiment. Even the restroom has fragrant candles and is romantic :-) Pros: Food, Service, romantic more

My Thai is the Best Thai 10/28/2004

I'm a happy regular customer. My Thai is the best Thai in Philly. I've tried several Thai restaurants in the city and they just don't compare. Service is usually good, the food is uniquely different, and portions are satisfying. Here's a tip: the best way to beat the crowd is to come in before 7:00. Pros: romantic more

A very good choice. 8/14/2004

If you're looking for quality Thai food at a reasonable price, it's hard to go wrong at My Thai. Everything always tastes wonderfully fresh, the curries are perfect, and the portions quite satisfying. The only dishes I ever found disappointing were the vegetarian entrees on the menu (too bland for me), but you can ask for virtually any of the standard dishes to be prepared with tofu instead of meat, and I have a vegetarian friend who has always been happy doing that when we eat there. The decor is pleasant and attractive. I would definitely recommend showing up early, however, as this is a very popular place in the neighborhood and really fills up by 7pm. I wish they were open for lunch as well, but I can understand that there probably isn't the business to support lunch service for them in this neighborhood. Pros: food quality, atmosphere, inexpensive more

Pleasant Dining Experience 5/24/2004

I recently tried My Thai for the first time. I was surprised at how busy it was (on a Saturday night). We got a table pretty fast. I didn't know what to order but the friendly waitress recommended the chicken satay as an appetizer and the shrimp panang, a peanut curry, so I had that and it was great. My friend got the prix fixe special (a soup, appetizer, and entree) for less than $15. We had to wait a bit for our food because it was so busy but it was well worth the wait. Pros: close to bars, cheap, friendly service more

my thai is the best 7/19/2003

My Thai has great authentic Thai food but they also have some interesting fusion dishes with a touch of American and Italian influences, like the Hawaiian Shrimp Pasta and Veal Chop. If you want authentic Thai food, go for a curry, stir-fry, or their famous Pad Thai-it's the best in town. They allow you to substitute vegetables and tofu for most meat dishes and they will make dishes as spicy or mild as you like it. Don't forget to order a soup! They are all delicious-but don't take my word for it! Pros: great food, wide selection, friendly service Cons: only open for dinner more

Consistently good 7/16/2003

I've been there around 5 times in the last two months. The service has always been good, and I've liked every dish I've ordered. And whenever I've ordered curry, I've always offered extra rice !!! Pros: Good food, Good Service, Decent Prices more

favorite thai ever 12/8/2002

service is consistently excellent, staff treats you like a real guest in their home. if you specifically ask for something extra extra spicy they will not hold back, their XXX hot and sour shrimp soup is one of the spiciest dishes ive ever eaten and unbelievably addictive. this is my favorite overall restaurant of any type in the city. in fact we were recently in San Francisco (a great food town itself) and dreamed of getting back to My Thai the whole time! more

Feels like Home 9/24/2002

I went to My Thai last Friday and it was wonderful! The service was attentive, the atmosphere was comfortable and the food was delicious! Very reasonably priced too! I had the pork spring roll and the filet with the peppercorn sauce. I went with a big group so I got the chance to sample a little bit of everything. I was really impressed.....I'll definatley be back to dine at My Thai soon. Pros: Inexpensive, easy to find parking more

  • In Short
Couples fill the floral-clothed, candlelit tables, huddling over crocks of chicken curry or wonton soup, their backs to the tapestry-covered brick wall. Start with one of the coconut-based soups, cabbage-filled spring rolls, or a crisp salad of bean sprouts, mushrooms, tofu, and grilled shrimp dressed in peanut sauce. Classic dishes like honey-sweet pad noodles and spicy-rich chicken or beef curry pots are simple and satisfying.
