I had high hopes of this place after searching the internet for a good sushi restaurant and saw that they won the award for "best sushi" in Raleigh. But after my visit, it was cl...

OMG... All I Can Say Is FABULOUS! 8/5/2006

I could not wait to try this restaurant with The Triangle Singles Dining Out Group (Meetup). We went and had a FABULOUS dinner... We all got various sushi dishes, and everyone was raving about how delicious everything was... Pros: Excellent food, service, atmosphere and prices Cons: parking is a nightmare :) more

Great Food! 8/4/2006

We were thrilled with the interior of the restaurant, and the food is to die for! Especially the deserts.....we were seated quite quickly and drinks are excellent. Sadly it appears that there is no joy in the waitstaff. Seems to have some looming atmosphere I wish I could put my finger on.... Would be best to lighten up a bit or something? Anyway, it's a keeper, and will be back!Try the Punk Rock Roll! Pros: FOOD Cons: Employees seem unhappy more

wow 8/4/2006

This place was such a surprise...and we even were told ahead of time that it was amazing! It's that good. My husband and I giggled our way through dinner over the awesome food and setting. I can't wait to go back. Our waiter was a little dry, but some people just don't have great social skills. They're good at other things. We ate an appetizer, three modern sushi rolls, dessert, and had two drinks all for $60. So for the quality and atmosphere, I'd say it's a steal! Try the punk rock roll... very much worth the heat! Pros: top-notch food, great atmosphere Cons: less than impressive social skills from waiter more

Excellent for both lunch and dinner 7/29/2006

Mura is an excellent restaurant for a special romantic dinner, saki or cocktails and appetizers at the bar, or a superb lunch. I am delighted to have this excellent restaurant in the area. The sashimi is superb and the sushi rolls are delicious and creative. The environment is beautiful and elegant. I'm from CA where I was a regular at Matsuhisa. I was certain I would never find great sushi and sashimi in NC. I am so happy to have found Mura! Pros: Sushi, Sashimi, Sake Cons: Parking is sometimes tough more

Not so sure about sushi? Leave this place LOVING it 7/21/2006

Mura is absolutely the best place in the triangle for a romantic evening with out of this world sushi. My wife Lisa and I have been several times and it is worth mentioning that prior to our first visit Lisa didn't like sushi. She is now the reason why we frequent this restaurant monthly. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and incredible sashimi grade fish. Be sure to make reservations! Pros: Prompt service, excellent sushi, great ambiance Cons: Hostesses could be more welcoming more

Not So Great the 2nd Time Around 6/12/2006

The first time I ate here, I couldn't get enough. The next time, however, was a serious letdown. The sushi tasted old and cheap. The sauces started running together on our sushi boat, making it hard to decipher between bites. Although the atmosphere and ambiance are great, the price of the food leaves more to be desired. Swanky North Hills will still draw a crowd to Mura, but I'd suggest looking elsewhere for outstanding sushi. more

You've gotta go 4/15/2006

Whether you like Japanese food or not, it is the absolute BEST place I have been in the six years I have lived in NC! The service was excellent, Food ..even better! they specialize in Japanese food but they have a steak that will put any steak house to shame. I cannot stress the excitement I felt walking into this place. I give it 2 thumbs up and 110% in every area. The owners didnt leave out any detail in this establishment I will be back THIS MONTH! It is second to none the best dining experience I have ever had in my life. Pros: Food, Service, Style Cons: There isnt one n Cary more

Great sushi and service 4/8/2006

We have had dinner at Mura 4 or 5 times now, and not once have we been disappointed. The service is helpful and attentive. The sushi is fresh, the special rolls are huge, and the entrees are wonderful. We have enjoyed the punk rock roll, hard rock roll, seafood combo, firecracker shrimp, and the desserts. And we love that the food is organic. One of our favorite restaurants, sushi or not. Pros: service more

Geat, Great, Great 4/6/2006

I was really suprised to read the unhappy reviews lately. I just had lunch at Mura and it was great! The service was right on, and the food was nicely prepared, of great quality and tasted yummy! I can't wait to take my husband back for a nice treat! Pros: atmosphere Cons: none more

Still the best sushi in Raleigh 4/5/2006

I've eaten at Mura more than any other restaurant this since they opened, and the food has always been stellar. They are truly a wonder for getting so much right within their first year, and will be around for a long time if they continue to do so. Congratulations to James, Jason and the Mura staff for their recent awards from citysearch. The atmosphere puts to shame any sushi restaurant in Raleigh, and the inventive sushi rolls have little competition in the Triangle. Keep up the good work guys. Pros: Great food and service Cons: Need Suntory Whiskey!!! more

Over rated 3/31/2006

After reading the reviews, we were looking forward to great sushi --the best since we moved here from the bay area. We had the chef's choice and we each ordered a different special roll (mine was the punk rock). The sushi was ok -- nothing great, the service poor, and the rice had a funny taste to it. What was great was the seaweed salad. All in all, we are still looking for good sushi and won't be coming back. Pros: decor, friendly Cons: average food, high prices more

Out of this world! 3/19/2006

We tried Mura on our way to the movies and it was the best thing we have done in a long time. The sushi here was easily some of the best I have ever eaten. The hard rock roll is fabulous, as is the spicy tuna crunch. Everything was expertly prepared and presented and even though they were supposedly short handed that night we were accomodated without a reservation and the service was knowledgeable, friendly and down right immpectable. I can't wait to go back and take advantage of thier great patio overlooking the fountain when it gets warmer. The menu is great and will please anyone, regardless if they like sushi or not. Pros: Atmosphere, Menu, Service Cons: None! more

Went for the steak, left loving sushi 3/6/2006

my husband loves to eat sushi. i do not. after visiting north hills and going to the mura website, i noticed that the menu offered more than sushi, so i told him i would go. I ordered the filet, it was cooked perfectly. my husband indulged in the sushi rolls, and left in pain from over eating. I was persuaded to try the sushi and i found that it melted in my mouth. I was very surprised. Mura became one of our favorite restaurants immediately! we will go back and visit this place regularly Pros: expanded menu, prompt service, beautiful decor Cons: none more

Atmosphere and Quality 3/5/2006

If you are looking for the best sushi and dining atmosphere in the triangle, THIS IS THE SPOT!!! From the flat screens that rotate pictures of the unique rolls, the north hills location and the extremely fresh fish, these guys have are at the top of the list. Pros: Atmosphere, Fresh Fish, Great Menu more

Best new Triangle Restaurant! 3/5/2006

If you have been eating sushi or japanese food in the triangle and haven't tried Mura out yet, then you are missing out! The first thing you noticed about Mura is the elegant decor and big city ambiance...We sat at the sushi bar and had their highly trained and friendly staff prepare the highest quality sushi I have ever had! When you taste the sushi from Mura you will realize that you will never go anywhere else! I thought that when we received the bill, all of the ambiance, decor and quality food would show up on our bill and I was surprised to find out that you will pay about the same price for sushi anywhere else! Pros: ambiance, Food Quality, Cordial Staff more

Great Japanese restaurant 3/3/2006

Great new restaurant. The food is fantastic, lovely place. The bar is fun and they have unique cocktails. Even lunch is great. I have had mostly sushi, but the avocado salad and the seaweed salad are really great. Everything is a great value. The quality of the fish is better than any other sushi bar in Raleigh. Nobody beats the sashimi at Fins, but no other traditional sushi bar comes close to Mura. The prices are great too for what you get. Try the punk rock roll. Pros: sushi, cocktails, environment more

Tops in the Triangle for Sushi & atmosphere 3/3/2006

I've dined at Mura twice since their doors opened last year. Mura offers wide variety of sushi rolls and very fresh fish! Also, the restaurant owner prepares all sauces organically. The ambience is modern/urban with a classy, elegant and upscale casual feel. What sets Mura apart is their dinner menu, which offers to more than just the avid sushi patron. Their menu has 3 steaks and several seafood entrees available. I must say, Mura is in a tie for 1st with Waraji as my favorite sushi restaurant in the triangle. I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality of service and cuisined offered at the restuarant. Pros: location, quality of fish, variety - sushi rolls more
