What a great place! Mike was a terrific host, telling us the history of the home and how they fixed it up. We stayed in the Garden Suite, which is at the backside of the house. Very nice accomodations! All the rooms looked great and Red Wing is such a great place to relax and enjoy. Good restaurants, bike trails, parks and golfing! Thanks Mike for a great time! more

We stayed at the Moondance for a nice getaway. The inn was beautiful and comfortable. The big whirl pool and huge bed were luxurious. Very relaxing. Just what we needed. more

My wife and I were skeptical about our first visit to a B&B but found it to be quite a pleasant experience. We felt right at home for our entire stay and the food was amazing! From the traditional Irish feast to the best breakfast ham/french toast I ever ate, it was simply wonderful. The architecture is incredible and it was great to see so much era-specific fixtures and furniture. All the rooms are themed and feature a hot tub and bathroom which was great. We'll certainly being staying here again next time we're in Red Wing. more

Mike and Chris run a wonderful B&B in a beautifully crafted 150 year old home. the wood work and ceilings are old world charming. Beds were comfortable, rooms were decorated according to the time period but in bright colors so fresh feel to them...not drab. The owners just purchased brand new big towels, and coffee mugs while we were there. Gardener was trimming plants. Lots of details, from antique serving dishes, owners own blend of coffee, to purple moon shaped soap.\r \r Iced coffee or wine with hor derves served at five on time each day. One of a kind scrumptious breakfasts were served on time each morning at nine. You can sip on coffee or tea if you arrive for breakfast a little early. \r \r I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of check in and check out. Housekeeper gave us a quick tour and a key. She was very friendly. I enjoyed visiting with the owners Mike and chris during our stay. We even enjoyed playing ball with your dog. Made us feel like home.\r I would come back again and recommend it to anyone thinking about a B&B experience. more

This was our second stay at Moondance, and we were just as thrilled this time as we were the first time three years ago. Chris and Mike are welcoming, attentive and very friendly hosts--they take great care to create a warm and relaxing atmosphere at Moondance--it really is a home away from home. The rooms are beautiful, nicely-appointed and very clean. The Inn is quiet, even when full (as it was last weekend when we were there). The breakfast is outstanding--they were gracious about accomodating our gluten-free dietary requirements, and created delicious options that left us more than satisfied and fortified to take on our days. The location is convenient to downtown Red Wing and Chris and Mike are very knowledgeable about events/attractions...we always take them up on their suggestions. We highly recommend Moondance and are already looking forward to our next stay. more

Our recent stay at the Moondance was nothing but charming. The owners bent over backwards to accommodate our group of 8 people; I don't know what was warmer-- the fresh oatmeal cookies, or the hospitaliity. Each of the rooms was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The coffee is fantastic, as was the service. Will see you next year! more

I was traveling with a group of motorcycle friends. This was our first stay at an actual B&B. We were all apprehesive of the unknown. (loud, no privacy, bothering other guests, stuffy owners, etc) Nothing could have been further from the truth. From the moment we pulled in the driveway the owner walked out in the rain to greet us. Normally they don't want you tracking through the house in shoes and I certainly understand why, but he allowed us in to get out of the rain and said not to worry about it. We knew right away we had made an excellent choice.\r \r Hot chocolate and fresh homemade cookies were waiting on us! Perfect after riding in the rain from IA and the fall chill. Gave us a brief history lesson on the Moondance and then showed us all to our rooms. Very well decorated and homey. All had private big baths. I will say, as a man, I do like a shower. If I had to pick anything and I am really searching to even say this, a shower would be nice vs just the big jacuzzi tub. Then again, I doubt they get many bachelors staying. All the others were couples and enjoyed the big jacuzzi tubs. There is a shower downstairs now that I think about it. I forgot.\r \r We all sat out on the front porch having an afternoon cocktail and was joined by the owners. It was like conversing with old friends. What a great night of friendship. It was so enjoyable, we completely missed dinner. The owner suggest a local pizza delivery. We ordered several pizzas and to our surprise the owner had went inside and set the tables for us to go inside and eat. A very nice gesture. \r \r After an excellent nights sleep went downstairs early to grab a cup of coffee and check emails and work on our blog. Was in the big living room, enjoying coffee, the quite, it just doesn't get any better! Breakfast was served right on time and was perfect! \r \r We finally got packed up after lingering as long as we could. We even told the owners we hated to go. The next B&B will have some big shoes to fill! This place is perfect for couples and groups. We rented the whole place except for one bedroom and we met those folks at breakfast. We all laughed like having breakfast with a large family. Will definately stay there again if in the area. I hate it's so far from NC! more

This stay at the Moondance Inn was our second one, celebrating our anniversary both times. We were greeted by Mikes warm and welcoming smile. Mike and Chris seem to have an innate ability to make guests feel welcome at their B&B. Built in 1874 the structures charm has been preserved with the dark walnut woodwork, high ceilings and furniture from the era. The semi circular staircase, gave this B&B a romantic feel. All the rooms, which are on the second floor, have whirlpool tubs for 2, toilet and sink. Downstairs has the sitting area, dining room and bathroom with a large shower that has 2 shower heads. The third floor has a large sitting area with a TV for those who cannot live without one. Every afternoon there is a snack of some sort, whether it be fresh baked cookies during the week or appetizers on the weekend, its a great afternoon treat. Breakfast is a feast of fresh fruit, baked goods, and the main course all freshly made that morning. Special diets are accommodated. One has many beverage choices including their own coffee blend. There is also dessert at breakfast on the weekends. This is a gracious and warm place that transports you back in time, making it a delightful get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We go to B&B's for the ambiance, warm, relaxed, home like feeling, and friendly conversation. We love the fact that there is no phone or TV in the rooms, that would take away from the experience. Our thought is if you want want to waste your time watching TV, or need to placated with little bottles of toiletries that you never use to be happy you should go to a hotel or stay home. B&B's are not for you. more

6/23/06 Tranquil & beautiful. 6/24/2006

The host/hostess are very friendly but never hovering. Their Puli dogs love to show off how cute they are. The rooms are romantic - a reviewer listed no tv as a con. If you're staying in a place like this, you shouldn't be in the mood for tv! And there is one available in the library. Very tasty breakfast using locally grown, organic foods - wonderful flavors . Close to downtown Red Wing. Lots to do in town, shopping, biking, hiking, boating, music, plays. Great restaurant, Norton's, nearby. Only a very minor negative: Early in the morning, a very loud (inebriated?) guest couple was taking a long time trying to get to their room and the noise woke us up. My very shy husband did not like the community breakfast table - eating with strangers. But, I being a social butterfly, loved it! Pros: Relaxing, Breakfast, 1st class quality Cons: For shy people, the community dining table. more

Peace and Quiet 6/8/2006

We spent the night there just to get away from it all. The house is amazing and the food is even better. If you are looking for a calm, serene place to just relax this is the place to go! Pros: Food, Bubble Bath, Nice House Cons: No TV, Hard Bed more

Beautiful, peaceful & quiet 2/1/2006

We walked in & I was in awe. The place was beautiful! Service was very friendly, courteous & very personal. Breakfast was yummy. Money well spent for nice quiet. We'd go back FOR SURE! Not recommended to bring kids! It's too quiet & they'd be bored out of their minds. Pros: romantic, great service, great views Cons: not much to do more
