I have never been to a restaurant that lives off its laurels like this place does. The last two times I've been there it was horrible. The first time e placed our order and never saw our waitress again--I had to ask the reservations desk for the bill. The food was barely warm. This last time I had a cold baked potato with my meal---by the time I got it back everyone at out table was finished eating. more

Management and employees. I complained to management about the complaints listed in this paragrah. He told me I was rude nasty person. And I have a reputation of being a pest.I demanded a refund after I paid for a meal and his response. I got a refund for the meal. And not want to come back. Below what I told him. Employees are continually rude to female customers. Not volunteer to wait on customers,give menu,food,bill,drinking glasses,silverware,napkin,not want to write down menu(did it anyway). Talk back rude,try to start fights,interrupt,talk back rude,rush to get rid of. Gave bill,food,drink and try to run away. Gave bill and not come back. Employees walk away from females while talking to them. Employees have to ask them to come back and do job. Give orders know wrong,not volunteer to correct it. Shocking level of service twice this year! At both the Boathouse and original locaitons, servers were rude and condescending. During two occasions, items were forgotten, tables were not checked on, but both waitresses were so pleasant when they brought over the check at the end of the meal! Both dining experiences were reported to management, but overall I don't think they are too concerned. The food is good, but not GREAT. Way too expensive and too long of a wait to put up with sub-standard service! The arrogance of this place amazes me. They would never get away with this if the restaurants were located in a bigger city! Don't even bother unless you are eager for some real frustration or if you like to pay a lot of $$$ for poor treatment! I live in Cincinnati and I won't be back! I was at the Montgomery Inn and everything we ordered made our taste buds dance with exceitment. Our server met every need and was very informative about the menu. We come into Cincy about 8 times a year and now will always make a point to have dinner there. Also we were able to pick up some info about their banquet rooms. BEAUTIFUL. Pros: SERVICE, FOOD more

The traditional BBQ aficionado may find the ribs at Montgomery Inn a little different that either the Kansas City or Memphis style. Their ribs have a sweet sauce, spicy but not fiery hot. So, if you like the hotter BBQ, you may not be so excited about Montgomery Inn. With that out of the way, I have to say that their ribs are a phenomenal eating experience. Crispy on the outside, fall off the bone tender on the inside, dripping with their special sweet sauce; I have these at least twice a year (wish I could have them more often). My only ding for them is that they no longer serve the nice warm dinner rolls with their salads - where did those go? \r \r The setting at the original MI on Montgomery or at the Boathouse is perfect for a family or small gathering. Service is friendly and supportive without being formal or oppressive. \r \r I understand they are opening a new restaurant in Dublin near Columbus, it's good to see them expanding their business. \r \r Highly recommended. Growing up in Kansas City, I gained experience with a wide variety of Bar-B-Q. The first time I ate here, the waiter said, ""This won't be like anything you've ever had in KC."" He was right about that. I tried ribs and shrimp on the first experience, and the ribs had the worst flavor of any ribs I have ever eaten. The shrimp was deep fried and obviously freezer burned and overcooked. The second time I ate there, chicken was served. Again the flavor proved awful and was only saved by an overabundance of sauce to drown the taste of the meal. If only the other half who was raised in Cincinnati would recognize how awful this experience is, I would be saved. Now when she insists on going, I try to arrange her to eat with a misguided friend or relative. The restaurant also requires valet parking, for Bar-B-Q! Ridiculous. Remember, Bar-B-Q is NOT a delicacy and not expensive to prepare, so how does the Montgomery Inn fool many people into believing it provides an elegant experience? An average meal here, without alcoholic beverages or appetizers will cost approximately $35 a person (plus valet and tip), in KC it would be approximately $11 a person for a much better meal, you do the math. Montgomery Inn's ribs are the best I have eaten anywhere, hands down. They are definitely really saucy, but the sauce is fantastic so I can't complain. I've moved out of the area to Texas, and I really, really miss this place and haven't yet found a place in Houston that even compares. more

Try any of these restaurants on a week night, service as well as food are excellent. If you are not in the mood for ribs, give the chops or steaks a try. I always order my steaks with their special seaoning. I'll take the rib-eye any day. Reading other reviews, I have to wonder what restaurant you really went to. I have never had a problem, eat there or carry out at least once a week.\r We eat out several times a week and I think the prices are comparable to most of the chains in the area. My family and friends have enjoyed going to Montgomery Inn for years. I was so disappointed this past Valentines Day with the up-charge on my cocktail. Mind you the charge was only a dollar but it is the principle of the matter. You are asked up or on the rocks. I was charged an additional dollar for my cocktail because is was on the rocks. The profit is at least 900% on a drink--why charge more? This is the only restaurant that charges more for ice. The manager said they pour 1/2 oz more. I don't think so--my drink was weak. He also said my waitress or bartender should have informed me at the time. This is sneaky and one more way to make a profit off most consumers who don't bother to look at their bill or for those who won't bother to ask. I hesitated at first but felt it is wrong(a hidden charge) what they are charging for a cocktail. I love your ribs and will continue to come but a cocktail I will pass on. more

I can honestly say that I have never had a more disappointing restaurant experience. Be preparred to wait and wait and wait... if you want to try the food at The Montgomery Inn.\r \r My family and I were on vacation in Cincinnati and we were told that the food was very good at the Montgomery Inn. What we weren't told was the ""hoops"" that we would jump through to get a table in this restaurant.\r \r We called anhead and were told that the wait was 30 to 40 minutes and that they were not accepting call ahead seating. After arriving at the restaurant about 20 minutes later, we were told the wait would be 1 hour to 1hour and 15 minutes. After an hour and a half of waiting and watching several other patrons who had arrived after us get seated, I inquired about the delay. I was told it would be about another 15 to 30 minutes.\r \r After slamming my restaurant pager on their counter in disgust, my family and I left the restaurant without tasting their over priced fare.\r \r Be preparred to spend a lot not only for your meal...but also to get seated. more

Thought I would try something different for Friday happy hour with my brother who was in from out of town. I heard Montgomery Inn had a great happy hour so we met there. We got there @ 4:30 pm the bar wasn't real crowded so we got a seat @ the bar right away. Apps were 1/2 off and ALL drinks were $1.00 off . The service was great the Bartender was super and made us feel right at home. I will be going back again soon ! Pros: Great value, fantastic service more

All three Montgomery Inn restaurants continue to provide the best food, service and atmosphere for a night out to eat. The ribs are still my #1 favorite on the menu but try the porkchops, they're tender and juicy, as well as the steaks. You can't go wrong with the menu they provide. I'd suggest calling for a reservation, it cant hurt, especially on the weekends. Might I add that the Montgomery Inn looks great after their new renovation project. There isn't a bad seat in the house! \r \r Service has always been great and very helpful. Away from the food standpoint, what separates the Inn from other places is that it caters to all types of groups and ages.....everyone should get a chance to enjoy the World's Greatest Ribs!!! more

After several years and a few locations here and there, the Montgomery Inn is still the BEST!!!! The Original is my favorite, most of all for the familiar and friendly wait staff. Every time we go we can expect the ""World's Greatest Ribs"" and the ""World's Greatest Service"". We will continue to visit and will always recommend this ""Cincinnati Tradition"". This restaurant was listed as one of the signature places in Cincinnati, so our expectations were high and disappointment even higher!!! \r We went there for lunch on Monday, expecting less people and prompt service. Indeed, we were seated immediately, but then we had to wait for the waitress for a LONG time and throughout the whole stay she showed up really seldom, didn't mention our signs and fulfilled requests (for extra napkins, for example) only after we repeated them several times! In general the waitress was unkind and even arrogant. The fact that she was not young, made us feel sorry for her, but also sorry for us as customers.\r The food was OK, nothing fascinating though, the ribs were soft, but a bit too saucy to my taste. You will not find better ribs north of the Ohio River. I won't claim these are the world's best ribs, though. What you will get at Montgomery in are very most and delicious pork ribs, rubbed in fantastic seasonings and then covered in Montgomery Inn's signature BBQ sauce (sweet, not tangy).\r \r Service is so/so, I'll agree. I never feel pampered, but I also never feel put off. I will say my drink is never empty. \r \r The wait can be insane so make reservations.\r \r Montgomery Inn is a great Cincinnati experience. It has a lot of history and is generally a source of pride for the city. If you're in town, don't hesitate to stop by. You'll enjoy it! more

We drove to Cinci from Columbus specifically to go to the Montgomery Inn (it was recommended to us). Sorry, but I have to agree with the previous reviewers when I say I was disappointed with the very mediocre food. Personally, I liked the BBQ sauce (I bought some from the giftshop) but the meat was sloppy, greasy and just generally not good. My baked potato side was as hard as a rock. We had a short wait for the place to open, so we seated immediately, and our server was very sweet and friendly. I wouldn't go back though - there are places much better much closer to home. hate to say it but Mont. Inn has gone down hill. The ribs taste precooked and then kept in a warmer or something and are becoming dry, sauce is still good. Without a doubt, Montgomery's is one of the best Rib Places in the country, but it's over rated and over priced. There are a lot of other excellent Ribs places that are of better value. Pros: Service, Clean Cons: , Crowded more

I have eaten at all three Montgomery Inns and I always enjoy the food. Service is exemplary. I usually go early in the evening to avoid the lines. Try the ribeye seasoned, it is awesome! more
