Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome and comfortable during Grahm's first week at school. Though the transition has been a little tough ( mostly on our hearst :( ) we feel so good about choosing MRS as Grahm's home away from home. We survived!!! :) more

very happy 9/7/2010

I do not agree with the negative reviews posted in this forum. I think some of the comments are unfair and unjustified. I have trusted my child with this daycare/school since my child was 17 months old. She is now 5 years old and will be ready for public school. We were referred to this school by a family friend who enrolled their child there as well and was very happy with the services offered. We would not have selected this school had we not felt that the staff was involved in the daily care and tutoring of our child to the level that we expected. The low teacher to child ratio is what caught our attention. I did not want my child to be a nameless face in a roomful of kids. My daughter tells me all the time how much she enjoys her classmates and loves to tell me about her daily activities. I feel that she has grown over the years to be a well mannered, happy and well adjusted child. She is eager to learn and I attribute that to the patient efforts of her tutors. My child has a less-than-desirable attention span but the school has found creative ways to engage her. You get out of the experience what you put into it. Montessori Rainbow has a terrific summer schedule packed with all kinds of fun field trips for the kids. They engage in fun events like an annual Christmas party for the parents and children, complete with Santa. The Director is not cold, she is practical. She has always been very receptive whenever we needed to talk about anything regarding our child, and has at times put into practice our suggestions or comments. In short, would I do this all over again if I had the chance? Absolutely. more

very thankful for the solid social, emotional and educationa 9/3/2010

The core of the Montessori philosophy is that a child learns best in an environment that nurtures his/her unique development. This is what makes Montessori Rainbow so special. The Director, Donna Hutto and the caring teachers create a wonderful creative and fun learning environment that introduces art, music, math, science, and language while promoting self-directed learning in a collaborative group setting. We have been at Montessori Rainbow for 5 years and are very thankful for the solid social, emotional and educational foundation our children have received more

Periodic parties help make it fun. 9/2/2010

Teacher and director Donna Hutto really takes the time to learn her students' and their families' needs. The new facility has great outdoor activities for the kids, along with additional instruction in Spanish and computers. Our son is receiving great care and some special attention for his needs. I never worry about him when he's at ""The Rainbow School."" Periodic parties help make it fun. more

great teacher 7/15/2010

Thank you for being such an important part of Quinn's life over the last three years. You and your staff and school have taught Quinn more than just words, you have taught him to learn and enjoy learning you have also taught him to be a good young man and have respect for others. While I know this is not "" The End"", I know that Quinn will miss you, the other teachers, and the friends he has made thank you for being a great teacher of both knowledge and life. Sincerely, Justin B more

Terrible Place to Work, Terrible Place for Children 1/5/2009

I worked at the Montessori Rainbow School and for Mrs. Donna Hutto for a number of years and have worked in just about every classroom in this school. Pros: very low student-to-teacher ratios, good Montessori materials Cons: very old building, not maintained, under qualified staff, cold staff, etc, etc more

Less than Adequate 12/15/2008

Both of my children attended this school for about a year and a half. At first things were wonderful! Things were great! Slowly over the course of time, everything started to go downhill. As I brought my concerns (and there were multiple concerns) to the director's attention, I continuely felt as though she either thought I was lying or she just didn't care. There was never anything done to correct any of the issues. My children became very unhappy, so I knew it wasn't just me. There were certain members of the staff who also disregarded my concerns, and were extremely rude to me. I don't understand how people like that, especially the director, can work with children. Not to mention that the ""montessori"" part of the school is nothing but a joke. Pros: Hours of operation Cons: Incompetent directory and staff members more

Less than optimal 3/5/2008

I have had my child in this school for over a year. Initially, I felt good about putting my child in a small school with hopes that he would get more individual attention and that the environment would be more personal. I do feel my child has grown and learned a lot over the past year, but more due to his own initiative rather than the school or the teachers. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't choose this school. Overall, the staff is cold and unfriendly (with one exception - the head infant teacher is wonderful). The director is generally defensive and fosters an environment which is almost antagonistic with the parents - any questions about school processes or your individual child seem to be regarded with an undercurrent of hostility. Communication has definitely been lacking - despite the fact that we indicated that we wanted routine updates about our child's progress, getting information is like pulling teeth. The physical facilities are also sorely lacking. more
