Incometent & Money hungry 11/1/2014

Do not take your pet here unless it is absolutely necessary (after hours and your vetrinary clinic is not opened). My personal experience was aweful. Allot of money up front for incompetence. We ended up taking our pet to our Vet for the proper diagnoses and care. more

Incompetent, money hungry and awefull!!! 11/1/2014

RUN!!!!!! From this place. If your pet is on the verge of death and you have no other alternative, by all means take your pet here until your pet has been stabalized... and then immediately go to a reputable Vetrinary clinic. This place's priority is to take your money!! Not help your pet. They do have allot of staff on board (thus the outragoius charges to cover overhead and staff). My small dog was attacked by a coyotee and was in diar need of care. They were able to medicate her and clean her wounds and that was about it. She sustained nerve damage and a dislocated hip which the staff failed to diagnose. They discharged our dog with a dislocated hip, nerve dameage and pain that wes not managed. We took her to our regular Vetrinary Dr. where she received the proper care that she needed. A law suit is forthcoming. more

Great Service close by. 12/9/2012

My eight month Rhodesian ridgeback developed severe diarrhea a couple of days earlier, and of developed dehydration at 2 am Sunday morn. I brought her in and she was seen in short order. We had to leave her overnight and while there she received antibiotics and IV fluids. She is now doing much better. After reading the reviews listed here, I thought maybe I went to a totally different place. I found the staff efficient, and caring. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my pets there again. They were a bit expensive, but for 24 hour emergency care in our neighborhood. John Vassallo M.D. more

Horrible service. 9/17/2012

I'm going to start by saying I've been disappointed in T&C for a while now, but until recently my pet has been fairly healthy, so I never bothered to find a new vet. I have been treated rudely, talked down to, and left in waiting rooms for 45+ minutes because they simply forgot I was in there. Once, my dog was even given the wrong vaccination. However, in the past week, my dog has come down with an emergency issue, and was taken to T&C twice within a week by my father. (I was out of town.) Dr. Perkins evaluated my dog and twice dismissed him with a clean bill of health (that cost almost $200) and told my father my dog was just "depressed." My dog was not depressed, he was in pain, and my untrained eye could tell within a minute of seeing my dog upon my return. I took my dog back up there, for the third time in a week, and saw a different doctor, agreed immediately he was and pain, and with an xray was finally able to diagnose my dog, but was very rude and short with me, talked very fast, and did not answer any of my questions. She prescribed some pain medication for my dog, but did not inform me he needed to eat before taking the medication, so when I woke up to a very panicked dog at 1am, I had to go back to the vet, where she just pumped him full of xanax, charged me another $30, and sent me home. (Still not informing me my dog should eat before his meds. I found this out with a 2am google search.) Needless to say, I plan to never use this vet again, mostly because I am tired of being charged so much money to be treated so badly. more

I love Towne and Country Animal Hospital YET wouldn't ever let any of my pets see Dr. Perkins 6/9/2012

I've seen Dr. Perkins twice now. The first time i had an experience with him i realized i didn't want him to see see my pets ever again so i made a point to ask for a vet other then him. Unfortunetly i had to reschedule my vet appointment and it completely slipped my mind to make sure he wasn't going to be the vet on staff that weekend and i ended up seeing him again. First i love the vet techs there they are great and they always cut my dogs nails but this time when i took my two dogs in to get updated on their shots he for some reason decided it would be a good idea to look at my dogs and give them their shots behind closed doors where i couldn't see what he was doing. This is kind of an issue because as a pet owner you should now where the injection site for vaccinations are due to the fact that there can be allergic reactions and sometimes aggressive cancers can grow. So anyways he gives my dogs these shots behind closed doors and doesn't even show me where the injection site is and just rambles off all the other things he looked at on my dog (very unprofessional). I am almost to the point where i want to switch vets because i never want my dogs to be exposed to him again. more

Not sure I agree with their decisions 11/29/2010

Good: The front desk girls were great.. Bad: My dog needed induced vomiting and I was told based on labs they might admit him for 48-hour monitoring. They induced vomiting, but the vet recommended 48-hour admission/monitoring BEFORE labs were drawn. As an option if I couldn't afford the $600 to 899, I agreed to labs and subQ fluids. I would determine whether he stay based on labs. They were NORMAL. Why not do labs first and THEN make recommendations. I saved myself a lot of money doing the latter.. more

Wonderful staff 10/8/2010

I can't say enough good things about town and country. I went there on a recommendation from a friend when my do had a cancerous tumor. I had been to several other vets and did not feel comfortable with their services or their staff. But as soon as I went to town and country everyone made me feel comfortable and welcome. In the end my dog had a great outcome and her surgery actually ended up being less expensive than other estimates I had gotten. I wouldn't take my dog any where else and I tell anyone I know who has pets to take them there. Thank you all so much! more

Bob and Norma Johnston 3/24/2010

They are wonderful. I drive from Farmington Hills for both my dogs. They have regular hours M-F until 10:00p.m. and all day on Saturday. They have five vets and they are open 24/7. After hours & emergency visits are only $ 10.00 more than their norma fee. My Max is much more relaxed there than his previous vet. We found them when Max had a bladder infection on a Sunday. My vet wasn't open and another vet wanted $ 300.00 just to see him. I will never switch. They are not expensive at all. more

Don't go here, go to Dr. Berger in Howell instead 6/19/2008

I was disappointed with this practice, which I used as an emergency when my vet could not be reached that very moment. It was a very long wait. Hours after my visit with this vet, I returned home and had a call from my regular vet that same night. The advice from my regular vet was exact, (puppy swallowed a deflated balloon) and with no hesitation recommended waiting for it to naturally pass (which it did the next day). This was a huge relief to me, after spending that day feeling guilty and unsure, because the vet at Towne and Country sat on the fence in decision, never leaving me knowing if it was the right thing to wait it out, or put $300 into an operation there. Thank goodness for straightforward veterinarians, like my vet, Dr. Berger in Howell, who did not hesitate to call me after hours, at no charge with her expert advice. I'll never go anywhere else but S.A. Berger Animal Clinic! Sharon Dufour, Brighton Michigan more

Horrible Vet Service 11/20/2006

I went here and it is THE MOST Expensive place to take your pet. This does not mean it is the best place though. I believe you are paying for the beautiful fish tanks. I have had two horrible experiences costing me well over $3000, beware and hold on to your wallet! more
