Mixto is a Latin American fusion type restaurant, where you can find things on the menu from many countries in Central and South America. I know not to expect the spice and zing from this type of cuisine that Americans typically associate with Mexican food, but I really expected more flavor in general (not spice, but flavor in general). Their ropa vieja (slow-cooked beef) is absolutely the exception, and I think it's just divine. It's so rich and smooth in taste and texture that everything else on the plate with it just compete. When I find something this good and this memorable on a menu, I sort of expect that more of their food is going to be so enticing, but I've not found this to be the case. I enjoy their mojitos, and their smoothies, though.
The staff is friendly, but it takes absolutely forever to get waited on and served, and if you want another drink or a refill, good luck. That on top of the price makes Mixto a restaurant that I recommend with some reservations.
