Mitchells Day Spa

My husband bought me a great spa package unfortunately they spa closed ( within a couple of months) before I got to redeem my certificate. I watched the web site for months because they posted that they would make good on the outstanding certificates. You can guess it they did NOT! And the web site disappeared! I just wanted to post here because I got excited when I thought the spa had opened back up and of course they did not. I didn't want any other certificate holders to get false hope as I did.\r \r Very disappointed in the owners of the Spa's character or lack of! Pros: NONE! Cons: THEY NO LONGER EXSIST! AND GAVE NO CONTACT FIR CERTIFICATE HOLDERS TO REDEEM. AFTER THEY NOTED THEY WOULD! more

I was not real pleased with the surrounings when I arrived, but I figured, ""Don't judge a book by its cover."" It is a rather old and poorly decorated space, but that doesn't mean that the experience wouldn't be good. Well, it was the worst massage I have ever had in my entire life. I am new to the Birmingham area and trying to find a theripist. I have been having 2 to 3 massages a month for the last 10 years. \r I am not sure what the therapists problem was. The only thing that I am sure of is that she should not be touching anyone, let alone to massage ever again. She went up and down my spine about 30 to 40 times and then up and down each leg the same way about 10 times. Then she said, ""I'm done, but you can lay here and relax."" She did not turn me ovr, she did not touch my neck and she only new one move (which was excessive use of really slipper oil up and down up and down up and down.) I will never go back and I recommend that you don't waste your money. more

I visited Mitchell's Day Spa and got 30 minutes in the sauna, an hour massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure. All of the services were done in seperate rooms, so I was not around other spa goers. I never had to wait between services (which were all wonderful) but nothing was rushed. It felt very personal and truly allowed me to escape for a few hours. Relaxing music was in each room which really helped me stay in that relaxed mode. All of the therapists and technicians were extremely friendly and helpful and made me feel at home. They were all very down to earth which is sometimes rare in spa settings. I highly recommend Mitchell's Day Spa for the fantastic service and relaxing atmosphere. The sauna at Mitchell's was very hot. Got a good sweat going. There was a shower in the room to use after the sauna. However, the message I received was the worst I've ever received. The masseuse only hit my back, calves, feet, and back of my arms. I had to ask her to hit my thighs. She didn't even flip me and massage any areas of the front of my body. I spent the whole hour on my stomach with my face in the mat. By the time the massage was over, my face was numb. The masseuse acted like she was afraid to touch me. I don't recommend Mitchell's.
