I've been eating at the Mission for several years now because it serves some of the better, if not the best Mexican food in Eugene, relatively speaking. On a scale of 1 to 10, with one being Taco Bell, and ten being the best Mexican food I've eaten, I rate the Mission around a 7 or 8. One of the best things on the menu is the shredded beef taco. It comes wrapped in what appears to be a handmade shell instead of the typical mass produced Taco Bell cardboard tasting type of shell. The beef is delicious and full of flavor. It comes loaded with lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese. A complete plate include really tasty refried beans covered with melted cheese, and rice. The quality of the rice varies from really good to bland. The Chile Verde dishes are also very good. They have a pretty good kick, although I wouldn't call them hot. All orders come with chips with very good tasting salsa (not hot enough for me), and a tasty cheese sauce that I think is supposed to be Chile Con Queso. They also serve machaca pork with an egg that is fantastic in a burrito. Beer, wine, and the usual soft drinks are available. Service is friendly, if a little slow. The Mission is in a smallish sort of Mexican looking adobe building near campus. The interior is dark and cozy, and has always been clean and well scrubbed. Prices are fair. Parking it very limited.
