Mimi's Cafe 2/3/2007

My daughter and I went to this restaurant today. We had gone shopping and then she said she'd like to "eat out" and I said why not go somewhere that we haven't been before. Mimi's was our choice. We were greeted immediately by a smiling young lady. She took our name and said it would only be 5 minutes or less. It was about 3 minutes and we'd asked for a table instead of a booth. We were seated and immediately, our server, Becca, a very sweet young lady was there to take our drink order and told us the specials for the day. When she brought those to us we were ready to order. My daughter ordered Fish & Chips and I have been wanting a Chicken Pot Pie for like forever. She took our order and then she brought us a basket of bread. There was the usual rather crusty white roll and 2 slices of this "to die for" carrot-raisin bread. I asked if they sold them by the loaf and she said they sure do. They are the mini loaves, a little pricey but worth it to me. She brought back 2 more slices of the carrot-rasin bread when she brought our food out. It was there within 15 minutes or less. My daughter's Fish and the French Fries were really good .. but too much for one person to eat. We both prefer a little more tangy or vinegary taste to our cole slaw but it was good. The fries were great but since we've not been eating grease nor carbs .. they actually were too much for us. The Chicken Pot Pie was quite good as well. It was served in a nice heavy crock type bowl with a GREAT flakey crust. It was full of chicken chunks, peas, carrots, celery and the creamy sauce/gravy. It was also way too much for one person. We ended up taking the Fish & Chips home with us but not the Chicken Pot Pie. The carrot bread had filled me up and I just could not eat any more. The atmosphere was very nice, it was clean and we will go there again. If you have never been there, you ought to give it a try. The menu had a ton of choices .. a little higher priced than some restaurants, but not outrageous. more

Mimi's Cafe!!!! Breakfast to die for!!! 3/23/2006

WE have ate breakfast at both Mimi's Cafes on the North part of the Springs. There is 1 on North Academy and 1 on North Powers. Such wonderful food!! I had a Crab avacado omelet last time--it melts in your mouth. My husband has french toast that is stuffed with cream cheese and has 3 fruits over it-1 fruit has a glaze.. Muffins are to die for. And if its your first time and you tell them this-you get a take home sampler of their LARGE muffins! Such a nice surprise. Most breakfast comes with fresh squeezed juices . The coffee is strong and wonderful! Service was clean and fast and very friendly waitress and waitors... Great place for family gathering with lots of room for kiddos--or just the 2 of you in a snuggly Tuscany booth! Cant wait to try it for lunch and dinner... A MUST HAVE!!! Addicting for sure... more
