Debra has been cutting my hair for about 5 years. She is fantastic at what she does, she loves it and it shows! She pays great attention to detail and will make sure you are happy with your cut and color. She takes many classes and goes to tradeshows to stay current on the latest styles. I highly recommend her to anyone who really cares about their hair! Pros: Listens well and spends lots of time with you! Cons: I have to drive 1.5 hours from Roseville but it's worth it! more

I'm reviewing a stylist who is relocating to Mika Salon. Debra Collins might be the most creative, talented stylist I've ever met whether she's working with long or short styles. Best of all, she just loves to cut hair. She's really great about asking you lots of questions to ensure you get exactly what you want, but can also suggest ideas for what works with your hair. If you're in or near Walnut Creek, CA and want to try someone new, meet Debra and have a blast! Debra had been doing my long hair for a while and I loved her work, but I awoke the other day and decided to cut it all off. Debra was all ""let's do it!"". I am so crazy about my new look and it is so easy! Sadly, I now have to drive from Folsom to Walnut Creek for my next hair cut - UGH! more

""i tried mika salon because even tho i LOVE my regular stylist i have had it with driving to petaluma from san ramon to see him. i brought pictures and was extremely clear about what i wanted....namely to get rid of all traces of red in my hair from the last crappy stylist i saw in san ramon and also to add some layers to my a-line bob. i said repeatedly that i liked my length and that i didn't want to go shorter. well it's been 2 hours since i got home and i'm still breaking out in tears every time i pass a mirror. my hair looks EXACTLY like the haircut dorothy hamill is famous for and even tho i've restyled it twice since i came home, there's just no bringing that hair back and i have never felt so hideous in all my life. i feel like she didn't hear a word i said AND that her cutting skills are severly lacking. my guess is that the salon suggested her for me because she needs to build her clientele and not because she does a lot of short modern cuts w/an edgy sensibility like i asked for. when she was finished, i expressed my displeasure and she attempted to flat-iron the mushroom shape down and made various excuses blaming the brush, the products, and me for wanting to add layers. she offered to cut more layers or take the length up higher to ""add volume and shorten the length in front""---the two aspects i was already unhappy with! i called the salon, after the walk of shame to my car, and while they did offer to have someone else take a whack at it free of charge, i have to say i have no confidence in a salon that would employ a stylist with such outdated skills not to mention there's not much left to work with. more

I had this salon recommended to me by a friend. As a Christmas present, I went there and was charged nearly 200 dollars on a cut and color. I had never colored my hair before and was nervous. The stylist Darla hardly talked to me and put far too much color in (I'm a natural redhead and I walked out nearly Barbie-blond despite the fact I just asked for minor highlights). She offered to redo it, which was a plus, but I was so disappointed that I just wanted it all out. The cut was styled but not the way I had asked, even when I had provided a picture. Pros: Everyone besides my particular stylist was very nice. Cons: I wish I had a different stylist. more

Mika's is a great salon with good lighting and excellent services. Marcia Bledsoe at Mika's has been my stylist for years and even though I moved from the East Bay to the South Bay, I continue to depend on Marica. She is fabulous with both cut and color and keeps on top of the newest trends and tools. She listens to what I want and also offer suggestions and ideas for new styles, colors and tips that keep pace with my life. She's the best. Pros: Parking, shopping and food! Cons: None! more

I have been going to Mika Salon for several years and I have always received incredible service. The atmosphere is classy and professional. I continue to return to my stylist, Marica, because she consistently gives me an awesome haircut, along with beautiful, natural-looking haircolor and highlights. I always feel wonderful, when looking in the mirror, to see Marica's fantastic handiwork with scissors and color. Marica's knowledge and abilities regarding hair styling and hair coloring provide me with the confidence to know that she has made me look my best. Patty Purple is great. Patty cut my hair for ten years while she lived in South Lake Tahoe and I miss her big time. I have traveled to MIKA Salon in Walnut Creek for a haircut and was very pleased to see that Patty is now working in a salon worthy of her talent. Its a long way for me to go for a haircut but I think it may just be worth the trip. more

Mika is a comfortable place with excellent staff. I see both Marica and Judy who are both true professionals. They do excellent work and maintain underscored elegance with a sense of humor. It is a relaxing and friendly atmosphere and not the generally pulsating music trauma/drama of many popular salons and their personnel. And there are a lot of dog lovers there as well -- woof! more

I have had some of my best haircuts this last year with Veronica at Mika. As a woman with very thick, short hair, it's hard to find someone who can shape and thin it enough to give it style and movement. Veronica is great and comes up with new ideas to keep styling fresh and new. She charges $60 which is less than other places I've tried and a much better cut. She's now highlighting it and I feel like new every time. The staff is very friendly and always give reminder calls, which I really appreciate. Definitely recommend it! more

Was looking for a new stylist in Walnut Creek. Took a stab at Mika. For $70, I got excellent consultation, service, and an AWESOME cut! Invested well over an hour to define my layered locks and I'm super satisfied. Ask for Judy, she is experienced and very very professional. Overall great environment and friendly staff. Other places in WC greet you with, ""You have an appointment with...?"" while Mika greeted me with a friendly smile, even with a PACKED crowd. Try them! Pros: Great service, Professional more

i have wavy/curly hair and made an appt. to have it straightened. After he blew it out with a hair dryer it was all frizzy and poofy and he blamed it for my hair??!! I told him i ve been too soo many places where my hair comes out perftly and shiny and silky. Is a blwo out too much to ask for? These people obiviously have no skills. Dont waste your time here. more

Sometimes salons get too popular - they lose sight of good service - definitely the case with Mika. I'm new here and Mika was recommended. I scheduled an appointment for cut and color. Short story, the colorist slapped color on my hair and vanished for OVER AN HOUR - and I mean vanished. Finally after my head started seriously burning, one of the other colorists had to FIND my colorist. During the 1:10 minute wait with color applied, she never ONCE checked on my hair ...she just disappeared not to be found. She was too busy with all the other patrons I guess since she let me know Mika was now the ""hot"" salon in town...I guess it is hot if you mean chemicals burning your head. New to town?...I recommend finding another salon that isn't too popular to provide good service. more

My experience at mika salon was incredible. All of their staff were friendly & every style I saw looked great! And I absolutely love my new cut; the next time I go to mika I'm going to try out their new massage treatments too. This salon is a real gem in the East Bay I'm going to recommend it to all my friends! Pros: open 6 days & late, sklilled stylists, good energy more
