Miel Restaurant

Took a couple there to a wine paring with tasting of food. Turned out to be both disappointing and embarrassing. Very tiny portions and nothing exceptionable about the food. Way overpriced. We left hungry. Nashville has too many great choices for dining out. Meil is not one of them. more

We went to Miel last night to dine. It had some pluses and some minuses but we would go back and recommend to friends. We were seated promptly and our server was quickly over to us. She was personable however also professional which I like. SHe was knowledgeable about the dishes, the wines, and the beers.We started with the artisanal cheese plate. I think this would be better for a party of 4 rather then 2. It was almost too much cheese. Maybe there could be a 1/2 portion with a smaller price tag? My husband's pork dish was extremely tough and not a lot of flavor.it was also 16oz which is mammoth proportion. My osso bucco was excellent with the polenta and greens. We had to leave before finding out about desserts because of a movie we were trying to make. I like the use of local ingredients and the relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. I would encourage them to reconsider mammoth pieces of meat like the pork. Also, it seemed like there was a lot of staff that just kind of circled the room but didn't actually look to see if my water needed refilling, which at one point it did. Wonderful food, fresh gorgeous vegetables and herbs, good portions, wonderful sauces. The atmosphere was cold, but clean and modern. The staff was not as good as we expected, felt they need more experience with wine tastings. When the room started to get busy, service became non-personal. We will go back and try a different waiter and see if it's different. Was never approached by an owner which is not important to us if the waiter is adequate. I just tried this place for the first time last night and WOW! The owner greets you with opening the door and taking your coat. We had reservations and they knew exactly who we were when we walked in. The place is very intimate and relaxing. The food presentation was beautiful and tasted amazing. Everything is fresh and organic as well which had me sold! The service was exceptional. Just a great all around place to enjoy a wonderful meal. more
