What a treat!!! I have traveled the world, and this truly is a gem! The staff is attentive and friendly! The restaurant resembles European cuisine in every fashion! Much as in Italy, the experience is dining, not a meal. My fiance pleasantly surprised me by taking me here for my birthday. I am from Dallas, and have had the pleasure to dine at some of the finest restaurants there- in Addison, Highland Park, and Downtown. I must boast to say that Mesons has matched and in many ways exceeded them all! To begin, the bread rolls resemble a croissant in tenderness and are fresh. The vinaigrette on the salad is unlike any variation I've had. My fiance had a steak in peppercorn sauce. The sauce complemented the meat and brought out the taste, rather than overwhelm or cover it. What a treat it was! I myself had a crabmeat special in a lemony butter sauce that was simply amazing! Nothing could have prepared me for our dessert however- banana's flambe. The sauce was flawless- neither too sweet nor too tart. The icecream tasted homemade! It was not too heavy of a dessert to end our meal. To put it simply- it was the perfect end to an evening. There was no sacrifice in taste for our food. It was prepared flawlessly, exceeded my expectations, and was one of the finest experiences in my life. Our waiter took a photograph of us and gave it to me as a memento for our evening. I enjoyed our evening and will recommend this restaurant to anyone I know in San Antonio. In fact, I asked our waiter with much anticipation when they would open one in Dallas!
Pros: Taste in food, service, atmosphere
Cons: quick dine
