Merlot's Restaurant

If you decide to ""dine"" here, don't make it a celebration dinner rather a dinner mourning a lost dog or something. I'd be surprised if anyone has even hinted at the thought of opening a bottle of champagne here. Seriously, Piccata's, Marsala's, and cut rate owners???? The Piccatta and Marsala Sauce is extravagantly made with water and chicken base.... Just from a hint.... The owners treat there employees as if they were in Berlin quite some time ago. Please whatever you do, don't get angry with your server because they are under tremendous pressure.... I assure you. Dining should be a VACATION in your day, not a head ache, or stomach ache should I add. Suwanee needs a restaurant with integrity and a chef that really knows what there doing. The only sense of character I felt from the place was Syed(Primary, Productive, Caring Owner)... The other fellow- I'm not even going to type what I'd like to say. Needless to say but, I'll say it anyway- YOUR MENU IS OUT DATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get some Creative people in there and let them IMPROVE what little you have. Pros: They have working toilets. Cons: too many more

I thought that Merlot was a nice addition to the Suwanee area. It is an upscale restaurant with a great menu and ambiance for the burbs. I work in Johns Creek where their original location was. I took many clients there for dinner and was sorry to see them relocate. My good fortune....they relocated 2 miles from my residence! There aren't too many upscale white table cloth dining opportunities in Suwanee (none), so I took my better half a long for a celebratory dinner. The decor and setting was very romantic...wait staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and competent.....great menu (Bruschetta, Scallops and seasonal Pumkin Cheesecake desert were all delightful).....and the place has a seperate large upscale bar area with two flat panel TV's with football featured this partculiar evening. The bar area would be a great spot to have a cocktail on busy Friday and Saturday night while waiting for your table! The wine menu was fairly extensive and reasonably priced. Yipes! There is nothing to recommend about this place except a very personable waiter named BJ. It used to be located in Duluth on Medlock Bridge but recently moved north to Suwanee. I took my husband for a birthday dinner and apologized all evening. It's now located in a strip center. The decor is ... well, there is none. The cesar salad swam in dressing. The filet mignon was ... well, I don't know what it was, but certainly not a filet, being thin and tough to cut, let alone chew. With all the great dining in the northern suburbs, there is simply no reason to go to Merlot. Cons: Everything is a con more

I recently held a function at Merlot's and was extremely happy with both the food and service! It is always a challenge serving 45+ people at a time, but they did it in a superb manner. The owner is great and ensured our function was perfect. I highly recommend the steak; however, everyone was very happy with whatever they ordered. Great restaurant! more

They have a great new chef... we have been in a couple of times in the last month.I always get the fish special & my husband gets the steak... we have never been disappointed! The Calamari is one of the best! more
