DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL 4/11/2010

OMG! I cannot believe the horrible experience i just had at this hospital. My son has the life threatening illness Asthma and we were not treated with urgency when we arrived. As we sat and waited while he coughed and coughed struggling to breathe finally we made it to the back where he threw up as soon as we got there. None of the doctor's had a compassionate bed side manner at all. When asked what type of steroids they were giving my son and what type of medicine they were using in the nebulizer they brushed me off barely explaining anything. They talked down to me treating me like i was dumb until my mother came in. I am a young mother (22) of a 5 year old boy so maybe they thought i was clueless but he's had asthma all his life. The women were all catty and rude forgetting that all that matters is saving a child's life forget what you assume about me or your judgements. After leaving i noticed the paperwork said "" smoking cessation"" and a sheet of paper on how to quit smoking. No one in the house smokes so i was very upset with this especially if it goes into our file like we smoke knowing my child has asthma. I told her no when she asked me. Doctor Nipa, Sanghani V MD was very disappointing. I voiced to my mother the concerns i had for how the staff was behaving and i guess she overheard so instead of appologizing or trying her best to understand how nerve wrecking and down right frightening it is to have a child with this sickness that he could die from, she took the low road and decided to treat us like crap too. Terrible experience. Turns out Nipa wrote precriptions that could not be used as generic ,knowing we did not have insurance and the prices came up to $361! My son needed the albuterol tonight and steroid tomorrow so since he can't receive that and the hospital refused to give him a take home inhaler like the previous time we came, he will be in another emergency room tomorrow. He's having a hard time breathing now but he's trying to sleep. All i can do is moniter him and pray. This review is not to be vicious but to warn you. I am from Michigan were we treat people with love and respect no matter how bad some things are and this type of treatment at a children's hospital is unacceptable. Ive only been in TX for 7months but i would not reccomend it to anyone.... there are jobs other places too. Where people actually care about people and treat them like human beings. Don't put yourself through this! Pros: Doctors wrote precriptions Cons: Rude and heartless nurses, doctors, staff, long wait more
