Mecca Cafe

I used to live about 2 blocks from the Mecca in my free and single days. I just loved going there, for the food, for the bar, and all of my friends who went there and worked there. It's just about the tiniest place ever but it somehow works! Did you know that Rebecca Stevenson (the weather girl on NWCN and KING) was a waitress there? That's where I met her, when our boyfriends worked there. Ahhh the good old days.....drinking till all hours after the festivals and before concerts and shows....smoking till my lungs gave out (and that's when I was just breathing the air there)...good old times, staggering home with my friends and...oh the memories, or lack thereof. I'm glad it's still around, and one of these days, I will have to go back in for some good old times. more

Mecca Cafe is homey, relaxed, and most importantly delicious. They've got appetizing comfort and diner food, with especially good sandwich offerings. I hear inklings about a manly pursuit called the 'Deckhand' but have yet to try it. Despite occupying a fairly small space, they still pull off a really inviting and relaxing vibe. Plenty of entertaining clutter to read on the walls ("You are no friend of Dick Smith...because he has none") and a secluded portion for a bar on the left. Seems to consistently have an ecclectic, borderline bizarre, group of people...guaranteed fun for a Sunday morning. more
