undercooked fish is their specialty 7/2/2010

My catfish was completely raw and they did the classy move of asking if I wanted a new one or just wanted them to recook the old one. If you want tasteless, rubbery fish, I recommend going with the latter.\r \r What made the visit especially charming was that our server declined to let my party of four move to a vacant window seat in the bar with seating for five, but five minutes later a party of three was sitting there dining away.\r \r To finish off the meal, they offer a complete lack of any response from management to a letter detailing the poor experience.\r \r Many McCormick's restaurants are good. This is not one of them. If you want a $15 meal that you can count on to be edible, you're taking your chances with this location. Cons: bad service, bad food, no response from management more

poor service, barely adequate food 3/24/2007

We had reservations for a birthday party so the menus said ""Happy Birthday (Name)"" on them.\r Unfortunately after that, the service went down hill. The greeters/waiters took forever to seat us even though the place was empty. They took over 30 minutes to take our drink orders, and another 20 minutes to come back and try pressuring my friend into buying a high priced appetizer, which she finally did.\r Finally 15 minutes later (over an hour after we walked in) they took our meal orders. I asked for something that the other McCormick's and Schmidt's in town had on their menu, and they said it would be no problem and if they couldn't they would substitute with my 2nd choice. The appetizer comes out 40 minutes later and these are the wait times after my drinking glass emptied before it was refilled throughout the evening:\r 20 minutes\r 25 minutes\r 15 minutes\r 35 minutes\r and after we got our check the waitress refused to fill my glass again. Astounding. During these wait times the waitress and other servers would walk by and even look at the glass and just ignore it. I even saw them chatting together behind some tables and occasionally one would glance over at our table them resume their social banter. \r When the food arrived it was NOT what I ordered, but something similar but certainly something I had not asked for. When I mentioned this to the waitress she actually argued with me and told me that it was what I had ordered. Amazing. \r Our friend got a free desert for her birthday but the waitress wouldn't stop hounding the rest of us to buy one too. It took them 20 minutes to calculate our check after we asked, and they kept forgetting to apply our entertainment card and then once accidentally charged for our friend's birthday desert. Utter ineptitude. \r \r At the end of this awful ordeal I took the waitress aside as we were leaving and asked to speak to the manager. She told me that he, and all other supervisory staff were too busy to speak with me. Pros: the place was not on fire Cons: most everything else more

Great for lunch 11/21/2006

It's one of the best seafood joints in downtown seattle. Fresh daily menus, great service, knowledgeable and friendly staff, very inexpensive for what you get. Sounds like there's a great happy hour even though I've never tried it. If it's just cheaper version of their regular food, then it's probably one of the best happy hours in seattle. Don't eat too much entree because the dessert is really the best part. more

Unlikely date spot 9/4/2006

Welcoming atmosphere, great service, delicious food! With a menu that changes twice a day (updated with the fresh fish list at the top), you're guaranteed the freshest fish you can find in Seattle--at a reasonable price! Their cocktail list is amazing, and tells a story about where each drink was born. Get the ice cream for dessert. more

Best Happy Hour in Seattle 8/21/2006

Most people know McCormick's for their seafood within their restaurants. However, I believe the best experience at McCormick's is the Happy Hour. I frequent the establishment for the 10pm Happy Hour with the $1.95 menu when on business. Very tasty crab cakes, hamburger and oysters are always solid choices. The atmosphere is good with staff that have been on the job for a number of years. Folks from the near by ballpark seem to swing in after games to make the place lively. more

Best Seafood in Town 7/18/2002

Hands down the best seafood in town, even if it is an expanding chain. The list is large, diverse and fresh. It's hard to pick a favorite dish but I love the petrale sole. The service is always great and if you can, try to save room for the key lime pie! The Fish House and Oyster Bar is by far my favorite McCormick's location for it's ambience, wood booths and decor. Pros: Fresh, Diverse Cons: Bad Parking more

Fresh! 6/12/2002

Arrived in Seattle late one evening for a business trip. Walked down the street from my hotel and recognized McCormick's from another city. Great $1.95 menu after 10pm. Outstanding chowder and the burger is the best. My waiter Frank suggested coming back the next night before 8:30 for the oyster special. Arrived the following evening and enjoyed (18) 50 cent oysters and the Mariners game on the TV. Bartender is a good guy too. more
