BEST MARTIAL ARTS IN AUSTIN 7/28/2010

Traditional martial arts school that is based on the principals of true martial arts. This is not a school that tries to cycle students through to have them belt up and pay-up. Not at all! The best measure of a martial arts school is the number of black belts that have achieved this level AND how many are in class!! In the Tukong school, the average number of black belts is 6 in a class. This is absolutely amazing and you get ample help in learning the various techniques. Pros: traditional, focused, attention to detail, real world more

A lucky student 5/17/2004

While looking for a Martial Arts school I was looking for one that was not just about exercise and sweat. I was looking for a school which lay emphasis on disciplined training and building mind, body and spirit. I was extremely lucky to have found Master Yis Tukong MartialArts. On my first day I was greeted by ""Welcome to the Family"" and that attitude is pervasive in Tukong. The staff and all my seniors are extremly helpful and patient. This is my first opportunity to learn Martial Arts and I honestly have not analyzed a lot of schools. But after I started training I read several articles of advice from seasoned Martial artists. I now realize how incredibly lucky I am. We learn self defense, kicking, punching, weapons, rolling..... I also learn Ip-Sun (Korean Tai-Chi) that is taught at school. In short I am very lucky. Thank you Master Yi. Pros: Excellent Instructors, Class Schedule, Family atmosphere more

friendly yet intense 5/17/2004

this is the best martial arts class i've ever experienced. part of that is the awesome instruction--the staff is thorough, explanatory, and really great at the art as well as teaching. the other part that really speaks to me is the camaraderie amongst students, young and old, new and seasoned. i consider the students my extended family and the atmosphere of trust is unbeatable, the friendship lifelong. Pros: skilled instructors, family friendly, variety of techniques more

A True Martial Art in Austin 5/11/2004

Tukong Moosul officially began as the self defense system designed by Grandmaster Yi for the South Korean Special Forces. However, the style taught here is very traditional, similar to what Master Yi himself experienced as he grew up in the Temple in South Korea. If you are interested in Martial Arts simply to get fit or learn how to fight, there are many places to go for that. If you are interested in the True Martial Arts, this is the place to go. You will learn weapons, grappling, throwing, kicking, and hand techniques, as well as philosophy and more. It's great for children and adults. Master Yi teaches most of the classes here and learning from a true Grandmaster is a special opportunity. This is the best Martial Arts school I've ever been to. The training facility is probably nicest in Austin. Pros: Great Facility, Knowledgeable Staff, Good Price more
