Best

Reading some of the reviews, I wonder what they consider as great food? Comparing the food here to Denny's is, frankly, absurd. Marston's food is utterly superb.. great pancakes...

Worst

Be prepared to wait, not only for parking but for getting a seat. The food was just generic. OK...but not great. The place is SMALL and comfy, so don't be spilling out your gut...

Great Homey Feel 2/20/2004

pricey for breakfast, but very homey feel. very unigue breakfast, so be adventurous. i enjoyed the french toast rolled in corn flakes. the coffee is so-so for coffee snobs. careful, you may drive by it the first time. Pros: Unique Food, Service more

Nice Place...but overrated 7/11/2003

Be prepared to wait, not only for parking but for getting a seat. The food was just generic. OK...but not great. The place is SMALL and comfy, so don't be spilling out your guts about your personal life to your friends because I could hear EVERYTHING about this one woman's life who sat near me. People who arrived after us got served first. Our order was messed up. I had to ask to get a refill of iced tea (and it was blazing outside...) High priced for the amount and quality of the food. $11 for a salad....? $8 for a basic egg salad sandwich? You have to try this place at least once. Pros: Quaint, Homey, Friendly Cons: No Parking, Long Line, Overpriced more

worth the wait 6/30/2003

If time is on your side, the lunch at Marston's is great. Huge yummy salads, and a nice waitstaff......... a great ""girls lunch"" place. more

STOP- go to kathleens on Lake 2/6/2003

I was forced one morning to eat breakfast here. I decided to see if the food here really is as good as this site says. It was the worst served food ever. the waitress was so rude and unacommadating. all i can say is on Lake ave. KATHLEEN'S is the best for breakfast lunch or dinner. Highly recommended more

Cozy and fun 10/3/2002

This is a small and cozy place to get a great breakfast. Very high class people from Pasadena love this place. Come early because there is usually a line. more

How long did you say the wait was? 7/2/2002

I've been only a few times, mostly because I cherish sleeping in on Saturdays. And to go to Marston's means loosing sleep. You have to get there so early, if not you'll be waiting a while before you get seated. The food is good, large portions, sometimes too large. I wouldn't say it's the best in LA but it is pretty good. The crowd is the typical Pasadena crowd, a blend of the wealthy, and the not so wealthy. Either way I'd say try it at least once. Pros: food, atmosphere Cons: long wait more

If you have the time......... 6/27/2002

this place has the food. I don't come here often because the wait is so long and they don't take reservations. But the few times I've been here I have enjoyed everything I ordered. The breakfast is wonderful and lunch is good too. If you could reserve a table I would be here every week. Pros: Excellent Food Cons: Long Wait, Poor parking more

Meatloaf Sandwhich YUM! 6/9/2002

This place is always packed everytime I drive by. I had the meatloaf sandwhich and my friend had the White Chilli both exceptional. Stop by and enjoy as the others do. Parking a little tough though since the place is always packed. Pros: Good Food Cons: Bad Parking Situation more

Marston's schmarston's 5/17/2002

On the whole, I can't give it the nod for best breakfast in Pasadena. Great french toast, great pancakes, but overly-greasy omlettes and the bowl of oatmeal take it down a notch. The wait on a Saturday morning can be brutal. Pros: french toast, pancakes Cons: too greasy, awful wait more

French Toast 5/16/2002

That's really all you need to know. Everyone else does, that's why it's always so packed. more
