Best

The other bad reviews should be taken down, since they were reviewed as far back as 2002. Back then I would agree with them, but not now. This is a completely different course an...

Worst

Not the worst city course, but far from some of the others. First, off I went on a clear sunny day and got 26 mosquito bites in the first hour. BRING BUG SPRAY! Second, the fairwa...

Pretty nice course! 12/18/2011

Not such a bad course. pretty clean. I wish it were a little larger! more

Other bad reviews are old! Ignore them! 12/13/2010

I'm reviewing this in December of 2010 and nothing about the other bad reviews is true. Perhaps under the old ownership (and I hear they were pretty bad) but these new guys are sinking a lot of money into this place. It's got such great potential and it appears the owners realize that. I'm glad the city of NY finally got smart and let these guys run this place. The greens are the best in the city and the staff is nothing but respectful and courteous. It's a great place to golf in NY. more

Greatly Improved in 2006. On the path to becoming one of New York City's best. 7/14/2006

This course is currently undergoing major renovations since the new management took over earlier this year. So far they have a brand new top-notch Pro Shop & snack bar, the greens better than ever, The fairway, bunkers and tee boxes are vastly improved. Drinking water is always available on several holes and best of all those pesky geese are no where to be found. The mosquito population has greatly diminished and pace of play is quite good on most days. Congradulations on breathing new life into an old favorite. Pros: Courteous staff, Easy to reach from Belt Parkway, Club house and Toilets are very clean Cons: Still a few bare spots on fairways and rough. more

ehhhhh..... 7/23/2003

Not the worst city course, but far from some of the others. First, off I went on a clear sunny day and got 26 mosquito bites in the first hour. BRING BUG SPRAY! Second, the fairways are indistingushable from the rough although the greens are VERY nicely kept, althouh in keeping with true city course fashion, they keep it long to help upkeep so your putts run slowly. Some patches of plain hard ground scattered throughout the course. Not the most interesting course, although there are some "mild" dog legs. Par threes are all the same, straight and approx 175 from the whites. Took forever to tee off, and patron are....ehhhh..This one is a toss up for a city course. Pros: Nice greens, Decent speed of play Cons: BUGS, Fairways, Patrons more

One of the WORST golf courses 10/15/2002

I would never ever return to this golf course again. First of all, I paid the usual $35 to play at this course and it was not even worth playing there for more than 5 bucks. The course was filthy. There were duck crap everywhere. You can't find your ball because of all the leaves. Besides not having any carts available, they didn't even have pull carts for rent. It is obvious that they don't take care of this course. I finally realized why it was so easy to get a tee time at this course. If I'm going to pay $35 to play a round of golf then I would rather go to dyker beach----sincerely MIKE more

your kidding right!!!!!!! 6/27/2002

Out of 15 years of gof this has been the worst experience. I wouldn't go back if they paid me the the lousy 37 dollars. It is a shame, the course has great potential, but conditions smell like the bay is at low tide. Furthermore the clientel is rude, dressed in black t-shirts and jeans and unfortunately there is alot of them Pros: location Cons: people, people, people more

  • The Course
One would expect that a golf course with the word ""Marine"" in the name would be a virtual archipelago of greens and fairways surrounded by water hazards. Yet none of the...
