I went to Marathon Grill on Mother's Day with 2 friends around noon. Though we knew it might be busy with the church crowd and moms, I was pleased to see so many open tables when we walked in. However, there was a huge line of people waiting. The hostess told me 10 minutes and in that time my friends and I counted 8 open tables. There were so many people ""working' but it didn't seem like anything was being accomplished. The hostess was AWFUL. I don't think she had any idea what was going on and would disappear to haphazardly clear tables. When they were ready for us (15 minutes later), she said ""2?"" even though it clearly said ""3"" in front of her and then attempted to seat us inside even though she had written ""outside"" by my name. I was shocked at how unorganized it was. The food was fine but the overall experience was so maddening that I don't think I'll be going back there any time soon. Get it together! Chaotic, unorganized, lacking management, lacking service...........you are taking a crapshoot if you're on your lunch hour (you'll need more than an hour)! I still have a sick feeling from what was suppose to be a much anticipated luncheon with friends. Six of us had our food delivered one at a time, when I asked to speak with the mgr., she was too busy & I had to go to the take out counter and voice my complaint while she looked like a deer caught in the head lights of my car, BLANK! Three of my friends had to have their lunches packed to go, the others including myself chocked down our cold (should have been hot), sandwiches since it took forever to arrive.........GET IT TOGETER. I've been to the 16th & Sansom & the 19th & Spruce locations on several occasions, and it was nice. A client suggest we meet at the 1818 location, and informed me that this was the 'main' location, so I agreed......what a mistake. It is utter chaios, the servers are on edge, and tthe tables were dirty, the whole place was a mess. My food took 50 mins, it was a salad and by the time it arrived I was so discusted I didn't even want it., and asked to speak to a manager, I was told the young girl at the counter (early 20's tops) was the manager of this giant establishment....she told me "sorry but we are busy:, so that was my consolation!! To top all this there are two (owners) adults scolding the staff; who were stretched to say the least, and obviously abused. Maybe they should take a little direction from the more enjoyable locations, and let their staff work without the abusive hollaring, and screaming that these greedy owners have shelled out during my entire hour and a half at this pit. Needless to say I won't be spending my money on people who are such monsters. Cons: hellish more

I had the Sansom special which consisted of 2 eggs, home fries, and toast. I orded a side of pancakes because they would not switch the home fries for pancakes. (I don't like home fries.) The eggs were done just right and the toast was some multi-grain/seeded hearty bread- delicious! My companion had a veggie omelette and switched the home fries for tomatoes. We both had coffee which was comparable to a columbian type of coffee, our preferred type, and fresh squeezed orange juice- wonderful! The atmosphere was a little cramped- kind of like you feel like you are eating with the people next to you. Nonetheless, you are in, eat, and out. I've been there three times because the location was convenient. But the food is terrible. My sandwhiches were tasteless, and my burger was burnt. They do not understand "medium rare." The place was just a little to yuppy for me. more

This place is great to hang out on a nice day because you can sit outside, away from the busy street. The food is great, the price is a little high for a lunch place, but you at least get your money's worth. But, if you're there for happy hour, I'd skip the nachos...
