Went to this restaurant for a Monday night dinner. I had been there before over a year ago and enjoyed it. Not so much this time. It was practically empty and kindof depressing. The food was good but not spectacular. The service started strong but then became atrocious. I thought we'd never get out of there. We had the kind of waitress who was terrific until she had other tables, and then completely forgot about you. The host was not very helpful or apologetic about such horrible service. Then the bill was the icing on the cake. Way too expensive for what it is. Considering most of the reviews are from 2005 and that the restaurant was nearly empty, looks like I'm the last to know that this place is not worth it. Ate at Maple Drive on 1/20/06 with my date and was fortunate enough to get a booth. We were seated in under 60 seconds. The food, service, and atmosphere were outstanding. We had a soup and ravioli as appetizers--delicious. Main courses were free-range chicken, which was seasoned to perfection, and the striped bass, which was very nicely done. If you like dessert, the chocolate lava cake is an excellent choice. We wanted to lick the plate. Our server, Michael, suggested excellent wines by the glass. The only complaint (minor, but a pet peeve of mine) was that the person who brought the appetizers and the main course served the male before the female. The food was phenomenal. The server provided excellent suggestions, and was very attentive without being intrusive. There was live music on that Saturday night, and the musicians were very good. We both ordered appetizers, entree, and dessert, and the total bill was just over $100. I definitely recommend Maple Drive for a romantic evening out, and will certainly be returning. This hidden gem in the middle of a Beverly Hills side street is the best kept secret in Los Angeles. We went to the bar for a cocktail at about 4pm. The bartender was so friendly, funny, and good looking and the staff is great looking for you LA'ers who care about that thing. He told us it was happy hour and that all beers, margaritas, and wines by the glass were 2 for 1 Monday through Friday 4pm to 7pm. Not to mention the complimentary happy hour food spread!! He also told us that they are planning a martini night at the bar on saturdays.....this place has an amazing atmosphere...great staff....and talk about bang for your buck. I love Maple Drive! The Happy Hour always attracts a fun crowd and the location is ideal! Parking is easy as there is tons of parking on the street for free, especially in the evening! The service is great and the food is delicious! Last night, I had the sea bass which was absolutely yummy! It's a great place to take your clients to lunch or dinner. It's also a great place to go with your significant other and snuggle up in a booth! The crowd ranges from late 20s to mostly people in their 40s and 50s. They also have live jazz on most nights. This retaurant ROCKS! 5 of us had a great lunch here and the food was fantastic. There were so many celebrity sightings. I have never seen so many beautiful people in one room! The shrimp gazpacho soup was so yummy and the menu was so creative! From the looks of things it looks like reservations are a must!! My friend had a fabulous salad and I had a great pizza! I took my girl for Dinner and she was blown away by the food and decor! The scene is very chill and the food was outstanding... I don't know who the group was that were playing but they were making some great sounds. We had the most delicious meal here over the weekend! We were a party of 120 a the chef prepared a tasting menu for our group- Everything was divine! We particularly reccomend the tasting menu- 8 courses with amuse bouches that were to die for! I dont know where this new chef is from but he is a superstar!
