Best

Amazing food. Highly recommended. We went for our anniversary and were treated with the upmost kindness and generosity. We felt like special customers, and our food was exquisite!...

Worst

It's Little Italy for those whose notions of Little Italy come from Godfather movies. However, the food is good, if not terribly authentic. The ambience is, well, Grand Centra...

Worse Dining Experience Ever 6/1/2005

The wait was very long. The staff was very unprofessional. I orderd a steak and it came out with mushrooms (I am alergic to mushrooms and the menu didnt indicate the steak was served with mushrooms). After another twenty minutes I received another steak that was burned. The manager said he would take care of our bill but never came back to our table so we ended up paying and leaving. This place is not what it used to be. more

amazing for groups! 3/16/2005

we hosted a surprise party for 28 people at maggiano's and from the instant that we arrived, I could not have been more impressed. We had two generous tables in the center of the main dining room and the very second we sat down, the waiter came to take our drink orders. the staff was nothing short of impeccable. And, as usual, the food was delicious. I had pre-ordered a family style dinner and the waiters immediately brought the food to the table while managing multiple requests with precision. The courses were seamlessly brought, plates changed, and glasses filled. Our waiters even managed to perfectly and delicately split the checks. Thanks to Maggiano's, only thing I had to be concerned about during the entire dinner was that the birthday girl didnt have too much to drink! Highly recommended for large groups. Pros: fabulous service, helpful staff, incredible food! Cons: somewhat costly more

housewife 10/19/2003

We have been to Maggiano's several times and think it's the best. The last time we brought our relatives from Pgh. there and they were really impressed. One day on the way to see my son in the hospital at Chapel Hill all he wanted to eat was a pizza from Maggiano's. He loved it! I guess I have to admit my other son is a chef there and he is really happy there. Pros: good food, great portions, take out parking Cons: haven't found any more

great food 10/7/2003

What can I say, never had a bad meal there. Family style is a great deal, especially with kids! Be prepared to wait for a table, tho. Pros: family style, good food, mall parking Cons: noisy, crowded, long waits more

Little Italy it isn't 10/6/2003

It's Little Italy for those whose notions of Little Italy come from Godfather movies. However, the food is good, if not terribly authentic. The ambience is, well, Grand Central Station during rush hour. The noise level is high, servers seem rushed, not a place for a relaxing dinner. As for the wait - 3 hours for a table in a chain restaurant in a mall in Durham, NC. The food wasn't THAT good. Pros: fun - once, decent Italian Cons: too loud, not worth the wait more

Fun and Food! 5/28/2003

Took a group of friends to Maggiano's, and we were all happy, full, and impressed! The Family Style dining is great! We had calamari that wasn't rubbery (like it can sometimes be), the spinach salad was delicious... oh, and the wine list was huge!! everyone had their fill, and we even had a few boxes to take home.... HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT!!! Pros: Great food, Big portions, Good wine Cons: Maybe too full!!! more

Call AHEAD!! 5/9/2003

Everything is usually pretty good... except if you want to get in on a Friday or Saturday night, apparently you REALLY have to call ahead... I called 2 days before I wanted to go for a nice dinner with a group of friends, and the hostess told me I needed to call 2 WEEKS in advance... never mind - I'd rather go to Vespa! Pros: HUGE portions, wide variety of foods Cons: over-crowded, mall dining more

Excellent Service, Large Portions 4/30/2003

My date and I were lucky enough to be seated by the Manager Leonel Zuniga who was Maitre'd at the time. He promptly seated us and our waitor was both prompt and extremely knowledgable about the menu items. I was shocked at the level of detail the waitor had for the food, wines and desserts that were offered. Just to dispel a rumor, parties of 8 are more are not required to order family style as I attended a Luncheon in which we had 20 guests. Some ordered a la carte and others from the family style menu. This is one of our favorite restaurants and myself and my fiance just don't want to see if defamed. Good job Maggiano's! Pros: Large Portions, Excellent Chef, Excellent Service Cons: Overly Congested more

Needs help 3/30/2003

People should be informed if there is a group of ten or more that they have to order from the Family Dining Menu. Meaning the group has to decide what 2 appetizers, salads, etc. they want that will satisfy the entire group. If you know this going in, it might make you decide to split up the tables but sit beside each other. The waiter said we could get as many dishes of the items we ordered. I felt like he was trying to get us out of there quickly. Like cattle, get 'em in and out of here. When we ordered another cheesecake, the waiter said ""Another one, I can't believe there wasn't enough"". It's not even that great of an Italian Restaurant as far as I'm concerned. It's a pretty big place and if you don't like crowds, don't go. Pros: atmosphere Cons: service, food, service more

Great time 3/10/2003

I went for a co-workers birtday and we ordered from the family menu. I thought the place was wonderful. I have eaten and the Maggiano's in Atlanta, Ga and my husband and I love it! We are definately going back. This place is great for couples or large parties. I recommend if you like Italian and you like alot. GO TO MAGGGIANO'S Pros: GREAT FOOD, GOOD ATMOSHORE, CATERS TO LARGE PARTI Cons: NEED RESERVATIONS, LOCATED AT THE MALL more

Quick trip to Italy and back 1/20/2003

The service was wonderful, prompt and friendly. It is great if your with a group larger then 3, becuase you can eat fmaily style. The food is amazing. Pros: wonderful atmosphere, great location, great for families Cons: expensive for individ more

cattle call 1/19/2003

My wife and I went to Maggiano's for our 34th anniversary. Made reservations a week ahead of time and asked for a nice, quiet booth. Was told ""no problem"" and given an 8:30 res. on Sat. night. Got there at 5:30 to have a couple of adult bevs. and check the place out. After a couple of hours was told we could have a table at 7:30. We said, ""We're in no hurry....we'll wait for our booth at 8:30"". At 8:45 we got our cattle call and left the corral. Followed the ""hostess"" who sat us at the worst TABLE in the place, right next to the ""hostess"" station and a drafty side door. My wife said, ""but we requested a booth"" .... the ""hostess"" said, ""oh, that's not possible (?!)"".... we got up and left. Rude staff, crowded etc. Didn't get to eat! Cons: crowded, rude uncaring staff more

big portions 1/18/2003

It's a long long wait to get in. once you get in though, the food and service is great... large portions, enough for two. Pros: Great Food, Large Portions, good service Cons: long wait, long wait, long wait more

Mixed feelings 12/30/2002

The food here is actually pretty good (i recomend the Gnocchi Vodka). what annoys me are the HUGE portion sizes and prices. No normal human being can eat a 3 course meal there without a massive amount to throw away. an entree alone is enough. what ends up happening is you order an appitizer, salad, entree and dessert, and end up leaving 1/2 your food and a $80-$100 bill. The wait staff says its for you to take home, but it never tasts as good. seems silly to me. Pros: tasty food, nice menu selection Cons: portions TOO BIG, Long wait, value more

Nice restaurant, mediocre food 12/22/2002

I was disappointed - a friend at work had recommended this place. The food is very mediocre; garlic bread was not garlicky, Alfredo sauce was thick, but not tasty. Service was mediocre too, child waiter did not remember my order, etc. Pros: nice setting, convenient location Cons: food, service more

Great time! 12/13/2002

Went there to celebrate family birthday, seated before our reservation time, had an attentive waiter (and my family is tough to please). The portions were great and if you think about how much you get to take home or share, the prices are quite reasonable for a restaurant and food of this magnitude. My father is a picky man and had a great time, and I will definitely go back many times. Pros: excellent food, great drinks, awesome desserts Cons: crowded, smoky bar/lobby more

Terrible! 11/12/2002

After our visit there, my husband and I were so disappointed! The service was horrible and the food was cold. We went a second time in hopes of it being better...NO SUCH LUCK! They have the romantic atmosphere but THAT'S IT! PUT SIMPLY - THEY DON'T CARE! Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: TERRIBLE SERVICE!, COLD FOOD!, THEY DON'T CARE more

Great Food 11/10/2002

I love Maggiano's..the food is awesome, though the portions are so large that it always ends up coming home with me. The prices are so reasonable. The lasgna is the best I have ever eaten as is the spinach salad. The drinks, well, the sour-apple martini is one you need to try! Pros: great food, inexpensive, great atmosphere more

10 10/25/2002

Wonderful atmosphere and excellent Italian food. Their were so many choices I did not know what to choose. The flavor of the Angel Hair Shrimp Liabonettia? was wonderful. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. The Italian bread is like dining in Italy. The wine selection is tasteful. You must dine there with your better half. The atmosphere is romantic as well as ambient. The service is good. The bar tender makes great drinks, and he is not light handed at that! The food is hot, and the Cosmopolitan are out of this world. Enjoy!!!! Pros: food, environment, decorations Cons: service, time more

nice setting, shame about the food 10/11/2002

For all of its ambience and charm it's unfortunate that Maggianos falls short in the quality of food. The texture of the gnocchi resemebled that of gummi bears instead of being light and fluffy and the mushroom ravioli looked and tasted like it came out of the supermarket frozen food section. For the prices they charged, I expected more. The salads were ok though. Pros: ambience, mood, old world charm Cons: ordinary food more
